Is there a DD job that does not have some self-healing capability? I do not know much about DD jobs, but I presume the following:
BLM, BRD, MNK all have Second Wind to heal some.
And I think I saw others with Blood for Blood/LifeSurge/etc that should help heal?
You're only missing one more DD job, Dragoon, that actually has Second Wind and Life Surge to heal, and can also use Life Surge that is pretty much Aegis Boon, but eats your surge.
Hell, i've tanked Phase 1 Nael on my Dragoon, we can do it!!
(okay, it was more like he went TP-happy and annihilated the tank, hate was left with me. I started hitting ALL my survival tools and mimicing the tank's patterns, I did last to the end of that phase! That said, if that fight lasted 30 more seconds i'd most probably drop, but)
It is useful to have a WHM DD build, particularly if you're running with a very experienced party and you're not all that busy.
Also, if you want to see something epic, take 8 WHMs with good nuking gear and go do the moogle fight. It's hilarious.
