the german one made me laugh...
Saw Tifa, got over excited. We have Monk, we need that outfit. And a cut scene with Tifa.
Cid can make it happen.
I smell story line!
Ok. Um.
Am I the only one who noticed that at 2:06, Gaius says IN-GOR-ANCE? instead of Ignorance?
That was the last straw regarding the voice acting for me. The muddled accents, tinny quality, and above error makes this trailer sound like a bunch of high school kids overdubbed the SE va as a prank.
I have a problem with any professional voice actor that says: 'nuke-u-lar', jew-lery', or 'in-gor-ance'.
It's nuclear, jewelry, and ignorance, people. You're getting paid to speak.
Other than the audio, that trailer kicks serious subligar.
PS3 is offering this trailer as a free download. Comes with a chance to win a Beta Code for Closed Beta.
This, and the FFXV Trailer made my day, though I to think the voice acting was missing something aside from the lack of lip syncing.
I didn't think the trailer was that impressive. The biggest problems were the pacing of the trailer - it didn't really carry a strong "trailer narrative", and by that I don't mean a story, but the idea where it shows you what happens. There was always so much going on because they purposely transitioned from move to move to move or a super brief clip and it created a visual overload where nothing made sense and it looked like they were trying to hide anything "digestible". The "best" moment of the trailer was the great After Effects [or whatever] work [for the first time in the FFXIV trailers]. The XIV was slow, deliberate, digestible, and commanding.
I would have left the beard off of Cid - looks forced. I wasn't impressed with the voice acting either, oh well.
That trailer was beyond awesome and got me excited for the game. This weekend can not come any sooner!
Also I'm starting to see some connection with the lore and that unknown hooded/masked npc at the end.
Perhaps Anonymoose can help me shed some light into this as I don't tend to remember all of the details. But I remember reading something about the battle at silvertear lake with the Garleans and the dragons(Midgardsomr)
There was one part that stuck to me. But rumors around that time tells that a single person was behind the action of causing the dragons to suddenly appear and attack the Garleans.
Fast-forward to the future. 2nd battle at silvertear lake. Bahamut appears and we even saw in the trailer what looked like the hooded man being there as well. So I'm actually guessing that he's the reason that bahamut is trapped inside a labyrinth. Which could explain the shadowy looking figure of bahamut in the end. Trapped in the void by an Ascian? Perhaps his labyrinth is inside the void as well.
Anonymoose can't wait shed some light on this one - but he has a big project that's overdue, first, and doesn't want to get into this one without being able to say what he wants to say well and actually back it up with evidence.
;~;
SOON.
In the meantime... keep on that train of thought.
In the first days of dawn, old enemies become new and two were never two.
The highest among beasts and the hoarders of horns would dim the six to silence the one.
Found Among the Incoherent Writings of Nostradamoose
Lol, I really love you Anonymoose(in a not gay way). You're like the offspring of Fernehalwes around this forum XD. But anyway take your time. I just hope that my deduction skills haven't rusted. I enjoy trying to figure things out or uncovering someone's identity like some detective. XD
I couldn't help and make a second post to try and decipher your little riddle. I love riddles. (I'm bored lol)
In the first days of dawn, old enemies become new and two were never two.
I’m guessing you’re trying to say that what seemed to be two threats/two camps were never two to begin with but a third unknown threat was always present (Possibly hinting to the hooded guy?)
The highest among beasts and the hoarders of horns would dim the six to silence the one.
Highest among beasts, I guess that would be Bahamut The second part will either refer to bahamut again or to the one that controls all the horned voidcreatures we saw during 1.0. Both of them serving to restrict the 6 primals to bring out the mothercrystal/the one singing to us and bestowing us with the echo (forgot if she had a name. I’m so bad at remembering finer details like names and dates)
Hopefully my deduction skills are somewhat close. But I’ll wait and see. Can’t wait to eventually see your full report on all of this. But again take your time with it. I’m just being bored and excited over here XD.
Another thing I just noticed, between 2:08 to 2:15. Was that party fighting BUGBEARS?! You know, these guys:

Did anyone else notice a similarity?
Those are Gigas (link to FF XI Wiki) and not Bugbear.
Yep, you're correct. Gigas...
*Amazed face*
Anyway, I'm now curious about the lyrics that were in that trailer at points.
Edit: I just realised, I have now gotten to the point where I am pausing at every possible frame I can for information. I am really happy about this =D
I think long time ago they confirmed that GIGAs are going to be much likeley the beastmen tribe which warships Shiva. coming along in a snow region.
its much more similiar with that appearance i think:

And have you noticed also the new side character "Alfino"?
- A new organization called “Clan of Dawn” (Akatsuki no Ketsumei) will play an important role in the story of the new game. A new primary NPC named Alfino is a member of the clan and will be voiced by Shinnosuke Tachibana (you can see the character’s portrait below).

very small scenes with him ;)

Here at 3:15 (gridania intro most likely)
Prepare yourselves, I'm about to go all seiyuu otaku on you.
All this time I thought that the three voice actors Rikiya Koyama, Rie Tanaka, and Miyuki Sawashiro would be voicing Raubahn, Kan-E-Senna, and Merlwyb respectively. It made sense at the time because of the three signatures alone on that one CE box. But watching this trailer, it's very obviously Sawashiro voicing Minfillia, and very obviously NOT Sawashiro voicing Merlwyb. I know she's been in the voice acting game for years, so there's a good chance there are a few different "voices" I've not heard from her, but the deepest she's ever really gone was as Inaba in Kokoro Connect or her character in Strike Witches. In the trailer, when Admiral Bloefhiswyn is speaking and she reaches a lower range in her voice, there's a resonance in it that doesn't exist when Sawashiro is speaking.
Though I'm not at all disappointed (Sawashiro's voice is a touch too high for the Admiral) I unfortunately I don't recognize whoever is voicing Merlwyb. Anyone care to help?
I've watched all four trailers now and only in the German version Minfillia sounds as if she's about to cry.... Why? >_<"
I am really kind of addicted to the French Garuda, Minfillia and Cid.
I just can't believe how far they have come with this game, I am so proud of Yoshi and the devs and all the people involved with the creation of this new game! They worked hard, listened to the fans, and broke through all the hate and negativity towards 1.0 and even the alpha - beta stages. Once again a new trailer for this game has peaked my excitement, I can't contain it anymore!
It's actually a Vicious Gladiator's Staff :0

Compare and discuss :P.
Great idea Kamui and you know what, something that has been bothering me every time I look at the image for the Garlean Emperor (Solus)...
He's standing so confidently that he looks "stout", which begs the question... what race is he exactly? Hyur (not quite)? Roegadyn (Hmmm)? Or...
...is he a Lalafell?
Agreed. There is something about his voice it sounds... idk over acted? Forced? But over all it is a very nice trailer and makes me want to have 2.0 here even sooner!
I doubt it highly, but it would be nice if they gave us the options on what language we would like the voices to be in, since everything seems to be subtitled anyway~! :D

Does nobody else find the white coloring of the female Legatus on the right...discomforting? A legacy of the White Raven? His apprentice? A lover? A competitor?
I doubt Nael would have been called the White Raven unless he was the only Legatus to wear the white armor...so something about her feels connected by the fact that she is also wearing white Legatus armor.
I doubt there's going to be any real deep connection like that just from the color of their armor. Gaius is called the Black Wolf, but there's a character next to him wearing even more black.
I'm more curious by what animal names they get nick named, assuming that's going to be the case (White Raven, Black Wolf, Red Lobster, ect).
While I agree that you are most likely correct, something still feels like it's being intentionally done. Yes, there are other Legatus in black armor, but this is more in line with the traditional Imperial look. Even the one with more red still seems to fall into this line.
But the white armor was something that made Nael stand out in 1.0 and become something of an iconic look as far as FFXIV villains go. I'm finding it hard to believe that the design team arbitrarily gave this new female Legatus the white color scheme without taking into consideration what it could represent.
Again, you're likely right, but I am a fan of speculation.
Oh no..
Please, no....
I want to scream at SE right now.
"HAVE YOU EVER IN YOUR LIFE, PLAYED AN FF GAME OR WATCHED AN FF MOVIE, WHERE THEY TALK WITH HITHERS, THEES, DOTHS AND THOUS?!"
No, you haven't..
Because they don't.
Using old English to make up for the lack of a characters presence is more than bad.
It's terribad..
For the love of all that is good.
STOP IT...
Go watch advent children and get an idea, of what we expect people in this realm to talk like please..
Well now it seems this walk is awfully familiar :/ (- nael)

Great, so every game in the world has to be knights of Camelot..
I wish games would stick to their lore and not start trying to make it up as they go along..
Save the old English for Hamlet remakes..
It just doesn't fit when the entire world is talking like that..
It's not at all like the lore should be.
Everyone is trying to make it some Medival game, but it's not.
That's part of the problem right there.
Medival belongs at the county fair.
It's not a medival setting at all imo and shouldn't be treated like one.
SIDE NOTE:
The acting was just plain old fashioned bad as well..
Some of the worst voice acting I have ever seen in an FF trailer.
Like they picked up some people from the forum and just went with t..
Lol no idea who those people are..
Can you honestly say that was A list voice acting?
I act. I have been a lead actor in movies and music videos.
I have years of acting classes and experience.
That was bad voice acting, plain and simple.
We call that "just phoning it in" in the industry.
Hahaha
