Chocobos, airships, and the main city

I wholly agree, in fact I was just about post a thread along these lines. I'm glad this issue as been forefront in others minds. Every time I see a ask the devs or letter from the producer, I look for this issue specially. It may seem odd, but I actually am really okay with most of the game mechaincs as they are, but the thing I want the most is chocobos, that you can ride. Wanted it in the beta, want it now! XD

I am in agreement with everyone who wants chocobos. I mean they are one of the main staples of the entire final fantasy universe. Not having chocobos in final fantasy is like having a pizza with no cheese. It just doesnt happen. I think the idea of customizing your chocobo is awesome but heres another idea. Have them be battle mounts! How awesome would it be if you could battle monsters while riding your chocobo. Your chocobo could also act as a type of pet similar to Beastmasters jug pets in XI. I know this reply is getting long but its just a great concept that square enix should implement. Please bring in the chocobos square enix!!

I totally am for the idea of a chocobo breeding class. They can breed chocobos and sell them for gil similar to how a horse farmer makes a living in the real world. Take note of that square enix, chocobo breeder would be a very popular class idea.

Imo all three are really needed in game, with Chocobo's being the most urgent.

Whatever they do with chocobo's, being a chocobo knight class, a chocobo breeder class or a chocobo sheperd class, please make it fun and rewarding. (Chocobo armor sounds really nice!) Being able to breed a chocobo that is green or blue is nice, but please tie something more to it than just the sake of having one. Anima is so restricted atm that a lot of ppl are running low on it. Quests need so much travel that anima alone is not enough.

Airships: if possible please add two (functional) types of airships: Public (like the boat trips are) and private.
Imagine a LS having there own airship, and being able to go somewhere together on that, having a stall in the airship for chocobo's, etc. That is the final fantasy feeling.
Like mentioned before, different styles, shapes and sizes of airships would enrich the experience.

Main city: Nothing to say really, atm it looks like it'll be Ishgard. Give it to us.
There should be a system to interconnect wards from the 3 starter cities so that ppl can stay in the city they prefer, now ppl have to go to Uld'ah just to get something from the wards.

To be honest, I was surprised and shocked that Chocobos and airships were not in game at release. It made me feel sad about FFXIV.
The airship docks are in. The NPC's are there. YOU CAN SEE THE DAMN AIRSHIP FLYING IN THE AIR ALL THE TIME. ><
Also, no Ishgard? I understand that it's hard to populate all the cities now, with Uldah being the center of the game. However, we need our "Jeuno". Sadly I feel none of these will make it to game until the first xpack. Which will coincide with the ps3 release. Pity.

Well hopefully this is one of those things they look at like they said. This is a huge thing for FF, and the huge majority wants them. Ishgaard would be sweet also, but I think that will be saved until the first "big" expansion.

Just wondering...could we get a Chocobo Hot and cold type game. Like mayb have it as a side job or something where you can level up your chocobo?

They need to get them in the game ASAP, do it Yoshi-P.

Chocobo's and airships would help with traveling and the overall feel of the game so much. You can't have a Final Fantasy without chocobos. It's been 6 months already, we want our birds!

I really hope they add more travel options, especially chocobos and airships. I also like the idea of a riding class, maybe as another disciple of the hand choice and incorporate the hot/cold game into it.

I think the addition of Chocobos alone would change this game completely :D

I for one never had the chance to breed chocobos in FFXI. I would LOVE to see that in XIV. Ishgard would be very lovely to finally see and airships too like everyone wants.

Maybe introduce personal housing in Ishgard too? Just a thought :)

I believe that Square-Enix should...

- Add Chocobos and a Chocobo licence at, say, rank... 25? I think that should do well enough.
- Increase the cost of teleporting (or just decrease the anima regeneration rate) since we will have chocobos.
- Add Ishgard. Oh, how I would love this. I think Ishgard is the giant piece of the jigsaw of this game that has not yet been added yet a surprisingly low number of people are calling for it.

Hmm I don't think they should increase Anima cost since I think chocobos are a viable transporter regardless of anima especially for the players that travel to various places for leves and what not. It is quite easy to blow through all of your anima.

Chocobos would also encourage people to make parties in the more far off locations and explore a bit more.

Ishgard would be nice though lol.

One thing I don't understand is when people leave the game, yet continue to linger around on the forum pages and the websites. That is just weird to me, if you don't know what you are missing then why complain about it? ... Anyways

Linkshell-owned airships would be awesome. Chocobo carriage would be interesting, i've seen NPCs with them already, but I somehow doubt they will be implemented.

Chocobo Digging was a kind of class type in FFXI, but it was similar to Botanist in a way, so I doubt there will be a class for just chocobo riding. However, Chocobo racing would be really awesome, especially in a ballista type way (PvP racing)

We need also underground world map, submarines, canoe for crossing rivers...
You know... you had those in the older FF series.

I posted this on another post but basically I really hope Chocobo breeding is added with Chocobos at some point. But if it does get added I beg and plead that you do not make it anything like FFXI breeding was. It needs to follow more of a FF7 route, be more hands on, entertaining and rewarding. Instead of set up some gambits that tells a handler what to do with your Chocobo and you feed it and pick between a couple options and watch this boring little clip.

I want to race chocobos or ride them to build stamina or let them be a packmule and build stats and do other things hand on that makes you feel rewarded when your Chocobo comes out how you want it to.

Chocobos are apart of FF's signature and theere games would not be as unique without them.

Seriously they've got the stables everywhere... and the launchpads for airships... gimme my freakin rides already!

If I'd like to add something, You can also have the public airship service be sponsored, Imagine loaning an airship out for use by the public, think of the Gil rolling in!

That would be Awesome! I would keep playing the game through to the when the developers stop adding new content.

I remember back then in FF VII, raising chocobo to get the ultimate summon.... and in FF IX to get Zidane's ultimate weapon and optional boss... miss those days

Betting on races would be awesome, but you have to be careful and put safeguards into place to avoid problems real life spots betting has - such as race participants betting against themselves and losing on purpose.

I for one would love to have a chocobo, and carts etc but at the same time I want a moghouse or something like it. As they stated last year.

/agree with Leonesaurus completely. I was thinking the same exact thing. We need something "in-between" for getting around to different camps/cities. Of coarse it wouldn't be as fast as using the Teleport feature but it again would not use any Anima and allow that system to stay in place but also allow us to move more freely between locations.
And the addition of racing, breeding, and riding would bring in a whole new mechanic/ feature to the game.

As a side note... I really hated the Gryphons in WoW... having a mounting system that you cannot control was just annoying and I feel that is what the Teleport feature kind of resembles but is instant.... PLEASE NO CARRAIGE

That is a great way of looking at it. You've perked my attention.

Chocobos would really give a lot more of a feel to this game then playing some "oh since its free right now its okay" game. Colored chocobos, green ones that travel over hills and some mountains, blue ones that travel over lakes and ponds...

Transportation
This is an exciting topic Yoshi P.. We hear you talking about it in other interviews and we want to hear it from you directly Yoshi P.. Many of us are excited about the idea of Chocobos or Airships and we are waiting patiently for you to tell us.
Now I will discuss the three forms of transportation that has been mentioned:

- Chocobos
We are all very excited about chocobos. We hear that you are thinking about implementing them in a unique way for FFXIV. We are hoping we still get to ride them and still get to breed them. Chocobo breeding was a lot of fun and we are hoping that you do not forget the amazing detail FFXI had in their different characteristics like, color, crown feathers, tail feathers, curved talons, straight talons, beak size, head size, speed, strength, endurance.
Here are some other characteristics that would be fun to consider:

2. Skin / scale texture
3. Skin / scale color
4. Eye Color
5. Duration of ride.
6. Chocobo Digging Success
We are really hoping to see many features come into play with the chocobos. On another note, if we do get the equivalent of the mog house, can we please have a little stable inside our house so that we may view our chocobo while inside the house? - Airships
My hope is that we get to pilot them around in the sky. That everyone gets to pilot them who is in the company. That we get to have instanced Air Ship PVP battles in the sky with cannons and ship armor.

I like the chocobo breeding and having them as your own personal transport, but please could rip FFVII and have chocobo racing in the game. Give us a mini game to rob us of gil and keep us addicted. A goldsaucer with unique items you can only get through stupid amounts of play time in rigged slots. The game in my opinion is crying out for these mini games and having chocobo racing would be a shameless rip from vii, but it would be so awesome nobody would care.
