Lmfao, If either of you two showed up DRG or PLD for any actual endgame content like CC speed runs, AV speed runs, Garuda ETC with any competent group of players actually capable of winning you would be laughed at.

The fact that you don't know this, or are in denial makes you look even worse. The fact that the two of you have never even cleared non speed run CC or Garuda also makes any of your opinions on the subject completely unreliable.

I don't get offended easily, I usually just respond with snarky posts to people who are snarky to me to begin with for fun. In this case however, I'm actually offended by how stupid both of you are.

I'm sorry you're not willing to get out of your comfort zone, but it's been proven over four months ago that speed runs are possible without cookie cutter setups. The 17 minute speed run, maybe not. But everything else seems fairly plausable in under 25 minutes.

Again, you must be really, really awful at this game if that's the case.

I mentioned in my post already that you can carry DRG or PLD through an event as long as there are skilled players using them. I just think it's obvious that they would be more useful on something else.

Mijin, though I agree with you that Miqo'te and Roe.. are hard to spell at times. I do however like their Unique names, so I rather keep these names over XI names.. because they are two different games and they are unique.

I've finished them with out speed run many times, and I've even obtained some DL. I took a break from the game for a while to play d3, when I came back I obviously wasn't in my static anymore so I decided to focus on crafting instead. At least I still have clears, the other two didn't.

It's not like you have the speed runs and I don't or anything... you're April 29th Garuda kill was a BLM burn too undoubtedly.

The point still remains that seriously players don't take drg and pld seriously though.

But that's the last I'll say about that subject.

My ls was killing Garuda the day before yesterday they had 0 drgs in the group so I can whole wholeheartedly disagree with the statement that they are the norm.

I'll admit, because I was aggravated I intentionally disregarded the fact that PLD's have like a hand full niche fights in the game where they are preferable. So your like half right at best. There is however, absolutely nothing you need DRG for in this game and no situation where another job cant do better.

The issue at hand is that Yoshi will destroy FFXIV at the rate he is going. It seems that Tanaka had the right idea compared to the direction Yoshi is taking it, (speculation at best) and by giving the players and or 1 group of players every damn thing they want. I have said it before and Ill say it again they could have use the same systems in FFXI and improved upon them greatly, but they didnt. What Yoshi has done has taken things from other games (imo should be used but to a lesser extent). At the rate Yoshi is going with all the easy mode crap this game has a high possiblity that 1-2 groups of player out of 3 will completely abandon it come 2.0 (casual, mid-hardcore and hardcore). Unfortunatly casuals come and go like water and once and if both mid and hardcore leaves, this game wont beable to sustain itself. There needs to be all 3 types of players and a balance to everything and not lean too far one way as this game is now currently doing. Here's to the hopes that 2.0 will accomplish something the dev's cant seem to accomplish in 1.0.

Then stop playing. If you really think Yoshida is destroying this game and you really hate the direction it's going in, I would highly suggest you find another game to play. I'm not trying to be an ass here but the point of playing games should be to have fun and enjoy yourself. If this game isn't doing that for you and is only going further from that then perhaps it's not the game for you.

On topic though: The race names are fine as is. They have their own identities despite looking similar to the XI ones (like Roegadyn having females). This isn't XI, get over it.

I agree with you they should have just followed the path already carved out by XI instead of trying to reinvent the wheel. How much different do you think Blizzards next MMO will be from WoW. My guess is not very. FFXI-2 would have made a better game but I guess this is as close as its gonna get.

It's possible to find great fault in things and still consider them the most desirable option available. That's how I feel about XIV. Maybe he does too. I will complain to great extent about things I think are stupid, but I still love MMO's and this is the best option out for my taste right now. I would rather be shot in the stomach and left to slowly bleed to death than play WoW, but that doesn't mean I think XIV is perfect.

No. Hyur, Mi'qote, Lalafell, Elezen and Roegadyn sound way better. Sure XI players refer to them as such, but I generally call them by their new and proper names over the XI counterparts unless I am talking to an old XI buddy then it just feels natural. Though to all the people that never touched XI that doesn't make much sense to them.

I think anyone who wasn't familiar with XI have caught on by now to what people are talking about when they say Mithra, taru, etc. The only new one I think sounds better is Roegadyn, they look better in this game too. On the other hand tarus are way more creepy in XIV than they were in XI especially the ones with a mustache ><

There wasn't a direct relation between the names issue and that. People got off subject a little. Edit: Also, why would I wanna read about a Pointless subject as "brings FFXI names to FFXIV". I like the names from 11 don't get me wrong , but this is a different game, a Different world, different Threats... And they did bring some things over from 11 ( like Auto- Attack). Keep FFXI to its own Unique self, and let FFXIV be Unique as well.. you know.. that is how FF games are anyways right? Unique?

No where did i read that anyone who does should killed. Theres no need to infer that your being persecuted because people disagree with your opinion.

I've overheard plenty of FF11 vets in my LS refer to FF14 races as FF11 races. It doesn't bother me. But that is not what the OP put up for request/discussion. And thats why i disagree with the OP's request.

As to the reply about FF14 going in the wrong direction now i really can't say. I came here at the start of 2012. What i can say is that from my perspective, i've enjoyed the direction so far with each patch.

Well I was the OP, and what everyone seems to miss is the point that this whole thread was just a flippant comment. I was just sort of looking to see how many other people called them by their own names. I know they'll never change the names, I was just being silly. I do prefer the old names though, but maybe only because of nostalgia.

While I was exaggerating when I mention the death sentence thing, people actually did feel so strong to personally attack me and flip out at the concept that anyone would call them by their old name, as to act as if it was actually harmful to people by calling the races by their old names. It was really wild, and kind of amusing. I would never imagined people feel strongly about something so frivolous. After seeing how strongly people feel, I hope they don't ever change the names... apparently some people would really be emotional wrecks over it.

And I would never request for anyone to go back to wow... what kind of heartless monster would do something like that?

I try to remind my RL friends who played FFXI with me in the past to call them with the new names.

Just call them what you want and be done with it chances are most people will know what you're talking about and if they don't then one sentence is all you need to explain it.
