Most of the stuff you list, people have completed years ago when it was current content.

I wish i had only just started playing the game in the last two expansions, there would be a whole heap of content that is fresh and new that i could throw myself into. Unfortunately that is not the case for people that have played for 9 years.

Someone doesn't seem to remember me saying 6.2 was a pretty decent patch, even when a lot of the people I get lumped in with didn't like it so much. If you want to argue I'm more critical than positive, sure. But you can't say I'm NEVER positive.

Its the same argument they all use.

They fail to realize that XIV actually existed before the great WoW exodus took place, and many players completed the average day to day content grinds years ago.

The ones that have been here for years and still say there is a ton of content, literally don't do half the content anyway, most of them have never touched a single raid, normal or savage, or taken part in trials outside of the MSQ.

I don't think the "but you didn't do everything!" is the win that you think it is. The reality is you DIDN'T do everything. So stop arguing there is a lack of content. There mathematically, empirically, is not a lack of content.

And? That is literally an issue in itself. The only content they've produced this expansion is dead on arrival with poor rewards. Of course people don't want to do it, and when we're then told to go chase after meaningless achievements or sightseeing logs that's how you know you're dealing with someone who isn't willing to wake up and see the situation for what it is.

I've been here since day 1 of ARR, and we've never had it as bad as we do now. Especially now that they can't use covid as an excuse.

Never take people seriously who spend most of their time emoting in a room glitched into outer space that this game has plenty of content :)

Dude half of EW content you can complete within a couple months if you're dedicated. Making you do Orthos four times for a mount isn't really stellar content that lasts lol

I've been here for 8 years and have done savage raiding among other things. Still have plenty to do.

It's interesting that some years ago there was a trend about complaining how linear ffxiv is and how it lacks sandbox elements. The way I see it, players nowadays need a tour guide and a tactical torch to point them towards something they haven't done, or else they have no idea such content even exists. That's why bozja was somewhat popular. Go here, grind this rank thing, fight this, get this achievement, farm this drop, challenge yourself with this duel. All contained in one place like a theme park.

8 years "plenty to do"? What are you doing, achievement grinding lmao? Getting those 500k points in the Diadem for the mount? That sure is content that the majority of people want to do, that's why the majority of people just do it for fun, right? That's a lot of click on mount --> macro to nearest node --> repeat sort of content that people are looking for!

No, you're dealing with people who clearly play the game in a different way from you, and are also clearly goal-driven people, that's just all there is to it. There are plenty of people that play with completionism mindsets, be it mounts, minions, achievements, or gear in mind, and clearly, they get a much longer sense of fulfillment out of the game - Something that you apparently seem incapable of understanding and coming to terms with.

People are mostly just expressing it in the sense of "Have you tried working towards this, or seeing the game in this way" - Rather than a 'You have to go do xyz"

Very true. “Fun” is overrated these days. What we need is a GOAL, right? Run 10,000 ARR dungeons for this particular trinket. Run 20,000 solo instances as WAR for an ugly mount that you’ll never use. Now that’s what I call content!

There’s a reason why FFXIV is the fourth most-played MMO right now despite being a clone and spiritual successor to two out of the other three. But FFXIV players are so above the concept of “fun”, right? Just give players an obscure cheevo from 2015, slap some numbers on that bad boy and they're all happy, right?

I don't know but if people are willing to eat up that farming an umpteenth number of FATEs either for past relics or for Eureka-esque relics as 'content' and fun, then yes the exact same can be applied to achievements provided they offer a reward that the person deems worth working toward.

Hurray, got a relic just in time for 7.0 before it gets routinely plunged into irrelevancy by Level 95 to most likely never be used again.
