Whereas somewhere like Amazon would have hundreds of times this many racks and allow a virtual server to scale up and down across them as needed. The drawback is it being slower.

I will be honest when I woke up this morning and saw this, I thought "Was there a FFXI version of Thaliak?" Just a big visual downgrade from other depictions.

Isn't Oschon half naked on his torso in the few bits he appears? Thought they just didn't want both of them with a very similar design.

It certainly hasn't stopped them making a whole bunch of similar looking female bosses that float in the air with conventionally attractive designs...

Though Oschon and Thaliak have completely different attire, weaponry and hair colour to one another.

For me my biggest issue is it really lost the ancient greece feel of the pantheon with this design. It's just so random and off. They could have kept his outfit from the card and added things to make it look watery/flowy which I think is what they were going for with the extra cloth The shirt part is the biggest offender.

Yeah, I'm rather fond of anything Greek inspired and it's something I'd like to see more of within the game itself.

They are technically censoring him as you don't get to see much of his face in the trailer. We tend to only see his back or part of his face is being blocked. This is the 1st time I've noticed he looks like most Greek depictions of Hermes. Course we only see 3 out of 4 fights so the 4th is a mystery.

This is pretty bad, I gotta say I wasn't a fan of Nophica because 1) her shoulder/neck area is weirdly unshapely and stiff 2) her face is childish 3) her curves are plastic, not natural, she could have used some chub on her arms as well. So I don't think Nophica was a great success either, in fact she was a disappointment, Nymeia is the clear winner design-wise in Euphrosyne.

Maybe Thaliak will drop his clothes during the encounter? Or maybe they wanted to dress Oschon more skimpy and thus gave Thaliak some more to put on?

So are they still in denial that Criterion Normal is Savage Difficulty, and Criterion Savage is just taking an already savage piece of content and adding even more wonderful endwalker "do it perfectly or else" design to it?

No, have you read the interviews this week? Yoshi-P knows that Criterion normal is Savage difficulty. He explicitly stated it in one of them.

At this point the game really is becoming like Paper Mario Sticker Star: it seems like a lot if not all is being made purely to spite those who came before literally this post. That game was not fun in any capacity and it looks like XIV is heading towards that as well. You can't even jump on clearly reachable objects in many parts of the game. It makes no sense other than to annoy people the devs don't like. I actually went and logged out just to see if Thaliak was the deity I chose at the start. He was, and I'm wondering if I should even continue at this point.

There's more than one statue of Thalik. The others that you can see atop of a few buildings in Labyrinthos has him in a cloak/robe with the staff that he's described as looking as. There were people in the chat shocked that he wasn't in a skirt or a robe and was as they put it a femboy. It's funny that no one is up in arms about Llymlean. She doesn't look anything like a person who's spent their life out on the open sea or as someone who can carry that fishing spear/harpoon. Where's the tall and burley or short and muscular lady that would fit in as part of the crew on a whaling ship? With salty sea windswept hair that's slightly unkempt? Skin that's been aged slightly and roughed by that same air? At least she summons two sea snakes in what looks like her ultimate attack.

Lala, Miq/Hyur, Elezen/Viera, Roe, Hroth, Au Ra

At least females have the Au Ra female to bridge the gap a bit. With men, we get little boy blue or never leaves the gym + taller than Goliath as our two options. I was kinda hoping the Viera boys would be like the Au Ra females to stand in the gap between Lala and Miq, but no such luck, instead we get Miq boys with bunny ears who relaxed the angry hands.

I remember in WoW people complaining the Blood Elf males were too effeminate, then I saw them and was like "Guys, they're more buff than most of the playerbase, what are you talking about?"

Both genders have unrealistic standards these days, not just [st]men[/st] women. And while that's great for the people who want power fantasies, it sucks for people that want to have an avatar more reflecting their irl selves. I've just come to terms with the fact I have to choose dwarf or giant, and being irl short, I go with the former.

Which Mount do you think will be a mogstation mount? pampa feels to dull for mogstation, so it will probably be the motorcycle or the fairy. UFO will obviously be Hildibrandt.

On that, agreed. Always found that really odd, they're already buff compared to the usual wiry elf (partly what I like about them) and no doubt the vast majority of an MMO's playerbase. You'd need to be in good shape to get and maintain a build like that. I preferred their V shaped build compared to some of the overly blocky options in the game and the reworked models removed most of the weird animation issues I had with them.

I'm whelmed. It's not the devs aren't doing anything, I just don't think this patch does anything special. Content here will be irrelevant in a week or two. We have a long road to 7.0 and I have a sneaking suspicion DawnTrail msq is going to be a snoozefest of ARR proportions. If you're not enjoying Zero just you wait..

It definitely is a case where they should have explained Criterion was Savage level and not a step up from Variant when they introduced it. The general feeling because that wasn't explained was that this might be the mid-core content that was being asked for. I think they need to dial Criterion back so it can function as a stepping stone.

They're probably doing that because they've dropped a lot of hints that it's Deryk. Not that he couldn't change his face to come along with us, but I'd do the same if I knew there was fan speculation about that going around.

Toward the Thaliak commentary, I actually think he looks hella sexy in that. But I tend to like Thavnair clothing. I do like that he has a hint of that in the skirt and the pants. Almost like even though they worship the Magus Sisters, he's looking at groups like the mad scientist alchemists and going "Those are my people".

Well, two things. Ryne and Gaia aren't exactly considered teens in Japan, and I remind you, they were designed by Japanese artists taking their own customs into consideration. Then again, I see lots of hypocrisy about that because people are quick to get thirsty over Alisaie but somehow Ryne and Gaia are out of bounds.

Second, there are shirtless dudes in the game. I still find it very stupid that this boss NEEDS to have his protective armor shirt or whatever while Nophica has half her boobs out, but it's not like there's not male fanservice in the game.

Saving this post for when barney the 180th Dino is explaining to us dry political drama that was supposed to be a beast tribe quest storyline but was expanded to fit a whole expansion.
