Ah yes, my assumed nationality changes how the English language works. I apologize Divinemights.

Let's be honest, if you let your child play a MMORPG without supervision, you already gave up on them.
No MMORPG until at the very least 16. Have some common sense parents.
Honestly, social media in general should be restricted to minors. Going beyond sexual predators there are just too many malicious actors with too much to gain from kids who don't know how to protect their data--or that they have data worth protecting in the first place.
But that's a rant about how schools and parents should teach online safety as well.
ERP is gross but more than that, just incredibly cringey, which is it's main offense IMO. I don't think it can or even really should be banned though, as long as the people doing it are doing it in private and are both legal adults. However, I do wish the game would stop allowing people to advertise their 18+ nightclubs in game chat. I hate teleporting into limsa or gridania and some jackass from another server is advertising some ERP nightclub, really obnoxious behavior. You aren't going to get anywhere saying this stuff to ff14 players though man, this is one of the most degenerate fandoms for a game out there, and most people completely lack self awareness and aren't capable of engaging with anything critical of their behavior, so you shouldn't even really bother.
Yeah I know, it falls on deaf ears. I don’t know why the player base is like this, or what about this game specifically attracts those individuals. I’m just hoping one day, square makes it easier to report behavior like this so that we can start cleaning it up.
Today? Today I'm gonna learn me a knowledge. I'm having a Reading Rainbow moment and it's all thanks to you.
This has been a thing in virtually every popular MMO though. FFXIV is absolutely nothing new, it's just the one in the spotlight right now. Even Balmung's / Mateus' Quicksand Inn is just diet-Goldshire. Or you have Pocket D from City of Heroes, (make sure you disinfect the stool before you sit on it.)
I give lesser as the dirt under my Shoes, on the things others do, solong they don't do it in full Towns, like Limsa, Uldah and so on.
Do whatever you want in your FC House, House, Apartments, or every other Spot in the World.
It disturbs my Game when I see female Chars running around with a Baseball Cap, B2 Leggins + Shoes and a Bikini. But okay your Game, your Char, your Style.
BUT don't be such a rude ignorant Player who moans and giggles 10000x in Limsa, who makes emotes and pretends to do some sexual praktices with someone else middle in Limsa or Uldah. That is disgusting.
We need really a Report Button for Players like that.
Purge Pokemon-Trainers from this game!
i just perfected my erp rotation thou D:
Is ERP being done in public to such an extent that it warrants making a thread? Like honestly, I've seen enough cringe in my lifetime to be completely desensitized to some anime looking characters spam emotes at each other in suggestive ways while saying lines that would be corny by even amateur grand acting. It's harmless
as long as two or more people have a method of communicating in private then there will always be ERP since any attempts to automate any sort of filter will only end with people making up new words to evade it.
nothing can be done.
But how am I gonna have my cafe be a eating roleplay place once it's done being made...? :(
Let the people do their thing. Who are you to judge, just because they don't play the way you want?
It's the catgirls (although generally these people tend to play au-ra from what I've seen...) and the general anime-adjacent aesthetic. We get the worst of the anime crowd, the MMO crowd, AND the general casual gamer crowd. It's like you're mixing a big soup of sexual repression and low social skills with a lot of self righteousness thrown in. It's why I love the community (because it is, undeniably, really fucking funny) but also why it's insufferable
Depends on what spec im in
US federal law only covers specific situations such as use of the United States Postal Service or interstate communication to persuade or entice a minor (under 18 individual) to be involved in a criminal sexual act, transporting a minor across state or international lines with the intent of engaging in criminal sexual acts in which a person can be charged, traveling in interstate or foreign commerce to engage in "illicit sexual conduct" with a minor (i.e. sex tourism) and pornography. Age of consent is otherwise handled at the state level wherein 31 states are at 16 years, 6 are at 17, and 13 are at 18 with a number of those states also having specific nuances rather than a specific blanket number.
Similarly, Japan's age of consent is only 13 on a "national" level via the Japanese Penal Code of 1907, in which it is effectively established as the minimum age of consent that any of prefectures and municipalities can go by. Simply going off of this however, ignores the Child Welfare Act of 1947, wherein a child is defined as any individual under the age of 18 and which further forbids acts of harlotry, fornication and other such obscenities with said individuals. Even further, there are local municipal and prefecture laws wherein the age of consent is generally bumped up to a range of 16-18, sometimes with caveats such as parental consent.
I wouldn't be so sure.
The actual ESRB rating card displayed when the North American version of the game is starting up says it all: Language. Mild Blood. Sexual Themes. Use of Alcohol. Violence.

Says the guy with 69 in his name, lmao.
been around as long as the internet, no real world application found for random idiots causing a panic, some people enjoy writing intimate scenes and it's not really any more cringy than any other roleplayer playing make believe in fantasy land, or raiders caring about a number no one else does etc, etc...
p easy to avoid it if you don't enjoy it, etc, etc... mind your own business, grow up, so on.

Oh I agree what happens in private between 2 consenting adults is their business, not mine or anyone else's. Why I said earlier this wouldn't be a problem if everyone kept it private.
The question is: when it's an online environment, just how certain can one adult be that the other person is also an adult?
If the other person is a minor and the interaction gets reported, it could be difficult to convince law enforcement (and a jury if things go that far) that you were 100% unaware that they were a minor.
Is it worth the risk in a place where part of the TOS states that by accepting you acknowledged that other players may be as young as 13 years of age and you agree to act accordingly when there are other places on the internet designed for "mature adult interaction" that usually have some sort of system in place intended to filter out underage users?
(note that when I say "you" I'm not referring to you, Bukachu, specifically, or trying to imply you're doing anything wrong. It's for anyone reading to consider the questions)
