If you thought that was hot...this guy blows me right out of the water in terms of hotness.

I keep it for funny stuff, hunts, people asking help for clearing content or pf messages. Also having to disable one feature just to get rid of spammers with their venues is one way of letting people do whatever they want and limit the players who actually play the game for its content outside of the RP/ERP communities
I recommend blacklisting the venue ad spammers. There always appears new ones, but it reuces the noise a little at least.
But then that is impacting the people who play the game for the RP/ERP content, right?
You want to remove one method of shouting so that the parts of the game that you want to see are more obvious to you.
But, then doesn't that mean that the people who want to see the nightclub shouts, etc. end up suffering?
And don't say "well, they can go to PF". Well, couldn't your group go to PF too?
You are singling one group out, just because you don't like what they do.
I don't see hunt messages filling the entire chat window and there isn't a constant flow of them from multiple people: it's one occasional short line with coordinates and you rarely see them in cities. Same thing with people needing help like "where do I find xyz?". The venue advertisements have become absurdly long, extending sometimes over 2-4 messages because they reached the character limit. It's pretty rude and it has become a nuisance since Data Centre travel has become a thing.
Also concerning hunts: there are max 2 A bosses per area every 4-6 hours and S ranks can be respawned every 3-5 days only. Everyone goes for the same targets. It results in a very limited amount of shouts.
I'm sure the ERPers and RPers will be fine. It's not like anyone who does legit RP really uses PF anymore to find it considering its nothing but nightclub spam and ERP is extremely accessible through Discord and other places because of how people can trap and report you in game now. Don't worry too much about them.
its pretty simple, i never frequent these gil sinks and just "ignore" the spruker on my server. no more ads
Blocking only gets you so far when you have limited spaces to use and nightclubs can have multiple people running shouts and putting up advertisements. If you realistically tried to do that on NA, you'd run out of space within a week with how many pages of ads and new venues we get a day.
Great community!!! so much better than the WoW Forums!!...... lmfao
I guess it depends on your server because i have seen people shout out but would be far from "flooding" chat. If you see it flooding your chat report it. If SE sees it as they are breaking rules then they will deal with it but honestly rp'ing is just like any other part of the game so yeah they have just as much right to use the same tools as anyone else as long as the are posting in the right spots just like someone selling a piece of equipment or looking for a group for fates or a duty. Honestly i am still amazed to see how much effort some of these people put into their little corner of the community. I dont really rp but i cant help but drop into these places every now and again just to show a bit of appreciation for it so if it werent for the game coms or party finder i would never know about them.
what if I dont want to see "funny" stuff, because I find most of /yell humors annoying nicely put.
What if I use hunt discords for hunts and dont want to have it spammed in game when im not interested in doing them?
what if I dont want to see people asking for help?
and especially PF messages.
why should all those be there when clubs arent?
you like "x", others like "y", either x and y can exist together or none should.
I could see an advertising tab on the PF and maybe a vendor chat channel that SE could implement.
But I'm really not sure what else people expect them to do. There are already rules about spamming or inappropriate content.
I've seen a lot of these complaints over 8 years of playing about one thing or another in shout chat. So this isn't something that just came about with venues. There are all kinds of things in shout chat. If someone is incredibly bothered by it, then blacklist if you need to. And maybe even try to get together with your server community to work out some general guidelines. But I think the things SE could do in this situation are limited without measures that would affect innocent chat or would be invasive. So this is probably something we as a community need to address, minus the couple of things I mentioned that SE might implement to help.
How are "clubs" dragged from real life? If your talking just the concept then hate to be the one to say it but so to then do hunts. People hunt in the real world. Simply put square put all the housing decor and such in game for the purpose of role playing so its about as much as part of the game as hunts. Just sayin
If you want a list of weird films...I got a list for you.
Dead Ball
This is the first two minutes: A kid is playing catch with his grandfather. The grandfather tells the kid to throw a real heater. The kid is like "aight" and then slowly lifts one leg till it is straight into the air, blasts off like a literal rocket into space, and then throws the ball back to his grandfather which explodes his face.
Thankskilling
A turkey kills really dumb kids. Enough said about this one.
Slashers
Contestants willingly join a game show where they have to survive for the length of the runtime of the show while 3 killers roam the area to murder then. The show gets so popular they run a test episode for an all American cast to see if they can branch into other countries.
During COVID, because people weren't able to go out and socialize as they normally would have, they started congregating in night club/dance club venues. Before this there was a greater relative variety of venues that were primarily used by RPers. Ever since COVID, and possibly Preach's hours' long stream of a big club event, they now tend to be the dominant form of venue the general populace visit. Because the bigger ones also tend to hire real DJs over Twitch or other platforms, there's generally strong motivation to get a large audience, hence the ad spamming.
Going to dig this up a bit but... This also applies to FC advertisements.
People get so upset when I say this but please, restrain yourselves. One advertisement per 5 minutes. I vented about seeing not two, not three but four back to back shout advertisements(admittedly by different people) for the same FC. I was promptly given the "oh you're so negative and mean" slap on the wrist and it just bothers me.
Why is it so hard for you all to accept some semblance of modesty? No one's asking you to stop advertising altogether. This applies to anyone advertising anything in the shout chat. Just limit yourselves a tiny, tiny bit. I go to RP venues, I sometimes check out the events hosted in shout chats(hunt trains are sometimes announced there), and I sometimes even check out the discords of different FCs if they're provided. I enjoy them, but I don't enjoy seeing the same one spammed in my face.
Why someone would book real DJs for a club in 14 is beyond me, coming from someone who used to throw raves and book DJs from across the world. I really don't understand what they stand to gain unless they're charging actual cash for those specific events because booking an actual famous DJ is not cheap. I know other games do have real musicians and groups come to perform there but theyre charging CASH to see it.
I mean, fair enough if someone has deep pockets and doesn't care about blowing hundreds to thousands on someone but...is gil really worth that? Or are venues now expecting people to shell out money to afk?
personally, i don’t mind venues being advertised in shout (though i wish they kept it to one message and not in parts) as long as it isn’t spammed. what annoys me is when they literally flood PF. one per venue is enough. why does one venue need 4+ ads? honestly, the more ads it has makes it seem more desperate to the point i wouldn’t ever go lol.
I don't understand it either, but I do know none of the places I've visited have charged anything to get in. Just because someone's an actual DJ doing actual music (not just a playlist superhero) doesn't mean they're good enough to charge tons of money. I wouldn't pay actual money or even Gil to get into an event with one of these people. After the first couple I've stopped going to their streams and just put on my own play list. My guess is they're small-time DJs looking for exposure or are hobbyists in it for the money they get from Twitch.
Some are pretty long too. Entire paragraphs long. Which easily clutters the chat window :x
And I get that they have to be appealing... But often people just find them cringeworthy, and at worst an outright nuisance. Especially the ones that follow you into the next area xD
"Oh huge ad. Yikes. Gonna move into the Steps of Thal for my quest... aaaaand the guy's here too, perfect."
Well any of the foreign Superhero movies are going to be great. I'm sure most have seen the dance number that Indian Superman/Spiderwoman did. Also anything from Bollywood is pretty much gold.
Another movie to check out is DeCAMPatated. Think Friday the 13th meets Looney Toons.
I never understood what these venues are so hyped about. If you want to listen to a DJ play music go to a real night club
