I mean I know there are plenty of others in the same boat. If 8.0 comes around and the game doesn't make some significant changes then it's probably finally time to cut the losses and bounce for good.

8.0 still would have to be designed to work withe the current encounter design who is at fault for Jobs beeing dumbed down to begin with.
Aka I have no trust at all and the moment my playtime runs out I am gone.
I would love to be wrong an 8.0 keeping all promises made turning they game to an actual playable state... But as it stand the devs have simplie lied to us to often to give there promises any worth.
RIFT is still... existent
It is amazing that there are still people who trust yoshi p, when he has lied with things he promises but does not deliver even he does not even say if they are progressing or not, just "please look foward to it", a este punto deseo que exista otro mmo más divertido que ff14
People should learn how Japanese people talk, they never give it to you straight answers. When the thing you want from devs is straight up honesty on what they want to do, what they can do, what they can't do, what they don't want to do. But instead we are kept in the shadows guessing what they have for us next. It's baffling that people actually let this slide, but here we are, waiting in the dark for "please look forward to it" without any roadmaps.
At this point, they need to fire YoshyP and hire someone with Fresh new ideas
Honestly not even shur if Yoshida is still involved as game director or if they just present him for live letters and interviews as some kind of memeable living maskot.
I mean we do know most of his attention was on FF 16 for large parts of Endwalkers development.
Yeah I don't mean to beat a dead horse but I just haven't really been invested since 6.0. And idk I could be wrong but I think I heard that Occult Crescent isn't going to give external xp meaning that they still plan to force us to be the sole support to new players by doing garbage dailies etc. I just want that adventurer feeling again and I don't think they plan on going that route. They axed almost all bits of the story that I was invested in that was built up from 1.0 (arbitrarily in some cases last expansion) and I just think that maybe people are right. Maybe the game isn't made for me anymore. I took Yoshi P's advice and went to play other games, and I realized that it wasn't rose colored glasses, and it wasn't me being burnt out from playing ffxiv, it was that the game has just changed in ways that feel shallow. Some people like repeating brainless content but I want to play an MMO. I want to explore a massive world.
I have resubbed to prep for Occult Crescent hoping that it will be content that will be more my style, but idk for some reason the vibe im getting is just feeling like its gonna be the same old same old with more people involved due to it being new. idk I hope i'm wrong, but we are gonna be on the half way patch and all we've seen are jobs still getting nerfed, and more of the same. Everyone said the MSQ was so much better but all I saw was that they added a new emo character, and oh boy sphene is alive. It just feels like all aesthetic, and not much substance. And I really mean this, I feel like both of the raid stories are easily 10x more interesting.
But hey, if you're a person that likes everything, don't let me be a cloud on your sunny day. Conversely though, if you are having weird feelings about everything, don't feel like you're going crazy, others feel it too.
I know I wont be here when 8.0 drops but is there still space on the demands list? ^^
Give us anything that makes EXP worthwhile again once you reach levelcap with all jobs. I sometimes forget that EXP do even exist in the game because they have no value to me anymore.
It could give you maybe some unlocks to glam your attack animation or an alternate design for Scholars ugly angle enshroud that was addet in Dawntrail... Really no Idea what the thought process behind that was.
I know plenty of people who play both games. But I think they have different expectations of both.
I mean, I enjoyed both plenty well, even when they were each more distinct (including from their current forms).
And having enjoyed both doesn't make dumb things, when done by either game, any less dumb -- including having housing as a fairly main feature and then having only enough for a small portion of players.
@Naoki -- Why would we not want that fixed? That WoW does better in some regard doesn't mean XIV should actively seek not to in order to seem "distinct". It's already sanded down most of its meaningful distinctions in actual gameplay and features in order to be "more XIV" (read: making the game as plug-and-play [just put combos and oGCDs in template order and go] as to be as casual-friendly as possible even while leaving all meaningful content a matter of rote memorization, as if that's what was always meant to make the game what it is), leaving only its weird dichotomies as what most directly opposes WoW.
The open world definitely could use some attention. FATEs are literally just kill X number of mobs. You kill 15 mobs, or one really big mob, or 15 mobs and then talk to an NPC. The last time we had a FATE that was different was in Stormblood with that one FATE where you had to chase down the big mob and kill it before it reaches the town (Which does nothing, doesn't remove vendors or repair NPCs or anything). Everything is so damn static and boring I was actually pleasantly surprised to see mobs interacting with each other on Mare Lamentorum, granted it's just one mob killing another and getting a buff, but it was nice to see. It's just so sad to see 14 being stifled by either lack of creativity, its archaic engine/code, or both.
Ok quit then, fare thee well, but You'll be back soonish ...
So, I think OP should just shorten the path and go.
Everyone knows that this game won't change much at 8.0. It didn't changed that much at 7.0, nor 6.0, not even at 5.0, 4.0 or 3.0. Only time we saw a really drastic change was from 1.0 to 2.0.
And is well-known that Japanese is resistant to changes. Specially drastic changes, more if the product is a good chunk of S-E earnings.
So, don't expect anything beyond incremental changes at 8.0. You'll be disappointed otherwise.
Yea, I'm leaving soon too
As someone who has been here since 1.0 beta, if 8.0 is just more of the same, esp since the quality of the same has been plummeting for years now, I have already made the decision that I will be gone. I am right now having way more fun and am enjoying interacting with the community in FFXI and WoW than I have had here in years, since both feel like they are in freefall in FFXIV. I stuck with them through 1.0 and all the ups and down since, but the downs are drastically outweighing the ups and I just do not feel like there is even a point to anything in this game anymore. It's a sad day when their 23 year old mmo is in better shape, making better improvements and have a better relationship with the player base than their 15 year old one.
Have been with FFXIV since 1.0 beta and after how bad this expansion I have no plans buying any more of them.
