Haha XD Oh gosh I hope a little sooner, maybe 7...
Come on SE, invite people who have low specs to test performance on lower end rigs and laptops B)
They should like add option like, "Do you have additional rig?/laptop?, post it down too if you have!" i kind of have 2, a desktop and a laptop.. but now i only have 2 laptop, lousy low performance and the other is a high end laptop... .
Well I got my coffee, I got my iPad. Time to ready myself for the entitlement threads and the tear threads. Maybe even make some pop-ed corn.
You wouldn't really be able to test your machine because the alpha doesn't have a lot of the features available yoshi-p himself said the graphics weren't finished. I think he said close to 70 something percent? but if you low end machine can play with the graphics set to alpha spec then you should be good anyway :P I wanna get in to the beta to try out the graphics at max and see what it looks like.
Oh boy, good thing I'll be at work tomorrow when the emails roll through. At least the blow of not getting an invite to the alpha will be more lighter than me sitting at home waiting for it on my day off.
With that being said, my body is read for more tears.

Well at the very least I can come here to see the swarms of disappointment threads should I not be chosen. Not that I think people being disappointed is inherently funny, but some of the reactions to it are priceless.
nope i moved my new residents is here
Just a notice those that are actually Q.Q probably shouldn't be in the alpha... they want to play more then test and look for bugs and glitchs or on going issues... the type that are gonna Q.Q at the animation not being complete since it is an alpha and is designed for 1 thing and 1 thing ONLY... stress testing... .... .... LOL I love watching the forums ball up in tears that they didn't get in when they probably would of played 4-7 hours then never log in till beta.. >.> thank god for testers that spend 8-12 hours 3-4 days each looking for all the things they can write up feedback about and making sure to post it up asap (of course after they search the forums to make sure none of it is reposting already posted stuff.
People who actually want in the alpha are at least passionate about the game. As you said, the purpose of the alpha was to stress test and find bugs, and in order to do that, you need to just play the game, and get involved. I am pretty sure that people who have played 1.0 will spend much more time than blindly-selected people playing the game before they get bored and walk the other way.
Anyways, your post is full of trollolol so I'll leave you to that train of thought.
The main purpose is to stress test they estimate the the original population would of dropped to 20% but it only dropped to 50% and its not really blind inviting they told us the criteria used... Computer specs/ region your located / available time
also how is it blind when only people who applied get in >.> haha nothing blind about that. In order to get invited you had to have a active SE ID and put in an application as well as meet the criteria
I fail to see in anyway how that is blind, maybe we are using two entirely definitions of the sense. I've always thought a planned, organized, and structured system that works fantastically was kinda the opposite of a blind system but i maybe mistaken haha :P despite the massive crying over it the testers in there have been doing more then the team can handle for feedback and testing so far. Its not a bad system just cause some people didn't get in. That whole only inactive people got in thing is bs lol a mass amout of our LS on Sargatanus got in. most of them people on game since prior to 1.23. A system that did not favor loyalty YES that i agree on it was not that system.. But blind invites and a bad system by no means since it has been doing its purpose and more.
well i hope they pick the right people that actually gonna help the game itself finding bugs etc not people that just want to see how the game looks like and want to just be part of the alpha and say ohhh look im in the alpha but not actually helping with nothing
*Is ready for the invite*
Just keep an eye on FF_XIV_EN twitter account, they will announce once the e-mails are sent out.
https://twitter.com/FF_XIV_EN
It's not RNG >.< the Dev's said it themselves they used the information you put on the app... to find computer specs / availability and location (location is also giving through billiing address as well as IP it is how they have been tracking the number of players in each region >.>)
I think people also forget how many thousands of people play this game. It's no surprise many are left out of these tests. It's not because you're not what they're looking for as a tester.
the can easily set the system to look for applications in SET region then filter for BLANK availability and finally start inviting based on specs once the amount in that region is met on to next region 100's get left out but they get the quota they needed for invites. No way to tell if the dev clicks send for the invites or an automated system clicks send
12~16k people were active by shutdown (not all at once but overtime) based on the logins/search data JP players were keeping, so yeah people will be kept out but with enough Alpha worlds every XIV player that was currently active could be in the tests no problem lol.
But yeah.
If you don't get in don't make dumb cry threads this time guys, it's embarrassing!
Throwing up the icanhazchat now.
