Really disappointed with the PS3 footage, framerate looks horrible and there is heavy screen tear.

That would probably be why it's still not ready to play test . . . .
I have not been this excited over a videogames in decades. I feel like a kid on Xmas, in a candystore and its all you can eat XDDDDD
Zam article
"The PS3 version of the game is about 75% optimized, and from the video I was shown the big issue seems to be frame rates needing some work. However, Square Enix has engaged a team from Sony to assist with the optimization of the game's code for the PS3, and they are making sure that they will push the hardware to its limits in order to get the game to run the way that they and fans expect."
I would say this about sums up how i feel: http://youtu.be/VLnWf1sQkjY

There's a setting for Grass Quality in the official benchmark, in case nobody noticed.
OMFG! I'm so excited now! They've done an amazing job making sure the characters look great! Remember the creepy plastic midlander? I didn't see anything like that in any of the videos!
What did everyone score on the benchmark? On maximum (1280x720), I consistently got above 3600 (High).
I can't believe they made goobbues enemies T_T Who would want to kill that cute thing?
Only could think of 2 things the whole time while watching the main video:
1. Thank god I am from Limsa, the area around it looks so fantastic!
and
2. Mother of god.
I cant wait!!!
Specially when you can put a carpet on their head use a mating horn and ride on frisky in season goobbue!
:)
Farming spells >.>, I was like yeah this is so cool farming spells (as I was really lucky and I had no idea).. then I went hours and hours on the same monster waiting for him to cast that one spell that beat the crap out of me, to kill and then sigh XD
(I liked the class regardless but RNG spurned me good lol)
Lol on top of PvP, there will be CvC... is that like cockfighting? Madness!
Loving this obvious flood of information.
Omg, i cried when i saw Ul'dah and heard the music. I was like ;_____; so beautiful. MAI HOME!
Ah yes the moss, it made a killings in the ah per stack... ^^
Ul'dah certainly is beautiful. I'm glad I chose it as my first city state ^^
And personally the most touching scene for all the videos released today was the end of the ifrit battle, the violin was wonderful and it was touching seeing so many people become incapacitated at once... ;_;
OMG! Just OMG!! Σ(゜ロ゜; )
I am thrown back by how great this looks. I am greatly impressed! This game looks like I'll be playing it for years to come!
I literally clapped when I saw Limsa Lominsa!
Mandragoras! Be ready for perma-sleep again lol
Why does this exist

This was made because people (like me) thought it was two turtles. This shows how it's one.
yeah i love it too.. it reminds me a little bit of Final Fantasy 12.
what i was really wondering.. in the "region tour" video at around >>7:52<< there is a region called "black brush station"
what does it mean? i mean it looks like a train station.. on the other hand yoshida declined that there is going to be a train ingame. or does it just have to do with a cole mine?
for me it really looks like a station for passengers.. but well i think its just my imagination.
In a gamerescape interview I read that it is for a mine - and while there is no riding content (or fighting) for it he said it isnt impossible.

GE- Back at E3 you showed us Thanalan and I had pointed out the railroad track and at the time you couldn’t say anything about it. Is there any information you can give us on it now? I noticed while playing, that it’s maybe just used for the mines? But will it be used as a form of transportation? Or maybe other train elements from previous titles such as Doomtrain or the Phantom Train will be brought in?
Yoshida- To be honest, that kind of element hasn’t been implemented in the game yet. But perhaps in the future so please look forward to it.
Well lets hope this. because they named it "station" and it also looks like a train station.. kind of..
i mean that "station":

like if you could walk through that door and behind there (2. screen) are the tracks for a train. but well ^^ would be too nice to be true ;)
would be a REAL cool feature that no one other MMO has to offer.
by the way the graphics at this area looks amazing.. look at the architecture.. and the female lalafell. it just looks like a full 3d version of Final Fantasy 9 ^^

ha ^^
Looking amazing. Crazy how much work they've done and how many changes they've been able to implement in so little time... Even down to the ambient noise. Can't wait!
no one notice the bard playing the harp?
Game looks amazing. I loveeeee the new customizations too! yay =)
Yep, the gameplay is really going to be the "play it or move on" element for me. So far, from what I've seen, I've been underwhelmed (to put it mildly) as what we've seen so far looks like it's more of the same. Too much like what MMO developers have been pushing out for the past 6 years or so, trying to get a piece of the WoW pie, and ride Blizzard's coat-tails.
Still, Yoshi-P and co promise that there's more to come that we haven't seen yet; that FFXIV: ARR will bring some great, new content and unique gameplay systems to bear. I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that's the case.
Square has had a knack (at least in other games, namely FFXI since it's an MMO and most comparable to XIV), for taking familiar concepts and putting their own unique twist on them, making them interesting and engaging. I remember so many times seeing people theorizing, predicting and even claiming to "know" how some new gameplay element was going to work, only for it all to be proven completely wrong upon release. SE seldom did/do the obvious. I hope to see more of this in ARR.
They've had a knack for never doing anything half-way, or as token efforts. People asked for personal Chocobos in XI, for example. SE responded by implementing an entire system of raising them, along with related activities for them. And so on. I hope to see more of this in ARR, of them going all-in with anything they decide to introduce.
Finally, they've had a knack for keeping things mysterious. Wrapping things in layer upon layer of lore, history, and esoteric knowledge of the world and its goings-on. They've always given so much to wrap your head around. I hope to see more of this in ARR.
I'll overlook the quest markers and all the hand-holding elements if they provide enough for me to chew on and immerse myself in. If Eorzea is even half as fascinating, mysterious and intriguing a world as Vana'diel has been, I'll be quite happy. The world in a game (especially an MMO) is a huge part of the experience for me. I don't want it to be "merely a pretty backdrop". I want it to be an important and vital part of the experience. I hope to see and experience this in ARR.
