DDoS two hours after the patch goes live is ridiculous

I'd like SE to at least give us a breakdown of what's particularly causing this, where it's most affected, etc.
Give us some info, don't just say "Technical difficulties due to 'DDoS' attacks-" with a depressed moogle...

All these attacks for, what, a year straight now? Longer??? Constantly????
Are we planning on some sort of compensation for the worse days?
Are we planning on just letting it send it's course??
Can we get some cloud servers yet? Something??
I genuinely dont know the logistics of all this nonsense, but it really seems to me like these servers need some work..

Square is going to continue to tell us to just deal with their pathetic excuse for a service, regardless of the fact that we pay a subscription for said service. We need to get a class-action suit going in NA.

I only dodge the disconnection by using VPN. Still gave me large lag spike but I ultimately survived that while seeing everybody in Limsa square getting their pokeball of doom lol.

Funny how it only happens to NA... Which is Hosted on an NTT network.


EU isn't hosted on NTT and is fine.

What weekly troll threads lmao? I barely even come here anymore. I truly live in some people's heads rent free.

Also this DDOS is bad for business. Kinda annoying I have to log into like 40 accounts every time there's a DDOS. Money's good though for barely any work. Nice side hustle.

If this continues, it's going to 100% guarantee that the world first raid clear will not come from NA.

Regardless of whether this is a DDOS attack or not.

If I pay for a service, I expect to get that service. If unable to provide that service, I expect compensation. It's as simple as that.

Oh yeah. Race to world first is heavily stacked against NA. You have a better chance of a runningback making MVP than any NA FC winning this race. The server issues on NA are going to make it impossible.

I was going to resub this xmas but i don't think i want to. it's been 5 days since patch and i have been unable to properly play.

And again. This game is honestly a fucking joke. I've been disconnected a total of about 18 different times since the patch hit on Tuesday.

I honestly don't think these are all DDOS attacks... I think there's a severe problem with server stability post-patch.

Its probably NTT, and until they choose to switch to provide their service properly its not gonna be fixed. Its just gonna kill out the game again as people get annoyed from this problem never being fixed.

I don't truly think it has ever been DDOS, but the decision by Square Enix to penny pinch.

Prior to COVID, I recall servers having nodes in NY and Montreal Canada, and I never experienced DDOS.

Post-covid, SE merges all these nodes into Cali with a cheap-ass ISP. No more nodes in NY and Montreal. And we have been plagued with their so-called "DDOS" that they blame, and claim there is not much they can do.

But think about it lol. Connect the dots.

I think it is time whenever they are on live letter or live stream, to demand answers on this. It seems they are just going to remain quiet and shrug it off since not enough people are making noise and we all just throw money at FF14 as it is.

Its bee a couple hours and the server went offline again. Almost 1000 in the queue, and I pay for this experience. Please fix this, its not hard to do...

DDoS attacks have been plaguing this game for years, and Square Enix’s response has been exactly what you’d expect: absolutely nothing. Players dump ridiculous amounts of money into this game, and in return we get the same unresolved problems over and over. Funny how it’s “not an issue” everywhere else, though. I’ve played on Japanese and European servers, and somehow the sky isn’t falling there.

So no, you’re not crazy. The white knights can stop pretending this is normal, and SE can stop acting like they’re delivering anything close to our money’s worth.

I.T. professional here. I don't care what they say. It is NOT due to DDOS attacks. It is their shitty servers. It's even causing the forums to lag.

A lot of people in the community are IT professionals or are otherwise very experienced with computers. People in the IT field are more likely to play a PC MMORPG. Their primary audience is frankly computer nerds. Added to that, how it's become IT or bust as far as jobs go over the years.

You can see that so clearly just by such things as how many people have insane gaming computers with multiple monitors in the tech support forums, how many people can casually participate in a discussion about programming in the game, etc.

It's all speculation at the end of the day. It can be both things at the same time (DDoS attack + hardware or software that doesn't handle it well). Or it could just, in fact, be a DDoS. Usually, it seems to be an attack on a node near their server that everyone's connection goes through, so they don't have direct control over it. The other regions aren't experiencing it.

As far as the forums go, they used to have way more lag. They eventually figured out the reason for it. It was because the forums got stuck processing massive open threads with thousands of pages, and this background processing was making it take minutes to load certain pages. They went and closed the biggest threads because of it. Usually very fast for me, otherwise.

And again just now.
