Am I the only one who thinks the Hildebrand stuff is stupid?

It's all in good fun. I enjoy it myself.

What is this "Weeaboo". My reaction to hearing this was.. Okay so your going number 1 on a ghost? XD

I find him very amusing.
I wouldnt say thats my kind of humor, but somehow Hildibrand made me smile and laugh.
And hes memorable, even if he wont appear in 2.0 ppl wont forget about him and i cant think of many other NPCs who were able to achieve that status.

But i can understand if some ppl dont like him. And thats ok, as long as they dont expect SE to never add something like this again, just because they dont like it.

Eh the only remotely funny CS is the one where the sidekick finds the gun spear. The rest meh but to each there own.

the Hildebrand stuff is supposed to be stupid. That's kind of the whole point of it.

"weeaboo" is basically a derogatory term for non-Japanese immersed in Japanese culture, least that's my interpretation. Maybe went over my head.

Seems to me that in every SE game there is always at least one character that is intended to be humorous but some people find annoying. It is to be expected.

that doesn't mean something of another type of humor is actually funny. it just means it's from a different type of humor.

and i wasn't comparing types of humor. i was comparing one thing that actually is funny with one thing that actually isn't- regardless of type.

just because a song is from a different genre of music, that doesn't mean it can't be shit.

So something has to be "OMGROFLLOLOLHAHAHAA" hilarious to be considered funny? I don't think Hildibrand is anywhere near as funny as, let's say, Dave Chappelle...but that doesn't mean I still can't find it funny to some extent. If you didn't find the final quest where he shoots himself to Dalamud slightly silly, you have no sense of fun.

I've heard those same podcasts....

I agree with you. I've never laughed at them. On the other side, I was entertained by them and enjoyed the break from the seriousness. It's pretty Japanese-esque humor though.

Because being an obvious troll is definitely not embarrassing.

I never really cared for him, I don't find any kind of humor in over the top silliness like that. It's more like having to deal with that really annoying person we all know who never grew up and still acts like he's ten years old, and who at 30 something still thinks practical jokes are funny, but now I have to put up with him in the game too.

Plus, it plays on the whole stereotype of effeminate men being something you should laugh at and ridicule which is frankly an attitude I had hope had gotten left in the 19th century where it belonged.

Both chr's i dont find particularly funny but i do see their purpose. In more serious anime they usualy have at least one oddball chr for comic relief (as i've seen mentioned here already). While i see the appeal (some people like pokemon and harry potter after all...) Alex and Hildebrand get out of me is a groan and a facepalm. thats just my personal opinion, i'm relieved to see the OP post this. Now i dont feel so alone!

I feel the same way about Hildebrand as I do World of Warcraft.
