Staying as my Midlander male. Looks like the real me, so why not?
Yeah I look exactly like my character too, except my tail is longer and I have bigger boobs, and fairy wings!
Female playing female cat, ain't gonna change a thing.
Well. Besides possibly the chest a bit.
Giving concideration to rolling out a male roe for beta at least. :)
im a male playing a male im keeing him the same for the most part but im thinking of changing my hair to red im a ginger in real life :o

I am a male and I perfer playing males, I mean why play a sex that you aren't in real life? lol

Photoshop can use it as well.
I'll keep my char just as she is. I was male playing female in PSO and FFXI. FFXIV allowed me to tweak my char almost perfectly.
THERES SHEMALES IN MMOS?????
To which some will reply, "Why would you want to stare at the backside of a dude the whole time you're playing?" ;P Nothing against anyone who would prefer that though.
Male proudly controlling a female Miqo'te. And it will remain that way in all cases where the female version of the class/race/whatever that I want to play is cute or otherwise pleasing to the eye. (Exceptions include if the female is ugly or if choosing female is not an option)
Tentatively, I will keep my character the same. Though I wish they were keeping the old voices in addition to adding many more. I will miss my Rie Tanaka voice.
I'm male playing female and will continue to do so. I will make a few minor tweaks to Cynthis but will stay close to the 1.0 look as I was mostly really pleased with it.
Disregarding for now that the next logical question is why play a race that you aren't in real life, for me I will always play female for one simple reason. If I am going to spend hundreds or thousands of hours looking at an avatar on the screen I want that to be something that I find attractive. As a straight guy, that means a female. It's as simple as that.
Edit: I see Aish agreed with me and a few seconds faster...
Anyone want to convince me to go from Miqo to Lala? I'm in a heated debate with myself atm... lol -_-
Go ahead if you can. I already got someone female Lalafell and her name is Tatty Teddy.

Isn't that cute? X3
Well I find the race thing easy to answer because there is only 1 race when talking about real life and that's the human race. It would kinda suck if they just have Hyur for a playable race but it would still be cool. But I just stick with my gender. It is ironic that I played a small character though and I'm like 6'2". XD But in ARR I'm creating a Male Miqo'te. ^^
Male playing female miqo'te. I don't like to play as male in all games because i don't like to keep staring to a guy's ass all the time, sorry :p
Though I may tweak my char a bit, like hmm bigger breasts and tail, and add some facial extras like lipstick. I wish they add long hair but if they don't add is fine.
I saw that letter and those new female genders look nice, same for male miqo'te.
Well if you decide to become a Lalafell everyone will think you're as cute as pie. Whenever I see a Miq I don't really have a response because there are so many of them , but Lalas....I'm a guy and I want to hug them all or something. It's completely weird, but true.
Wouldn't play one myself because I wouldn't like being that short and stubby.
One fun thing you can do as a male playing female character is when some guy starts hitting on you in game then play along. When it goes to far say you're a guy and watch him freak out. :)
I suppose a female playing a female can as well say they are a guy to brush someone off :p
Honestly, FFXI broke me out of playing as females because of that. I know guys hit on female chars in any MMO, but I got tired of so many random guys just going, "Hey beautiful" or "What're you up to cutie?" when I was just going about my business. Then they got so disappointed when they got ignored or I simply stated I was male. Nope, rather not be pestered by horny men again so male characters become my norm. No one ever calls me beautiful or cute though....that's a little sad.
This is not an uncommon strategy amongst some female players. Threats if rape or other violence to them selves or family members are unfortunately the experiences of some female players in other games.
It does of course create a false impression of the actual numbers of female players involved in on-line gaming. Entirely understandable though.
I miss my Taru from FFXI! So I'm gonna change to male Lala at launch and make him look like my old Taru, lol.
Male playing Mithra/Miqo'te for life, might change minor things hair color and such. Likely leave chest as small or medium, the large in alpha did not fit the mithra/miqo'te build IMO. Still hoping for XI's tail movements in XIV! I needs!!
Create a Lala character during beta or as an alt first on your main account when ARR launches. Play a couple hours as a lala and see what you think. One of the main adjustment problems many of us 'lala's' have to playing the other races is we got so use to the viewpoint and 'character speed' we think everything else looks odd and slow. Yes I know we all move at the same speed but because our legs/chocobo legs are so little we appear to move faster on our screen.
All of our camera angles and viewpoints are also from a much lower angle. (one of my elezen friends laughed at a screen shot I took of her and me because it was basically me and her thighs...) One word of advice, if switching to lala, go 'big' lala. It's not much taller but the added height can sometimes mean being able to see the target and not depending on the landscape. I learned this from playing the 'smallest' taru in ffxi. Big lala is much easier camera wise...you can also see your character details a little better too.
The pros to lala's are they are typically a more fun, light-hearted race that people overall seem to love or at least love teasing in that 'little bro/sis' kind of way. And while all types of people play all types of characters, overall, the lala's are known for being helpful, silly and warm...and the emotes are AWESOME :) So again, try it out during beta....I am DEF staying a lala-lady...but what's right for me and my personality might not be right for you.
Ahhh~ The lala pressure~
I've been Mithra from XI and Miqo from XIV onwards, that's why it's so haard.
Dang it, why lala's gotta be so gosh darn cute... SEのバカ >.>;
Unless I can really beautify the female roe...

Male playing a female atm. Likely that I'll make a male secondary, due to the way I behave and getting too many constantly asking if I'm really a guy. Don't really mind much but it's a thing. I kinda like playing a female role is games. Women with courage and valour are great. (Males don't always need the glory right?)
Female playing Male :P
I'm male playing male hyur... I might try out male mi'quote and elven during the beta test to see how it feels...
Yeah I first tried a Elezen male but then I just got hypnotized by the Dunesfolk eyes...
LALAs get BOOBies yaaaaaaa. I just might have to rethink my thoughts
I like playing many races and genders. I am female.
I don't see my character as myself, they all have different personalities depended on race/gender.
That's what I like about role playing, that I can be something different.
It will be hard to decide which race/gender I will play as main, but I think I go male...
I was thinking of a Elezen, but I like some of the emotes of Hyur midlander more... I guess I also need to try male Miqo'te.
I guess I will try different races/genders in beta, and see what is the best fitting for me as main.
