Vesper thats not always the case. Go play Aion sometime the forums mirrir the community. And I just don't wabt that happening here.
I got told to shove it or that I was a trol on Aion for looking for a guild under 10. I just wanted help with the game as I was new.

And really troll only get away with things cuz ppl let them. We should do that nor should the mods. It was more of a question anyway. If you guys don't want a bad community, then be a bit more helpful on the forums also.

This is more about helping ppl not really about the game and ppl bashing it.

Not attacking you personally , but you really need to understand ffxiv =/= ffxi.
That people who play the game know better than you, who does not play.For starters.

Like in Aion I was looking for a legion to get help with the game. I was insulted for being new. Both on the forums and in game. By the same ppl. And infact more in game.

I actaully have more then enough drama in my life w/o seeing a net bully in action. Kinda kills the mood.

And jibe I tried starting a postive communitty thread. The same thing happen. These ppl love to get a rise outa me they like stalking me and enjoy being aholes. You should see how they treated a guy who needed help. A good portion of these ppl called him stupid and laughed.

Well, there is your problem. You can point fingers at the entire community because a habdful of douche-waffles trolled you on forums and again in-game. I do admit the community in WoW was bad but that was due to the massive amounts of younger less mature players taking their role play to annoying levels, whether they RP or not.

You're bashing 2 entire games cause of a very miniscule amount of run-ins with some trolls which kinda makes you no better then those who mindlessly bash games on forums just to hear ppl rage out on them.

Oh, and I'm one of those people who tends to read the gaming forums when they're at work. And I read the Aion forums for about a year. And I'm pretty sure I remember your posts, OP (if you're the Sephiroth-whatever person who changed their name a couple dozen times and rerolled their character at least half a dozen times).

And if you are who I think you are, then you were not that innocent either. Some people *were* very helpful on those forums and tried really hard to give you advice not only on the game, but on your forum tone and conduct. Know what you did? You bashed on those people yourself and reported half of them (LOL) because you disagreed with their suggestions.

If that wasn't you on the Aion forums, well then sorry I guess. But the similarity is uncanny.

Frankly, I would put you on ignore but sometimes watching you get all vigilante-forum-police is just too delicious.

Its comments like this that make me angry , we all play the game and enjoy it in different ways.
I still log on to 14 just not all the time , i have decide to enjoy the game in my own way and hope to support it if it does go pay to play.

There is no right or wrong way to play the game.

People have a lot of frustration built up because of the disappointment XIV has been thus far and the updates are coming at a snail's speed. Seriously XI has had more dramatic and game changing updates than XIV during the past 6 months.

It would be nice to be able to talk about the game mechanics but they lack depth for that sort of conversation to happen.

Maybe a year from now the game has evolved into a more interesting form than a leve-dispenser it is now and people will be compelled to work together to play it. At least

I'm hoping they'll get it right someday.

If a game is enough to frustrate some people enough to transform them in rude and bitter hate-droolers, completely unable to let go, then I'm afraid the problem isn't in the game.
That's all there's to it.

It's much easier to evolve a game faster when you already have the basics in place since several years. Maybe you should make a comparison with the evolution of FFXI in it's first six months, instead of after eight years.

I agree, and I myself have been less than polite at times, though normally it has been to people I considered flaming or trolls themselves. However the atmosphere in game is much different than that in the forums, even though it's pretty much the same people. I guess the additional level of anonymity makes people forget that they're real people on the other end. I am sure that using a more personal medium of communication other than a forum, people would be a lot more civil and courteous, though there would still be a few bad eggs (always are). It's just the nature of forums, especially once they grow beyond a certain size, and the nature of people in general. I am sure 90% of the people who argue here with others have much less contention in their normal lives than they experience and take part in here. Ultimately it falls on each of us as individuals to keep our own impulses under control.

I think the best thing that anyone who can agree with this can do is to just ignore flaming and trolling and not respond to it, because that just perpetuates the negative atmosphere. I know I will be trying to do the same. If we do respond, we should try to be civil and try to undermine the contention, instead of contribute to it.

But yes, the forum community atmosphere is less than pleasant, while I've experienced a pretty positive atmosphere from pretty much everyone I've interacted with in game, and disagreements have been much more civil and respectful.
