Well, the main storyline, aside from the Garlean invasion, is about "The calamity that will come, and more dangerous from the Garlemald"
What else more dangerous beside Bahamut

Yoshi said that they thought out the Bahamut thing when he took over the game.
At first I assumed literally everything in Eorzea is destroyed, or at least most all of the cities. However, looking at the video again, if this was actually the case, then how are the archons praying at the shrines inside the city? This is shown after the initial destructive volleys into the city. It's reasonable to believe that they might have been hit by more after we're shown them praying, but for the most part it seems the major cities aren't completely destroyed, just severely damaged. This is directed at those, to who I shared common sentiments, that believed we had to be warped to a different dimension as well as time as there is no possible to way to completely rebuild cities that large in 5 years.
Wait, they mention in this Live Letter?
I dont recall read it in Rep topic
The Q&A topic only contains the summaries of questions and answers, but doesn't cover everything that was said.
They didn't and asking for sources on this forum is like asking a kid to hand over his doughnut. Not gonna happen.
No one really knows where the line between the old team and the new team is. We know for a fact that the new team was responsible for changing the direction of the gameplay. However, they used tons of assets that were already created over the past year and a half. It's not unlikely that the doomsday storyline was already being crafted before Yoshida took over.
It wasn't aimed specifically at you. People in general toss around claims about all sorts of crap that they are just guessing about or have misread.
i can't say this translation is deem 100% but what was translated here is what i heard in the Live producer letter... .

Thanks for the link Seirra... now to re-read the highlights of the Live letter while I recover from that epic trailer.
i'm going to put this out there,
What if the 12 are The Knights of the Round now there are 13. The head being the King
the 12 knight seal bahamut away and seal there powers in stones to protect the people if bahamut is to ever brake free.
Now what would have happen to the king(maybe turned into Odin?)
or posible he is bahmut?
on another note i do find that ffxiv and ffxi bahamut look alike
and i thought Eroza was part of the world what about the other countrys?
looks like bahamut will be a boss of ARR.
I feel that Cid KNEW that Bahmut was inside Dalamud, his unsurprised look points at this.
I think Atomos were summoed BY Bahamut to feed him the aether that was by rights his, I think it may be that Aetherites and all those were doing the reverse flow, they were using Bahamut as a means to get energy and all, the ones who imprisioned bahamut used them as a power source, so Atomos was the mean of Bahamut to regain his own strength.
My 2 cents on the matter;
I think both Odin and Bahamut are both "Ancient Primals." The Allgans are the ones who turned Odin into a "Ancient Primal" as a reward or honor (remember this being said no idea were been ages maybe first mention of Odin in live letter?). So why would they "make" a Primal?
Maybe once they imprisoned Bahamut they knew he was going to need a warden and thus created Primal Odin just for this job; he could also step in and stop Bahamut from rampaging (thus the low damage to the world 5 years in the future). They have showed CGI of Odin so there is a movie of him some place in ARR. When 2.0 starts it could be him rushing in to stop Bahamut, injuring him and he flees as to so recover (reason Odin become a wandering Primal since he is hunting Bahamut and reason world isnt a wasteland when he start 2.0).
Sorry for walls of words ~_~; but thats my 2 cents
Two things.
First,
I'd like to nip in the bud that theory of the 12 not existing. They aren't just a cage for Bahamut.
Case in point: prayers during the invasions gave buffs and debuffs based on who you prayed for.
Second,
I agree with this idea that perhaps atomos might work for bahamut.
Why? The invasions. They had deepvoid enemies. Minions of Atomos.
Perhaps he was redirecting the aether from the aetherytes towards bahamut in order to empower him.
Not 100% sure, just think its a viable explanation for Atomos and the deepvoid monsters throughout the invasions.
Atomos works for no one, he only does what he does. Deepvoid monsters are beings that follow him through the void he creates as he switches dimensions/plains. If Atomos was working for Bahamut, he would have appeared sooner in the storyline than when he did, he only appeared when the aether flows themselves began to become unstable as Dalamud sapped at the aether.
Just because magical things begin to happen doesn't mean it automatically gives proof to The Twelve. The Twelve "altars" were just too perfectly positioned around Eorzea for me to say this was divine intervention. They were practically a circle with the Tomb of Xandes (the altar in Mor Dhona, also associated and near The Crystal Tower and the tomb of an Allgan king) right in the middle. That sounds more like a weapon to me than some entities watching and moving pieces around like chess. The Twelve could have easily existed in the past, Twelve people who sealed Bahamut the first time, of which some went and founded Ul'dah, Limsa Lomina, Gridania, and Ishgard. I can easily see the stories being passed down and the true understanding of these people raised to the form of gods.
Hmmm, What if The "Twelve" is really some sort of Magic/Technology combine that the Allagans used to "capture" Bahamut in the past, so that they could potentially use him as a weapon. We see that the "prayers" activated what looked like "Magic" (maybe even some ancient technology) that called out the "twelve imprisonment keys" we see again go at Bahamut with a new Dalamud moon to trap him again. Could it be that Bahamut is simply pissed that he has been imprisoned and is now going to seek revenge?
The old elvaan said we were using only part of the power of the twelves because summoning the dieties entirely would lay waste to eorzea's energy. Or something along those lines.
Also the Archons are the reincarnation of the 12.
The praying stones could have been placed strategically? Sure.
Is it a more effective way to be heard by the 12 than praying anywhere? Of course.
But lets not fall in the egg and the chicken. The 12 came first. Maybe it was the Allagans who created the praying stones in order to channel the 12's power into a cage.
I have a feeling the Garlean Empire knew about Bahamut and had a method ready to contain him.
Wasn't there a tomestone or something in the Limsa quest that was used to contain Leviathan?Quote:
According to Cid, the Meteor project is a complex scheme employing arcane magicks and lost Allagan technology to summon the lesser moon Dalamud-a giant machine, if his claims are to be believed-down to Eorzea in an attempt to annihilate all of the beast tribes in one fell swoop. Seemingly in conjunction with the project, Legati Gaius van Baelsar and Nael van Darnus are currently searching for relics known as "tomestones" said to contain records of the past, despite the fact that Ironworks studies have shown these items to be worthless...
Nope.
Spoiler: it was Exor.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXPmIAt5bUQ
leviathan was chained/bound to an island called Seal Rock by Llymlaen -The navigator.
there was also the "key" it was some type of horn, same one used in the uldah story by the looks of it. however it doesn't appear to be related to Leviathan.
there are also severe timeline issues in Limsa's quests, which make alot of stuff hard to follow
for instance during the very beginning when your on the boat you meet stahlman fighting the jellyfish, so either the whole boat ride was a flashback or there are timeline issues.
I'm curious as to how Ishgard will react to this. They've been at war with sentient dragons for such a long time, will they see Bahamut as the King of Wyrms? Will all their efforts be based on felling him?
I'm also interested to see if the Ascian will be brought up again in 2.0.
Watching the CS you can see Gwyrr-Ann from Living On A Prayer. You can see debris flying off to the 'west' so I'll assume Ishgard will be hit and this will force them to open their gates. With Bahamut and Nidhogg about to rampage we can expect the Ishgardians to be very active in 2.0.
I'm sure the Ascians will show up sometime. We also should be expecting the Paragons to show up (people/person who taught the Beastmen how to summon the Primals). Urianger could also be a Paragon as he has knowledge in summoning like when he attacked us in the GC quests. More Archons should be set to appear. Dravnians should be showing up.
I'm excited :}
Eorzea. A Land embraced by Gods and forged by Heroes.
Seeking control over this realm and its abundant crystal resources, the Garlean Empire (a scientifically advanced nation hailing from the north) begins gathering an army of epic proportions. To ready themselves for the coming conflict, the city-states of Eorzea reinstate the Grand Companies─comprehensive centers of command which combine the commonwealths' military and economic assets. However, the commander of the invading forces, VIIth Imperial Legion Legatus Nael van Darnus (a.k.a. “White Raven”), has plans of his own. Driven by madness, he silently plots to usher in a more permanent form of devastation: Meteor.
The Meteor project is comprised of a complex scheme employing arcane magicks and lost technology to summon the lesser moon down to Eorzea in an attempt to annihilate the realm's inhabitants in one fell stroke. Dalamud, as the celestial object is commonly known, is revealed to be a colossal machine launched thousands of years ago into the planet's orbit by an ancient civilization.
Realizing the futility of standing alone against such a threat, the Grand Companies put aside deep-rooted differences and consolidate their forces under the banner of the Eorzean Alliance.
At the behest of this new confederation, adventurers from across the realm take up arms and march on the floating islands of Rivenroad. Here, the brave heroes confront Nael van Darnus, and after a heated battle, put him to the sword. But by this time, the White Raven's plan is too far along, and Dalamud continues its descent.
In an eleventh-hour bid to save mankind, the Grand Companies turn to Louisoix, an enigmatic scholar hailing from the forgotten city-state of Sharlayan. The 'Archon,' as he is called, devises a plan to summon the power of the Twelve, Eorzea’s pantheon of guardian deities, and use that power to banish Dalamud back to the heavens. But for this to succeed, the rite needs to be performed directly beneath the point of Dalamud's impact. After several sleepless nights of deliberation by the realm's foremost arcanists and astronomers, that point is determined to be a vast swathe of barren lowlands in central Eorzea known as the Carteneau Flats. With this information in hand, the Grand Companies order the immediate mobilization of their forces.
Unbeknownst to the Alliance, the soldiers of the VIIth Imperial Legion, oblivious to their leader's dark intentions, have also begun gathering in central Eorzea. Ordered to defend the area with their lives, they prepare for a fight, unaware that victory will bring about their own demise.
And so, with two great hosts amassed, the Battle of Carteneau begins.
Both sides fight with a desperation-fueled frenzy, neither yielding the other ground, until from the skies, a great roar issues. Dalamud has begun its final metamorphosis. In a matter of moments, the stone and metal of the moon's crust crumble away to reveal none other than the elder primal, Bahamut, now free from his ancient prison.
And thus do the people of Eorzea learn what it is that truly faces them. Never was it the White Raven's intention to blight the realm with Dalamud, but what slumbered within it.
Enraged after aeons of duress, Bahamut unleashes his wrath upon the realm, spewing forth endless fire and destruction. Louisoix quickly conjures a barrier to protect what remains of the Eorzean Alliance, and then begins the arcane rite that will channel the power of the Twelve and focus it into rebinding Bahamut. The sheer force of the primal, however, is too strong for even the Archon, and his efforts fail.
Realizing the end is nigh, Louisoix summons the last of his strength to call upon Althyk, the Keeper, god of space and time, to send those surviving heroes into an aetherial rift, where they are to remain untouched by the passing of the seasons until it is once again safe to emerge...and continue their struggle to forge Eorzea's future.
Oh ALSO:
If when an Archon is felled, another one has to take his/her place, it wouldn't surprise me if Cid became the manifestation of Thaliak in Louisoix's place.
I mean, assuming the twelve have been around for a long long time, we can only assume there's been Archons for about as long.
We can assume the Archons are ageless at this point, but I doubt very much they're unable to die. It would make sense that Thaliak would choose another to take Louisoix's place.
Urianger is most likely an Arcanist or maybe even a Summoner, hence why he can summon up monsters during his quests. His staff is very similar to the ones the Arcanists in the Limsa guild had.
http://i.imgur.com/bxsqJ.jpg
Of course he was introduced way before the actual class revamps, I'm guessing the decision to change Arcanist weapons to books was pretty recent. Also Ishgard was closed and they didn't even have a stone inside their city like the others, so the poor guy was left all alone with nothing to do.
This would make sense as we've seen Alexander diametrically opposed to Bahamut in the past (ff9). It explains the dragon hunting easily, and Alexander could easily BE Ishgard.
Odin and Atomos bring up a few different questions though. From what we know, Odin will be a wandering primal gaining power not necessarily through the Aether, but rather through repeated defeats. His relationship to the story will be interesting.
Atomos, well I have a tin foil hat opinion on that. Atomos is frequently associated with space and time distortion (and gravity from the older ff games, although that role has fallen to Diabolos recently). I believe that it was not only the defeat of the primals but the appearance and actions of Atomos that prevented the re-sealing from succeeding. From my vague recollections of FFXI WoTG, atomos was used as a time travel device to prevent a chain of events from occuring. Now, could Atomos be sentient, and possibly wish to break the cycle of Astral/Umbral eras? In fact, upon further thinking he himself could be responsible for the cycle in the first place (had he not acted, the lands aether would have been richer, possibly leading the re-sealing to have been successful).
Yoshi-P certainly guided the story around many interesting topics. We have the fate of the GC companies, the march of Garlemald, the beastmen, the primals, Bahamut, and Atomos to worry about. They have enough interesting storyline options to design high level content around for at least an expansion or two.
So it's confirmed ARR is 5 years after the Dalamud incident? I was just thinking Lou probably ported us to the past to find solutions and strength to prevent things from happening or face Bahamut back to the present when we are ready? Learn cool moves and such where things are already ancient or lost in the present.
And another question is, does every era ended with Dalamud? Maybe this incident just keep cycling.
