The stock trends I gave you. And being bankrupt doesn't mean there leaving the industry they will still be around.

So how long until they declare bankruptcy then? I need to prepare myself.
idk it all depends on if the wiiU takes off or not, why do u have stock in it or something?
I could comment but im tired of doing some research for ppl asking me to do it, and than no one even looking at it, if u really wanna know than do it yourself I already gave you some reputable references and there stocking trend to what they have done, its very easy to do the research yourself if you believe me awesome if you dont thats cool to, but stop asking me for proof and than I give it to you and you dont even bother to look at it.
Couldn't agree with you more.
This thread seriously puts the ass in asinine. As Sigmund Freud once said "the mind knows nothing of neurons." Who cares how many polygons the game is(or isn't) pushing? The important thing is that the thing looks great with what it does, and to the best of my knowledge I haven't seen a single game in the MMO space and have seen few games in many spaces period that look this good.
Then someone actually posted that Ninitendo is in bad shape because of the Wii and 3DS? The same Nintendo that has already sold 95 million Wii consoles over a 6-year span and over 17 million 3DS handhelds in a little over a year(where the majority of those sales were in the last 6 months or so)?
This thread is one ring short of a 3-ring circus.
Responding to OP:
I also see no problem with the screenshots. They all look gorgeous...
Is it just me, or do I see a bit of influence from FFXIII in the new UI? I think it looks very "clean" and well thought-out. The current one lags on my system very badly, hopefully the lag will go away with the 2.0 update =)
After 10 years of playing XI, I am blown away by the look of this game as it is even on very low settings.
Don't you know? All they want to hear is how everyone and their mom love Yoshi-P!!
Serioulsy, you need to be blind to not see how some aspects of the new graphics took a downgrade. The images in general look good, and show off a more interesting world compared to what we have now - that doesn't hide the fact that there are some things (like foliage, and textures) that look worse than right now.
For those saying that graphics don't matter, well sorry - they do. They're part of the game, and we all know nobody would be playing XIV if it had the graphical quality of Runescape, don't kid yourself.
EA has had a rough year with stock also

And I don't see them going off the radar anytime soon.
Hell im just glad they are optimizing it for lower end pc's as well which means my computer will run it a little faster.
And you will, regardless of what those specs are. It isn't Square-Enix's job to make sure that every single transistor is working double time. It's their job to make an interesting world that we want to explore. Visually appealing = top-end graphics. It's your own problem that you bought all that hardware in the first place.
Lets put it this way.. if you bought a top end Computer.. then even if you were to quit FFXIV, you still have this Fabulous Computer at your Disposal. So I really don't see the QQ some people have over building a computer :P.
Building a comp is fun, and its nice to have something powerful that can run anything smoothly.
Expecting any and all games that come out to make full use of that system is a huge mistake. Just because i've put good money into my comp is no reason for me to expect Crysis out of every game out there. And just because i'm in the top percent of madly powerful computer users is not reason to expect them to tailor anything towards me.
Its an MMO, Scaleability is important. How many people skipped on FF14 the first time BECAUSE of the high requirements.
You need to deliver as much quality as you can, certainly. But Time, cost, feasability etc all factor in too.
Everyone likes pretty pictures. But the relentless hunt for more polys is only gonna get you so far. Penny arcade has a video series called Extra Credits. Everyone should do themselves a favor and watch all of them, but especially the Graphics-Aesthetics episode. (someone posted it in a similar thread)
Some times you have to give a little to get a little. Your not gonna get 100+ people on screen if only a handful of people can run the game. And few companies (especially one in the position SE is in) are going to spend even more time for the smaller percentage of players when they have a deadline. Maybe we'll see HD, super high res at a later date. But if your looking at things they can put off till another time, thats one of them. And despite my heavy duty rig and enjoyment of a high number of polys, if i was in their position i'd do the same.
If you want a lively game, full of players that help finance a long and healthy life for this game, you might have to give up a few polys here and there. Enjoy the Aesthetics and try not to worry so much about your FPS and poly count.
Whatever makes a game for one person is their choice. A blend of everything is good but for me there are some requirements in a game that I will not do without and some I will sacrifice. I'm a graphics freak and I will refuse to play a game over bad graphics because it makes the game for me the most in the way of immersion since I'm a visual person. Still, I understand how others like gameplay more than graphics and can tolerate less of the graphical quality as long as there is good gameplay.
I think it is in any business model's best interest to accommodate as much of a variety as they can and not just have one or the other. Bravo to SE for listening to their customer's feedback.
But I mean, is it really too much to ask to have high res textures back?
I mean, seriously. You guys are kinda being crazy.
The last MMO that was considered a graphic powerhouse was Age of Conan, turned out that was all they had past level 20. The game was DOA and the only reason its still around is because it went F2P, even now only a handful play it. I'd rather not FFXIV suffer the same fate. While you may put visuals on a pedestal you are a minority. Every MMO that has failed in the last few years has been because their gameplay does not keep subscribers, SWTOR is hurting because they have no endgame content. Aion touted its Unreal Engine 3, its F2P. Rift had a shiny engine, they were doing server merges only months after release. Whether you like it or not the truth is that most people could care less about graphics if the game isn't even fun to play.
Ironically 10 million people still play WoW which uses an almost decade-old engine, must be the amazing graphics. People still pay a subscription for EQ and Ultima Online, certainly not for the cutting-edge visuals. According to some people's logic that graphics make the game, if FFXIV's current engine is so impressive, why did this happen;
http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/fi...asy-xiv-online
Why was FFXIV one of the most critically-panned MMOs ever, why was it bombed by users on metacritic? It certainly wasn't because of its graphics.
A few quotes:
"Fantastic graphics, but it seems this is all they spent time on during creation of this game."
"Yes, graphics are nice, but the UI is just horrid. Everything feels clunky and slow. Developers certainly didn't have user-friendliness in mind when they planned FFXIV."
"The fanboys are saying that the graphics are cutting edge, and the game is challenging, that it doesn't hold your hand. Aion's graphics are superior, and the game is impossible and it won't hold anyone's interest . . . for long."
"Horribly designed, sluggish, with nothing to keep you involved or enmeshed in the game's pretty graphics."
"poor UI, poor gameplay, pretty graphic. To be honest, I have to admit I am not a fan of FF14. "
"It's as if this game wasn't even made by SE. Only good thing about the game are graphics."
"The one thing that is great is Graphics but that doesnt make a good game."
"The Graphics are quite spectacular compared to the 6 year old WoW but that was about it. "
"Pretty graphics do not a solid game make. 0/10 for SE."
I can keep copy/pasting but that is a hand full of over a hundred reviews just from metacritic. I'm pretty confident they know where they messed up on 1.0 and don't plan on repeating the same mistakes.
They've already stated that it will look better(15%) than those screenshots, assuming they're high/max for the current V2.0 engine. I don't see any reason to believe they're planning for the end product to be that noticeable of a downgrade from V1.0.
That said it's still one of the best looking MMO's I've seen. And I love the look of the new UI & character creation screen. The way it's presented just makes me want to log on & play.
I don't think the graphics in XIV were ever a problem.
Everyone just wanted better visual design.
Honestly I think it's way too early to tell either way based on these few shots of trees and deserts.
Personally I hope they're sitting on that FF imagination material that SE is so good at and these are just the bland places to root them into reality.
This might be off topic but the artist in me waits for the videos rather than these screens to see if there's anything interesting in the new areas. These screens have expertly crafted compositions especially the one in the OP and as such they give a highly edited view of what's going on.
(spear and shadows leading diagonals into the pic. everything important is placed on golden divisions and there's even a line of sight spiral leading into the background) This is without a doubt a beautiful image but as an environment design we really can't judge a few trees either way at this moment I think.
The concept art in the roadmap shows a lot of promise I think that's what we can all agree on. Now let's just wait until we see some of those designs with these graphics.
if you guys havent looked at pics its the PS3 ver. of the game
The graphics are downgraded! hehe, even so I think they did a beautiful job in keeping it amazing. If you look at the texture of some of the fabric/metals they look more watercolorish. I don't care if they did downgrade I think i prefer the painted look.
The new engine looks great, especially considering the new engine is supposed to run on current gen (7 year old tech) consoles. I just hope they keep the current texture quality for PC for 2.0; this game has really fantastic texture work and it would be a shame for it to die.
The best part about hitting your head with a hammer is it feels good when you stop:
Long story short, people complain as a form of masochism, when they finally realize the graphics are better than they thought they will be delighted until they find something new to complain about. It's a vicious cycle...
A quick view of one's post history can reveal that they do this sort of thing all the time to get a rise out of people, or that they are chronic complainers. Like I said before, I swear some people just pay for the game to hang out on the forums all day stirring up discord.
IDK what people are talking about the graphics look better to me... they have a more realistic look and there's way more foliage and trees/cactus etc. Haters gonna H8 i guess.
hmm would explain the wireless icon but meh we thought it was PS3 but anyways the graphics in 2.0 will depend on you PC so sick PC set up bestest graphics lol
Everything I've read states the graphics will be the same / better.
However the required / recommended specs will be downgraded. (due to the better engine)
Basically you'll be able to run the game faster and smoother with higher settings using the same pc you have now.
At present I run everything at Max with AO, (except for shadow detail, and texture filtering both on high not highest.) my frame rate in busy areas drops to like 40. with the new engine i could probably put those 2 highs to highest and get a higher framerate aswell.
or so i understand it
The graphics really don't need to be improved any further they look good, great even. With a DX11 version coming sometime after 2.0 we may get slightly better textures who knows.
