I got runner-up!
When did FFXIV become a hang-out spot for liberals? There's a reason why Reddit exists.
I'm seriously disappointed. I imagined they would at least pick up male and female runner-ups aside from the winner.
This is very like SE though. Ever the paragon of political correctness.
It can only be seen as sexist if you're the kind of person who looks for that wherever you can find it.
Consider the fact that the vast majority of gamers are men (this isn't sexisim, it's a fact) and consider the number of entries, there were probably at most like 5-10 entries with a female voice, so the odds assuming similar quality of all submissions that the females' entries would be chosen is quite small.
I'm sure if there was a good female voice entry they would have chosen it, because it could totally be done.
I find the accusations of sexism more appalling than the actual sexism would have been if they were truly committing it.
The contest was to pick the best, not the most unique. That'd be like pick a guy who ran a race backwards as a runner-up, even though he came in last place because it was a unique way of running.
I hardly think it is sexist.
The best were picked due to a criteria, and besides ... if this forum is anything to go by, the number of female entries would have been drastically lower then that of the male entries; therefore it was an increased likelihood that there would be all male finalists anyway.
The winner sounded like the original video but worse, the best one with the most feeling/emotion in his voice was the last video on the winner page. All the others lacked emotion and feeling and really made them sound dull and boring. Just saying...
Raini's voice is awesome ... she should've made a recording for this trailer!

Since we don't know the demographics, and I highly doubt an equal number of females submitted dubs as males, you can't blatantly call it sexism.
The winners sound pretty movie trailer-ish maybe the other female voices were too sexy haha (I know mine sucked so..), I'm just a little disappointed because I wanted to hear how my other female counterparts portrayed the voice-over :o
I honestly think the people are underestimating how good the Grand Prize and runners up were.
Of all the female voices I heard that have been submitted in the "We Dub to Make it Our Own" and "Let's Hear Your VA Talent" none I say were even close to good enough to the winners. I would double down on that and say that none of the voices submitted to either of those threads, male or female, could hold a candle to the sound quality that was produced from the winning voices.
That's not saying that they weren't good. It's just that the winners were so good. I really don't think it was a matter of sexism at all. If anything I'd be complaining that the suggestion that you don't necessarily need professional or great equipment to enter was a bit misleading. I know (not personally but through his podcasts) that Aniero has been doing this type of work since he was about 15 years old or so, and he didn't even get the grand prize. I think he pursued this avenue in college as well, and seeing as how he was talking about how he met Kallo in college (which was when he was a co host on Limit Break Radio that first aired... in well... Pre Aht Uhrgan at least.)... I think he's plenty older than 15 now.
If a guy like that gets "runner up", non-pros didn't stand a chance.
You may not have "liked" the style to which they narrated but their voice, tone, and audio were so unmistakably clear and pristine anyone who didn't have pro knowledge or equipment didn't really have a chance.
The one exception would be Goufunaki. His voice was great but it sounded like it went through a radio in comparison to the other entries.
Despite all that, a great way to show whether or not it was sexist is if you're a female, or you have access to a female's entry, and you truly think you or they did better, post the entry. That would pretty much shut everyone up. Not only different, but better (because obviously it's going to be different).
Until that time comes though the winners definitely deserve their prizes, hands down. Critically though, if you think all the winners sound the same, you really don't have an ear for this kind of thing and I wouldn't trust your judgement.
Having multiple voices would be just as cliche honestly. It'd be even worse if they had each voice finish the sentences of the voice before by repeating their last words.
Judging by the fan made video with the community team voices alone, I'd prefer a multi VO. I just think that fits better to what the core of an MMO is, but it's still just as cliche.
REPUBLIC REPUBLIC!! XD
