I think it's a shame that swimsuits won't be available at least from NPC for those who couldn't attend last summer. :(
Let's just hope they'll be available next year then. Don't lose hope people. :3

I guess. The male ones where nothing special and had this weird bikini/bra to them, I wasn't a fan. I think I'll enjoy the Yukata much more.

I don't even know whether I have kept any of those swimsuits, apart from the golden one... I can't understand why people care that much, while those gears will most probably get recycled for another event in the upcoming years anyway. :/

SE :( you make me really really REALLY sad. I had a family emergency last year and could not participate in the summer event. I have been waiting a whole year for you guys to release the swimsuits again and then I come to read that you wont be doing so. It just breaks my heart it really does. I have waited so long only to have my dreams and hopes shattered at the last minute T^T. I seriously almost feel like crying :(.

Did you keep up with the last year? This isn't the first time they told us this.

No I didn't see any other posts about this. The only reason I know of it now is bec a ls friend linked me to the thread when we were talking about it. Some people don't troll the forums day and night.

Perhaps no one is entitled to anything...that is the cause of a lot of problems in life...sense of entitlement. However we ARE allowed to be upset over it and feel bummed out.

See, now this is a good post. Realizing that you shouldn't feel entitled, but that you are free to feel upset. Like if you barely missed a contest or a limited item ran out, just because you drove across the country to get it, it doesn't mean you deserve it; even if someone took a five minute walk and was able to get it. That person'd be rightfully pissed.

A lot of good points have already been made, so I'm not going to go and beat a dead chocobo. I was around for the 2011 Heavensturn with the Usagi Kabuto, but since I recently returned, I missed out on the Dragon Kabuto for 2012. While it'd be nice to have one, I realize it's an *annually-exclusive* event, so sucks for me.

That being said, I think it would be more fair to allow the swimsuits to be sold (for jacked up prices) to others, but then people would want the Goobbue Horn (which I partially returned to get) to be accessible, too. I don't know, just my opinion, but I think useless, aesthetic, one-time exclusive items are just fine. Sorta makes one appreciate them more.

I'm pretty sure she's not demeaning anyone other than those who had the ability to play XIV at that period but chose not to and now that they feel XIV is worth playing they want everything they missed when the game was F2P even without a cashshop for over a year.

That describes quite a lot more people than who literally had no ability to play. Anyone would get irritated at people feeling entitled to everything even when they weren't around.

I guess we must learn our lesson..revolve our lives around FFXIV and their event, screw RL or these incidents that may actually legit and get in the way of us playing...lest we will never be able to get the in game item again! Thanks SE, they might also want to remove that little warning about RL coming first...clearly that is not the case or their intention. <3

Next time there is a holiday..like Christmas...screw going to visit family, I will have to stay home to obtain the item.

This is still going on? Look again as I said before. The dev/mod said it wasn't coming out this year. That however doesn't mean that it won't be making a come back especially if we're all nice and happy about it. I for one am glad that they are trying to do something different because I was able to get my swimsuits and came on. For the ones who weren't able to come on to get it it sucks that you didn't though they aren't all that great to begin with stats wise just gives diff options for underwear. For the ones who had the ability to sign on but didn't. Unfortunately you'll just have to wait patiently again. arguing is pointless at this point in time because it's not going to change their opinion, but maybe after this someone puts in a request nicely on here for us to be able to get them next summer event as well as the Yukatas if anyone misses them this year then they most likely will put them in. So, instead of complaining that they won't be making a come back this year lets all talk about how those Yukata's are going to look like (which they look pretty cool in my opinion) or even speculate on future events we still have the Christmas one and Halloween that are coming up soon too and I want those to be different from last years as well. Or get different things with them.

There's no excuse to NOT make the swimwear available this year, It's an important piece for a slot that has very few options and it is a vanity piece that can be worn in PVE. It was also released at a time when even loyal fans might have been taking breaks from XIV, I'd go so far as to call it the dark age of ffxiv.

1 year is a long enough wait, and this is the kind of thing that should be available to everyone within that time frame since it's a seasonal piece. 2 years is a very long time especially on the mmo front (especialy one with 20k? subs on the brink of death purely floating on 6 screen shots we've been given of what's to come), and most people on that time frame will give up hope...

is the skimpiest underwear by far in the game a reason for people to quit over? Most likely, I would bet there are many many people that were eagerly anticipating this summer event for that very reason.

This decision will make many subbing customers upset, and I can relate and agree with their frustration. It should be hot fixed in to the patch and at least put on a vendor if the old quest line can't be reinstated... or you can just tell me to deal with it and think it's fine that I should wait 2 years, I wont be the only one that runs out of patience on this narrow view of how to handle these things.

They don't need an excuse they simply choose not to. If you didn't get it last year, tough titty, you missed it. It's not integral to gameplay at all, I can promise you wearing a bikini under your armor will not enhance your gameplay compared to wearing a mid level upgrade to the base underwear set. It's nice to have but it is not at all that important.

2010-2011, summer of last year you had the ability to get it. People didn't want to play XIV even when it was F2P so technically no one is entitled to get it but those who chose to play the game even in it's rough state.

Unless the event is the exact same event there's absolutely no reason for them to be available from this years summer event.

It wouldn't make sense to offer 2 different sets of summer event items in one event. It makes MORE sense to introduce both items next year because by then there's a good chance it will give people who never touched XIV the first time the opportunity to get it.

It's a damn bikini, it's not the end of the world.

Elexia, it's not hurting you in any way if they offered it and it's important to many people. Please get over yourself. The amount of selfishness over this item you are showing is astounding.

For many people with certain personality types things like this are important and is a major reason they play MMOs just because you don't understand doesn't mean it's wrong. Many people will be upset. It's the kind of thing that will vastly improve my game play and not having one will drastically reduce my enjoyment (1 year wait IS enough). Who are you to tell me otherwise?

How about I didn't lose my chance and SE does the right thing and makes customers happy with a fix to their patch for an important yet trivial to hand out piece. I waited over 2.5 years for SE to make any LS on the biggest XI server at the time able to farm sky over RMT being blocked by Ulikumi. It forced many of my friends etc. to quit the game. 2.5 years later they added a ??? and a drop item and sky was farmable again. I think feedback should be listened to by SE especially over something as simple as this, they have tended to vastly overestimate people's patience with relatively easy to fix things.

For me and many other people this IS my most sought after item in game, and it will make the game more enjoyable for me. It's basicaly the equivalent to one random day in the summer having the most amazing suit of armor that has angel wings and the most awesome sword you have ever seen and it comes with it's own 3 new classes that only people that randomly signed on that day can ever have. That is how important it can be, would implementing the prior be a great decision? Prob not.
