I love jog personally and I'm a pranged main who had peloton become slightly less useful.
This is such a nothingburger of a rant. Imagine complaining about extra optional convenience. (And yeah, it is optional -- I have seen plenty of people in random dungeons who *never* use Sprint throughout the entire dungeon; even if it would have been helpful in some way other than "get place faster brrrrr"; even if they are tanks and Sprint would have helped them take a lot less damage mid-pull. I've not *once* ever seen anyone in those dungeons give them any crap about never using Sprint. It's to the point where I suspect many players don't have it on their hotbars or even know it exists.)
If you at least came at this from the perspective of a phys ranged lamenting about how Peloton is now effectively worthless, then I would have at least understood that to some degree.
I guess you're also the sort to never make use of slidecasting on a caster class because of how "silly" it looks, too?
Yes, that's exactly what we are saying. If you don't like running faster (for SOME reason), why would you be using Sprint in the first place?
I also think this is a ridiculous rant.
Normally I wouldn't "bump" something this silly up the forum charts, but for whatever reason it's at the top now.
Topics die when people don't post, folks. Let this one die.
What shit takes the cake? I just remembered the POTD issue maybe making something useful out of the jog.
I still abide to what I said.
Edit: I was so confused what you were talking about... but I see what you mean... I have no recollection writing that on the post forum!!!!! That does not excuse it. You are right. Sorry for that rudeness. I am kind of weirded out. I normally do not write such rude comment on forum!
First of all, love your work here. Big fan. Secondly, I feel like people took this seriously and it reads like satire. Again, big fan.
"Forum Post" is the worst addition to the game - rant
So, this will be a rant about the good old "Forum Post" introduced in 1.0
Forum Post genuinely makes me want to stop playing. I know very well that that sounds strange and stupid, fully aware, but i just HATE the rants about everything, and to have that "forced" upon me actively makes the game worse. When reading reddit I already hated reading every post complaining about the smallest thing, and now having to to that on the forums..? No thanks.
Now i have to choose between always having my character read the forum posts, or be punished for not doing that... I remember when they added special features when quoting others and I was SO hyped about it. Now, I want to remove forums from the internet entirely - though I can already hear people in forum posts yelling at me for not using forum posts. Ugh...
Forums are my favourite place in the internet, but I always hated how the forum posts made me read pointless crap. But I still loved the forum so I ignored it. Now ALL forum posts have an EVEN WORSE psot..! Why..!?
Now, I understand that most people probably love the introduction of forum posts, but personally I've never had an issue with the normal reddit for the past 11 years of playing, and I've no idea why they felt the need to change that. We've got reddit, twitter, Google+, SHOUT in cities, facebook, and this patch even gave us MySpace. WHY on earth do we need forum post too?
Please, at least give me an option to toggle them off permanently...
Again, I know it's a stupid thing to be mad about, but I genuinely feel like it makes my gameplay experience worse, as weird as that may sound.
Okay, rant over...
What do you think? Do you love forum posts, do you HATE it like I do? Or do you not care at all?
Thanks for reading
Worst? No! Its pointless!
The whole point of jog is to go faster in zones where you can't mount up! Cities and Instances!
- Cities - The whole point of mount farming is, to show them to others, but the only space where you can do this is in cities, the social hubs. It would be easier to simply allow mounts in cities than to add jog! Than you see nothing? In WoW it works! It will also work in FF14.
- Instances - There is no reason to not use mounts there but if you don't want mounts, change the respawn point simply to "10 yalm before the boss" and not "after the last boss".
The implementation of job show me only two things. The dev team have no clue about there own game and who much they do not care about the players. 4 jobs get a call shot to the nuts from them and no compensation like to give them "mounting speed" with there now useless skill!
And for all these who say "we whine about everything", nobody likes it, when you get robbed by the devs for nothing and you get nothing back!
So when you take a class a special ability, give them something back, a toy for a toy!
Now this thread really has gone places.
Is it time already to discuss the pros and cons of pineapple on pizza?
Pineapple on Pizza is great!

Really it's not a jog, but a jog sped up to the speed of a run (which looks a bit unrealistic animation-wise) even for my Miqo'te that has a good run animation.
But I'll take a fast forward Benny Hill sketch run animation over slowly trying to get anywhere when not an aiming class haha.
Honest question... Why not just make Sprint and toggle on/off outside of combat?
Why implement job giving me this janky ass speed up animation insted of just giving me a sprint that do's not end after 20 sec.
About the animation: Jog does the exact same thing Peloton has done since forever, same run speed, even the (lack of) distinct animation from normal run, so while it is an upgrade, it just feels like "Oh it's Peloton that I don't have to keep refreshing". and I can always right click the buff to take it off when I don't want it.
I agree that a toggle would be best though, as it works in PvP and Cosmic.
Jog feels like a second class solution to a problem that only exists because the Devs seem to insist on 20s Sprint timer... What ever this adds to the gameplay is lost on me.
Also I am for Peloton changes so that it's speedbuff can be used inside combat. Make the timer shorter or what ever but it would give the skill utility.
It's simple, a lot of FFXIV combat revolves around positioning, being faster=easier mechanics, a huge part of why SCH's Expedience is absurdly powerful isn't because it is a good mitigation tool, though it also is that, but it is also a party wide Sprint whenever the SCH wills it, and it cannot be understated how powerful that is, that one party member that seem to struggle with a mechanic and just barely doesn't make it will be able to make it reliably now, even the 20 second Sprint makes absolute sense from a pure combat point of view because it adds a tiny bit of nuance for when to use Sprint in dungeons, and trying to use it *just before* you aggro a pack of enemies to get the most out of it, I want to make it clear this isn't much, it barely moves the needle, but it is above 0, and that's important, nor should it be given up, giving up on things little by little has led to a lot of frustration from the player base.
However they also shown that they can just replace skills with other skills based on location, Cosmic does exactly that, so why not do that instead, have one toggle-based Sprint for overworld areas, including cities, and one timer-based Sprint for instanced content, you can even keep Jog, Jog would have a real role for things like Alliance Raids, where there IS a significant amount of walking between combat clusters, so even that isn't a bad idea.
I agree that Peloton should be changed, but I don't know what that would be, Jog did take it out to back of a shed and killed it.
^^^ALL THIS.
There's several animations for running that I don't care for in this game:
Midlander female run swinging arms from the elbows reads "girly run" to me: the kind that's inefficient and what girls often did because it was "expected" of them.
Elezen female run involves bellydancer-level swinging of the hips: as in, all I can think is "Oh hell her lower back and hips are gonna hurt SO much from that after a while."
Male Au Ra have an extremely "hulking" hunched-over run (that's very menacing to me). So do male Hrothgars, but at least with the Hroths their standing body-type is also hunched a bit, so it makes a little more sense with them; male Au Ra stand very straight. Male Miqos also do a bit of a hunch when running, but not as much. They also stand with their hands doing a strange "sort of clawing" look like there's a neurological issue going on with them.
Know what? I just figure "Well they're trying to make the races/genders look more different from each other," and I let it go. If I genuinely can't stand to watch that type of character running, I pick a different character to play. *shrug* Fantasia is a thing.
But as said above, the big *gain* with jog is that it's faster than our regular movement through a city, and honestly I just want to GET TO THE PLACE. Usually as fast as I can. Because I'm doing things, and don't care to slowly "fast-walk" through places I've seen a bajillion times now. If "sprint" was continual I'd be even happier, but getting sprint and then jog is still better than our former "fast walk," IMO.
Which is also why they gave us a MUCH faster sprint for CE: the area on the moon is HUGE, and it would take FOREVER to get places even with the old sprint, so they made sprint there even faster. (Which makes the new sprint in cities and job feel really slow, once you've been on the moon for a while, lol.)
Anywho, people can get upset over anything and that's fine, but to me this is a really *weird* thing to get THIS upset over. *shrug* Ah well.
