Why care about single digit percentage optimizations when you are not even in the single digit percent range of players? Just play standard, it's totally fine (barring maybe TOP P6 lol)
That's like being too afraid to walk unless you think you can race against Usain Bolt one day.
Except you'll still be able to sprint 100m in about 9,68 seconds without changing anything about the training regimen you are comfortable with. But no, you must give up the race, you'll never be good enough.
Dunno why people are so hung up on nonstandard doing more damage -standard gets you 99% of the way there and the overwhelming majority of players are not even close to that point, and you don't need plugins when you could get a healer to heal prepull and watch their mp regen to determine the server tick.
The real benefit of nonstandard was the freedom to adjust how long your lines were and to move instants around to wherever you'd want them. It's incredibly liberating and with enough skill you can run circles around RDM. For a lot of people nonstandard is straight up easier, across all skill ranges. It doesn't take a postdoc in statistical thermodynamics to pick up the basics of double transposes or recovery lines. All these changes will do is compress the skill range and BLM does not need a higher skill floor than what it already has.
They merely just killed the fun of Paradox Mobility and Thunder Proc Marathons. It allowed deviance from the norm. Learning how to Paradox swap wasn't even difficult. But it's really a case of overcorrecting. Sharpcast will be missed. Baking Sharp into Manafont as a 2 minute do it all ability is very boring design IMO.
I don't feel like it was as broken as say Monk's Dragon Kick Spam rotation.
When the devs overcorrect and don't offer options/choices on how to approach combat situations it makes for a boring system where you can do very little to improve or find hidden tech that allows you to play a job class in different ways.
It's why people love Monster Hunter with the different gear, weapons and builds. The constant pruning of anything fun or engaging with job classes has really got to stop.
But hey at least SMN went unchanged you can still one button Macro it.
