I like him because he's charismatic and boisterous. I like him because his psychology is so alien and incomprehensible to those around him, but still follows a perfectly sound logic. I like him because he doesn't, and I mean REALLY doesn't give a singular fuck. Would I like him as a person? Absolutely not, he's an absolutely horrible individual who brings almost nothing but misery and death to those around him. Do I like him as a character? Yes, absolutely. There's something almost primeval in how he acts. He doesn't think like a person, he's like a force of nature, single-minded and unstoppable. But he's also just plain fun. I also think he fits pretty well into the story and its themes, serving as a foil to a lot of other characters through his careless, cheerful nihilism. In a world where everyone is trying to claim their destiny, restore old glories, destroy the universe out of misguided ideology, or preserve the future of those who live now, he's just out to have fun at any cost, with not a thought spared for the consequences or what comes after.
He's definitely a love-him-or-hate-him kind of character though, and I can kinda see why some people don't like him.

Blood Knight archetype that is rarely seen. He is also one of the two people that see you as you are(adventurer) and not just a tool. And as of now both people that saw you as a adventurer are both dead. Haurchefant and Zenos(?).
Zenos is a character still shrouded in mystery on how he got to where he was(implied lab experiment/Ancient ancestry/Mastery of Resonance) and since his inception is a foil to the player character in that the Player starts from nothing and has to earn everything. Meanwhile Zenos was given everything and gets to earn nothing.
It's like being gifted the Infinity +1 Sword at the beginning of a game and literally nothing you achieve will be better then that sword instead of starting with a wooden sword and earning the Infinity +1 Sword by journey's end.
If we are the Guts in the game then Zenos is the Nosferatu Zodd.
Ironically WoL and Zenos are very similar in one looking for the next adventure and the other looking for the next fight.

i like zenos because unlike some of the other antagonists they do not come spouting off some high lofty ideas or tragic backstories and isn't particularly 'deep'. what you see is what you get with him and it's refreshing when he just wants to fight, and even receives a bit of development that has him change a bit at the very end. ilberd was fueled for his desire to liberate ala mhigo by any means necessary. thordan wanted to become god-king and unite the world under ishgard. nidhogg was raging mad about the betrayal that led to his sister being murdered and his eyes being stolen away. elidibus, lahabrea, and emet wanted to save their dead friends and bring their old world back. fandaniel was influenced by xande and wanted to destroy the world and himself. meteion wanted to drive everyone to despair since to her the joys in life did not outweigh the struggles of living.
zenos just wanted a good fight
