WHM LB still charges too fast.

Not a fever dream, it is that big. Covering more than half of a corridor (width) is definitely not small. The real hitbox is bigger than the actual laser.

The problem is server latency can cause it to move or miss some targets. The telltale sign that you are going to hit or be hit is being unable to move. If you or they can still move, that is a miss. Its the usual 'snap' we are used to in PVE.

If they decided to nerf its effects or significantly increase the charge time, turning it into a selectable AoE too would be a kinda decent idea?. I think that would makes it more interactive, and more fun to play.

Yes its not a fever dream, means you usually use it on the best target.

Stand a bit to the side and the area of effect goes all insane lmao.

I still think its fine in itself, but might just be me because i never stand in the middle of hallways...
It IS very reliant on your positioning and enemy positioning at least, you can very much counterplay it and save your team if you're close and to the side!


At least it has counterplay because whm has to target something.

Unreliable in corridors, but one of the ways to counter it in an open area indeed.
Then there is the problem of who is being targeted, thats the hard part.

You can definitely cheese whms lb if they panic and targeting in pvp continues to be garbage...

I find Macrocosmos to be very helpful when the AST anticipated some kind of group dmg, kinda like Earth's Riddle. Not stronger than WHM LB but has different use I would say.
Still, it is better balanced than WHM LB simply because AST has to position themselves closer to the frontline for both effects and it does only 2 things, burst and conditional healing.

RDM can basically use a WHM LB every 20s :p But not grouping up too much helps so much against a WHM and AST is way more common in my matches at the moment

It's... really extremely janky sometimes how it shows.
Good usage gets very much rewarded. But you can definitely guide whm lbs to be less dangerous if you spread a little or are close to walls.

I'm gonna say it. The game has to show lenght and how WIDE lbs are. Dragoon literally shows nothing (might be 10 yards actually because sages is 5 and drg is double that size) and that's really stupid.
It is REALLY hard to tell. I still say 5, but sages is 5 and can cover the whole crystal.
But whm doesn't if you don't all stand in the middle, maybe that's why i think it doesn't?
Just going to the left/right a little makes you not get hit after all.

This is why information (and visual clarity in colors) is every important, yet it's missing

A lot of that probably has to do with janky server tik rates. But ya XIV's hitboxes have always been weird.

They always have been but aside from it not 100% shown where it is sometimes, it still hits you in a line.

I have only taken pics from when they where there BEFORE the whm hit the lb.

And the second one is really just me leading the lb to the side, which is super effective.
Aiming is jank, if you panic and use lb on somebody, then it happens to just go against a wall sometimes.

There IS a nice trick to it too! If you are a melee or anything that is punching the whm, do it from really close. Fear not, a whm literally cant do much to you alone so be mean to them, run around them.
Of course, it will not work against every whm but consider that targeting in pvp is literal garbage, if you run all around them and they have you targeted and then lb, they might shoot it in a completely different direction.

Happened to me when i played whm.
Happened to a LOT of enemy whms.

Targeting is against everybody in pvp (always have been and i hate it so much, targeting things that are way out of my range before anything thats punching me).

Do not stack in the middle, go to sides (of the crystal too)
Be close to the whm.
The more you are prepared to lead the lb to weird directions to mitigate the range, the worse it becomes.

Targeting in FL obeys the normal rules. It's why the recommendation has always been to use cone tab targeting, target closest, and flick your camera at the floor to reduce how many possible targets are on screen at once. Hell, I do that in dungeons to make it easier to target a specific mob.

Targeting in CC ignores all the rules and targets whatever it fucking feels like. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Even just tabbing down the enemy list one by one would be more efficient than what we have now. It's one of several things that make me wonder what developmentally disabled interns were responsible for most of the design decisions on the mode.

Or they could just mimic swtor or wow where targeting just...works.
