Single Sex Races

I rather have a cyborg with tools like Edgar from ffvi of ff3 in the usa. LOL CHIANSAW RRRAAARWWWW

I'm sure its been said but this whole Vierra-race thing could be simply remedied by giving Miqote longer ear options and additional tail options...

Let them add Viera (female) and let them add Bangaa (male). There problem solved.

I don't see the point of adding Bangaa as a male only race though. They have females in their lore, and the females obviously aren't all that shy about fighting, at least in FFXII.

I'd say another race entirely would be more fitting for it. :x

Normally I wouldn't care, but I kind of agree. People wanted opposite-gender versions of existing races, so SE decided to deliver on that. Adding single-gender races back will be a step backward on this front.

I have to agree with OP on this, multi-gender races are nix it. Id rather see other things if they don't want viera males.

While I disagree that the galka and mithra, miquote, roe were mistakes (shame on you for trying to kill originality) I agree with your logic because people will complain about it and I just don't want to listen to the whine threads.

They should release a race with 5 sexes instead, like Species 8472 in star trek (only half kidding).

I really don't understand why people can't accept mono-gendered/asexual races. I bet you all wish you weren't begging for viera like you were before Yoshi-P brought this up....

Mithra had men you just couldn't play one.

Galka was pretty unique - wish they played more with the reincarnation in FFXI

Would have loved to see racial abilities...

As for personally I dont mind gender-less races but i like the argument against Vierra because I honestly didn't want to see them and I'm glad Yoshida is pushing hard against it (at least I dont want to see them as their own race, add them to the miqote clan they are very similar in looks (maybe not lore but w.e. lol)). Imo, we've got miqote its time for something different, and something that we don't already have "the sexy, the cute, the big, the metro"

Would be redundant to add a lizard race, we already have Amal'jaa who look really reptile-ish already. Even if they are not playable.
As to adding Vieras, I'd find it so sad and unoriginal. They were a FFXII race, adding them to FFXIV, which is a totally different world would be tasteless imo.
And adding uni-gender races would just make the whole player base cry for the missing counteparts, as many people said.

Also with the introduction of new races later in the game, SE you need to be able to make it so we can switch races on our current characters. Re-rolling/leveling a character just to change my race does not sound like fun.

SE should just give us bunny ears headbands and bunny tail subligars and be done with the whole Viera thing so they can focus on adding a more distinctive looking race.

I personally would like to be moogles. Either the ones we currently, which would be fun and amazing, or some new type of moogle. Being able to be the race of moogles we have wouldn't fit the storyline really, well at least the one from 1.0. So I think they should add a new kind of moogle into the game and make lore about it. And by new kind i mean the ones from FFTatics.

I was trying to include an image but it wasn't working oh well. Just google fftatics montblanc to see what I mean.

OP is talking to one of Yoshida's comments. Yoshida said he finds male bunnies weird and that he is more interested in doing something more wild / different. But we dont really know what he is talking about except for one time he mentioned dragons.

So OP said if you find one sex weird don't make a one sex race again like FFXI, just dont make the race.

(Really only Galka's were one sex, because there were male mithras - SE in FFXI just didnt let you play them)

I don't understand the point of saturating the game with furries. The difference between a Miquote and a Vierra is really small, and now you have another race to design armor sets for.

Races should be able to appeal to different types of gamers - in most situations, the same person who likes a Miquote is likely to enjoy a Vierra because they're literally the same thing. The idea that there aren't male Vierras, or "male bunnies" is also ridiculous.

I don't really want a new race, but if there is one it has to fit some sort of interesting demographic that isn't touched that will appeal to players who aren't playing the game, or something that works seamlessly into the already established game world. The primary purpose of a new race isn't for old players, it's for potential customers.

First, let me say that since we already have the cute cats, I would rather the next race be something a little more...different.

BUT I do agree that when they add a race, they need to add both genders to it - Yoshi-P's boybunny fear aside. If not, then FFXVIII will have to be remade to include the missing genders (>.>)

He was talking about the future, if they add Vierra (the bunny girls). Yoshi has said again and again that he doesn't like the idea of male Vierra, so one option he mentioned is adding the female Vierra, then some other male-only race to compensate.

I never was a fan of male miqo'te or female roegadyn. I for one liked the different gender-specific races and i feel it adds a bit of lore and mystery to the world. I still don't know who or why people wanted a male miqo'te or female roegadyn. Who actually looks at the sexy cat/bunny ears and tail and thinks "you know, I want a dude to have ears and a tail" or looks at the roegadyn and says "you know, i bet a muscular and beefy looking woman would be fun to play."

EDIT: I don't understand why having gender-specific races in an MMORPG when there a a variety of other options for each gender makes OP so upset.

I don't see an issue with this topic or at lest the way the first responder responded. Honestly I am kind of confused myself as to what would be so bad about male "bunny" characters it's not like they haven't existed before. I was going to comment how maybe only female Viera existed but that's not the case the Viera seem to share the same mentality as the Mithra in a sense but ina different manner.

If I"m not mistaken in XI the Male Mithra are like mates, they help reproduce since male Mithra are harder to come by than the female equivalent so they remain in the mainland and are usually pale in complexion because of how little they do go out.

With Viera they seem to just live in separate communities only needing to come together when needed aka mating. However there has not been any Viera male art or at least from a quick look around there has been nothign official and it's usually been just males.

Of course with that said, it doesn't mean that if they did decide on a female bunny race they would have to use the Viera model they could just design them differently to make a male equivalent more viable.

I mean a simple way to go about the difference between a bunny man and woman, is the bunny men could have short ears and more slender arms, their longer arms are for defensive purposes allowing them to strike harder and with more force. While the female bunnies on the other hand have long ears and more slender legs, in the mentality of their community the females are usually told to stay back away from danger so their powerful legs are used for running away from danger so that they can protect their babies and such meanwhile the males will stay behind to fight off any threats that come at them.

But ya, I did find that comment odd to, that he would consider something else for males when it came to a bunny avatar. Just seems rather odd considering the trouble they went through to make the muscle bound woman, the male miquote and the female galka <_< I'm not gonna spell that other name. It would feel likea step backwards to decide that just because they are bunnies people aren't going to want a male version or to play as a male version of them.

I think the reason why he says this most is because he has another race in mind. The one consistent thing he says about the race in his mind is wild, different, sometimes uses dragon or dragon like.

So I'm thinking he is going "what some people want?" "what I want?". Like when he decided to remove arrows and people were like... who bitched about arrows? Yoshida has his own vision of the game, its not like he is always going to do exactly what the forum/poll says.

Also with the poster above me, when Yoshida got the poll results back he was like "I didnt mean Vierra - I meant something animal like...."

Sex does not matter in MMOs anymore.. you're always gonna have about 90% of the population be dudes playing as girls anyways...

I'd like to see a Dragonesque humanoid race, but with very mild lizard-like features. Tails, ears, maybe mildly shiny, scaled skin. Something in the way that miqo'te have cat similarity. But i'd rather not see a full blown beastman race added.

Thinking a bit more out of the box, I really wouldn't mind seeing some of the more intelligent humanoid monster races come out as playable characters.

Hell even Goblins since they're already half ingrained into society, it's fees-able for them to be out in the field as well.

That would be really weird.. / interesting. No legged monster :O.. If you give them a long enough tail you could divide them up into two pieces, legs for upper tail / meets to chest and boots for the rest.

It probably would look way too evil for most FF players though lol - I wouldn't mind :P

I want a more beastly race, not just another human with an exaggerated feature (e.g. tails, bunny ears, elf ears, etc)

This is one of the few MMOs today where every race is just a human variant.

It clearly states in the Viera lore in the FF series that the only way they are able to walk upright is to have the high heels on their armor because of the shape of their feet. I am so tired of all of the female characters in XIV having pretty much every foot armor being flat footed. At least in XI, which I assume is supposed to be an inferior game compared to XIV, most all of the female armor had heels on them. This grates on my nerves bad for some reason... :mad:
