It's not like I'm saying get rid of the chocobo jumping, I like that.

I agree, although than again this is what everyone said was going to happen almost the exact second they said they where going to implement jump who knows how many months or maybe even year? ago.
It's people like you who destroy creativity and freedom with your ridiculous complaints. The notion catches on with other like minded drones and soon the dev's cave to your wining, and moaning and pouting becuase the greasy wheel gets the grease, so to speak.
Now, shut up. Please.
Sigh..... When jump is added, I and other will be jumping with joy all day long.
No. You shut up.
It's people like you that force every game into the same slot. Not every game needs jump, and forcing it into design doesn't make it any more free or creative. Now I don't hope this is the case, I'm sure Square has done their best to integrate it well into the new world. But the very reason we have jumping is because "Like minded drones pouted and moaned about it" and "the dev's caved to their wining".
Well first off everyone in there moms knew this was going to happen, ever play WoW? ppl jump in there every second of every day its just a huge game of jumping jacks. Second off..................... You have created a thread about everything <,<. Third off, i think i need to go outside and slap myself for posting in one of your threads XD.
Honestly, I hate people who constantly hop through MMOs, but I dont think we need anything ridiculous like a long wait between jumps.. Maybe we could have something where people who jump five times in a row get exhausted and forcibly emote bent over hands on needs and breathing heavily or something.
Maybe they can make new emotes for it, to discourage jumping.
Player 1 'uses Jump..for the 80th time' Player 2 uses "Ankle kick" /emote and player 1 falls on their ass, disabling jumping for 10 minutes per need to recover.
Its silly and never would happen, but amuses me anyways.
Environmental situations that discourage and encourage jumping would be nice. Pitfalls that you need to jump to get over, but low hanging ceilings that if you jump into will damage your character. Perhaps the Crystal Tower can have gravity defying rooms, if you jump you float up into the walls, having to find alternate ways back down to your party or return to the entrance.
Please do not limit or do anything to discourage jumping.
o that just made me remember, what they could do is give use something to hook into your computer and update your account so like you can jump in game based on how many jumping jacks you did in RL? like um.......... i forgot what it waas called but that one MMORPG where you got money based on how much exercise you did in RL you just wore a heart monitor and other stuff and when you where done you uploaded it to your account and it gave you in game currency. yeah............ do that stuff!
Just close your eyes... Problem solved. ;)
Still, limits in this regard are bad.
i don't like it when people run with sharp objects. it deeply bothers me because it is unsafe and i fear they might hurt themselves or others. can you please restrict running? I get so annoyed when I see people running with spears. I'm like PLEASE STOP.. PLEASE ;___; it makes me so sad. SE please take me seriously, ok?
EDIT: It's ok for chocobos to run. but just not players. I don't think players should be running because that is bad. also, could you guys do something about this gosh darn grass? I think I saw a pixel off on that blade over there.
people are just turned off by the constant jump people did in wow, and usually it's just rouges.
Since I'm a Legacy player and I get 8 char per server, I am pretty sure my first order of business upon 2.0 release is going to be making a Lalafell with the child voice on Sargantas, finding Rokien, and spamming /laugh and jump as I follow him around.
Im so gonna find new stuff to sit on with this spanktastic feature!
Shocked someone hasn't made a gif of the jump animation and set it as a sig yet.
How about a fatigue system? That worked out really well before.
first it was the grass, now its this again...

Go away Rokien.
I started out hating the idea. But now that i've seen the screens, I can be ok with it. FFXIV has a rare nuance to it that makes the characters feel alive and heavy. They actually feel like they could be real people (as opposed to many other MMOs where it feels like you are controlling a shell). It's very hard to explain the sensation, but SE always gets it right and thats part of the reason I loved XI. Anyways, considering SE's ability to make a character have weight in that sense, I have utmost confidence that the implemented jump will retain the same values.
So I have changed my opinion and in full support of SE's actions. Like that matters. XD
I will do nothing but spam jump, why, cause I paid money for this game to do what ever the $%^& I want to THAT'S WHY!!! RAGE STOMP!
-facepalm to thread-
Who cares if a person wants to spam jumping.. if they want to spend most of their time pressing the jump button, let them be.
@ Rokien
The moment you start paying for my subscription is the moment I start caring about what you do/do not want me to do. If I feel like jumping around like an idiot that's my prerogative because I paid money to do so. Just because you get bothered by it, doesn't mean it has to stop.
You have no control of the things people do in the real world, why would you try to assert that power in a game world?
Oh wait, you do have the power to assert *some* control... If someone in the real/game world did something you didn't like you could give them some incentive to stop it. Such as money, or other things which would probably make them stop for a while.
With rpgs, at some point, you're going to get bored and find something noninfluencial to your resources/gameplay to do to entertain yourself. I can't think how many times during pretty much any game I've played, where I find something like this. Playing skyrim and running across a long treck of land? I start jumping and singing to myself in my OWN entertainment, catching butterflies and what not. Same goes for minecraft, or while quest grinding in wow, or while waiting for my friends in diablo (shooting my abilities around) or pretty much any game. That has some non resource depleting, noninfluencial ability to do something other than just stand there idle.
This is a non influential choice of personal entertainment or expression. Some people will do this more than others, and most will use it to get over obsticles rather than just jumping randomly.
they should add like a really nasty grunt to your character whenever you jump around characters named rokien :P
...but on a more serious note...dude wtf is up with the grass!
