Do you even think before you post?
What do you think would happen to those servers 2-4 weeks after release when all those ppl leave again after 14/30 free days....

This is just sad. I'm on Excalibur playing my legacy character with my other legacy friends. Our other friends that are new to the game are unable to make a character on our server. They are starting to get discouraged, and I feel really bad that they can't join us. I feel like this wouldn't have happened if our characters weren't forced onto a legacy server. I feel like there was hope at the end of the tunnel until the recent response from Yoshi came out. Yoshi's post just shows a complete disconnect from the issue. They need to make this right. You can't screw over your customers like this. Didn't they learn from 1.0 to never hold back. They should have prepared for everything that they could. Not letting people play with their friends is a HUGE mistake. I know a lot of people will not be playing long if they can not play with their friends. Stop this nonsense of forcing legacy characters to a certain server. Allow free server transfers for everyone. They messed up big. Big damage control is needed asap!
Also, aren't server ques set in place to counteract high population stress. Why isn't this an option? We have a que system, why isn't SE using it to its fullest? SE has some great employees, but the people making the decisions seem to have a complete disconnect with society.
I've already had one friend quit. He wasn't convinced if he wanted to play or not, and he certainly wasn't going to play without me. I have two more in limbo. What am I supposed to do? Convince 50+ people to swap for my IRL friends? Not only that, but this cringe-worthy approach of "hush-hush" for 18 hours means lots of people have been refreshing for no reason whatsoever. This isn't a bug, it's completely in SE's control, and they decided to not tell anyone a god-damn thing until just now.
This really doesn't bode well for future "problems". I'm really amazed that a game that's already getting a second chance (an industry first) is already taking these kinds of risks with their players. They can't have my cake and eat it too; If I can't play with my cross-MMO guild and my IRL friends at the same time, there's no way I'm going to pay a dime in subscription fees. They have about a week before I'm done.
My poor sister has been playing the refresh game too....waiting to join me on Leviathan. Although after seeing the response from SE I am a little worried that won't be happening soon. Wondering if I need to give up my character and join a new world.... :(
If they are going to permentantly lock servers, they NEED to let us transfer 1.0 characters off legacy servers. Not being able to play with my friends that are new is going to kill this game for me. Also, it should be FREE for us to do so. This is redicolous. My cousin has been trying to get on hyperion for like 14 hours.
Can you open moogle already? Not having friends be able to join is retarded. I don't care if I get more que, just sort it please.
Here's food for thought: The servers are apparently, as Yoshida said, reaching cap, every server. It's only EGA. Launch means the end of Square Enix and don't expect to play, none of you. SE won't have this down for probably another 2-3 weeks.
Let's say you are SE: your servers have capacity limits. When they are reached, you have no choice but to "lock" the server so people already playing are not affected by the hoards of new players trying to get in. You understand that some of those new players could very well be trying to join their friends already in, but you have no choice.
Allow all players to freely move to a different server sounds nice until you realize it doesn't solve anything: people will move around until, inevitably, some servers become packed again and people are left unable to reunite with their friends. You and your 20 friends can keep trying to jump around until perhaps you are all able to get on a single server. Except you have a few thousand others doing the same thing with their friends so either way someone will always be left out.
The only solution to this is time for server populations to stabilize, but you guys all want your game now so Yoshi-P can't do nothing but chain smoke.
Just let there be super long queues. 1 hour, 2 hour queues like old school wow, whatever. People will bitch about that, sure, but at least after a month or so when a bunch of people will leave like in every MMO, we'll have healthy servers and people who are sticking around long term will play where they want.
Or offer 1 Free character transfer per person after the initial free month is over.
I suggested this game to friends, at which they begrudgingly accepted to even try, but now that we cannot be on the same server they are not even giving this game the chance, just because of being forced onto a legacy server. Believe it or not, even most of the players from my 1.0 LS have yet to play and or are even not going to play because their friends cannot get onto the same server and for them to start over is just too redundant. So SE please allow more players to either get on our server or let us legacy members choose our server without restriction.
Or maybe they could use the que system which they already have in place for some reason. Why is there a que system if they said they have locked the servers to prevent performance problems? I am willing to wait in a que if it means all my friends can play with me. Seriously what is SE thinking? They are just starting to show the same characteristics that led them to disaster at 1.0 launch. It always feels like the person making all the decisions is an outside person that has zero experience with video games.
Guys, for those who are asking for communication..... go here:

Basically, you are screwed essentially. Now, that they told us this information, we must now implore them to give us new servers with FREE server transfer for guilds. PERIOD. Demand it.Quote:
The maximum expected population limit is nearing for each World, and unless the current World simultaneous connection amount decreases, we are unable to open release the limitation.
In case we do release the limitation, there is a high chance that the corresponding World will crash or cause issues, and we are thinking that it will be difficult for us to release it for a while. We please ask you to consider playing in a World that has a low limitation.
It's unreal. I have 6 friends that I would really like to play with and they can't create a char on my server. The same exact thing happened when they merged servers back in 1.0 anyone remember? They lost subscribers because they couldn't do one thing that you would never expect to be an issue in any massive multiplayer game - playing with friends.
I totally agree that waiting in an hour long queue makes total sense when a server is super congested, especially at launch - totally would understand. But Locking the server??? c'mon.
These forums are so atrocious. But so entertaining. /popcorn
I imagine if they'd disconnect the jerks sitting idle doing nothing while they sleep we'd be a lot better off. A 15 minute idle-kick would likely do wonders.
Likewise, I'm in the unfortunate position of already being on one server that's character locked, joining a couple of friends that I met during beta. And with more friends unable to create characters on Leviathan, I will probably have to abandon my character and remake. Here's to hoping that Adamantoise doesn't get the character creation lock as well. -_-
If I were given the option to transfer my character to a low-population server, I would do so immediately. Short of that, it's about 96 hours of playable game too late to be asking people to not use certain servers.
This is exactly what happened to me. Had to create a new character in Phoenix leaving Moogle behind so me and my friend could play together. It was not a big loss (5 days playtime, I plan to be more or less at the same point soon enough), however I'm concerned about the EU servers population, since yesterday all but two (Cerberus and Phoenix) were locked. With the influx of new players on launch day.. What will happen if the EU servers fill up? Will people be "encouraged" (read, forced) to create characters on NA or JP servers?
There was a post somewhere that SE mentions not everyone would be able to play EA even if they pre-ordered the game. They were limiting the number of codes going out. This means they let too many people in already and you guys are complaining because they decided to ignore their own statement saying that EA would be limited.
"In case we do release the limitation, there is a high chance that the corresponding World will crash or cause issues, and we are thinking that it will be difficult for us to release it for a while." -Yoshida
...and how exactly does a world crash if there is a queue system preventing too many people from logging into a world at any given time?
Because they thought investing heavily into Japanese servers to make their experience perfect while neglecting EU/NA was a smart move.
Their queue system seems to doesn't handle more than 250 players at once without breaking.
I still call bullshit that we don't get german, english, french servers. Every Europe Server seems to be pretty packed, so many of them are locked for creation. Well, at least Japan gets a good start with 3029 Server and 34024093 Legacy Server for a few thousand people. I think the amount of japanese Server and the lack of german/english/french/polish/whatever server are a slap in the face, we are more than enough player to fill a few of those (sooo suprising >_>).
PS: That was slightly off topic but i needed to get my rant off, peace.
i have a better solution .. we all play or noone plays.
I am sick of this already, theres not even a queue anymore.
Let us in G%@%@ ,we paid for EA.
even 1.0 didnt had so much launchproblems , this is realy rediculous
Is it just me or are ALL of the EU servers currently locked? Because that's just plain stupid...
HOW HARD IS IT TO OPEN A FUCKING NEW SERVER AND ALLOW TRANSFERS TO IT?
Wow really? Right in the middle of Sastasha I get dc'ed with the 90k error and now the server (Odin) is locked? Are you kidding me?
Early Access what is it? I can't even create character NANANANAANANANANANANA.
Japan = Island = 25 servers
Europe = Continent = 6 servers
Please explain this...
Have the SE admins even looked in the forums to see what people are saying?????
i guess we get some sort of archievement for being in the "early access" for clicking refresh more then a million times in a day.
oh well.
hoping we all get to play our "early acces" would be fun (//_^)
Open Leviathan! Same problem here, all my friends are on Leviathan...so much for early access to get on the same servers. Now when its release I probably still wont get on it.
I gotta say i'm losing faith in SE being able to handle a modern mmo
This isn't a beta, it's early access and though some hickups are to be expected at an mmo launch this is inexcusable
Every fix they apply just creates new issues
I was an apologist in 1.0, not going that route again
Adding to my previous post:
Japan = Island = 25 servers = population of 127.8 million
Europe = Continent = 6 servers = population of 739.2 million
Square maybe if you pay attention to demographics and geography you'd cope better
Here we go again, same issue. If it is congestion server based they should open up world transfers to the newer servers, and make more LEGACY servers. Japanese have not been experiencing these issues, and this is going on since the start of EA. How many times do you have to take down the servers to only reset the congestion/problem? Fix it, don't restart every time this happens.
Question, I'm gonna assume the rest of Asia plays on non JP servers right?
Which would make sense since not everyone is Asia speaks Japanese.
Sorry wanted to reply sooner but buggy forum didn't want to let me.
A queue system would only work if everyone who wants to play already have a character on the server. Queues serve to streamline traffic, but it doesn't do anything to reduce them. If you allow new players (friends and family trying to join you) to add to that queue freely, you will soon end up with a Disneyland-style queue where at any given point half of the population is basically waiting for others to finish playing. So ultimately you still have the exact same problem: you and your friends can't play together.
A server that is full is full. If I was SE I would open more servers AND allow every existing player to do a free but optional one-time transfer to one of these new worlds, so those who wish to move in hope of reuniting with their friends/family can do so.
IMO, they should offer people an incentive to switch from congested servers to less populated servers. Like an EXP bonus or something. A lot of people would welcome the chance to switch to a less populated server because of all the pain involved with logging in right now to the full servers. Plus, they would be getting bonus EXP as well to sweeten the deal.
