WoW introduced a Dragon race in their game. Yoshi-P, please...

I really like the Dracthyr, and remind me of how hyped I was for female au ra before they dropped miqote with a skin condition on us. Definitely may main swap.

Ahem on topic: I'm on the fence. Reapers avatar form is so tied to the jobs identity. They build the entire toolkit around turning into your avatar form. Estinien is an important story NPC and has access to other abilities that the player just can't get their hands on. I think those are the two important points here. Then again SE loves their homogenization.

While I think the idea is potentially very interesting, I think their design was very weird. They look more like lizards to me than dragons. Something about their dragon form is very... off.
I also heavily dislike the idea of having the class and race so heavily tight together. No evoker without dragon, no dragon without evoker. But I also appreciate the several classes on one character that FF14 has way too much.

In Istaria, you could actually play as Dragons......I mean legit four legged dragon race......

My XI character is a Dragoon main in XI, and actually how I came up with the idea of my name.

Dragoons actually absorbed their dragons in XI.

Shame their appearance did not change; aka Legend of Dragoon -esque Dragon-man hybrid.

Anyway, that mechanic in XI was an amazing idea; one of the reasons I keep going back to XI after all these years.

Maybe introduce it as a limit break or something; and have Warriors go Ultimate Warrior or something since their symbol actually looks like that face paint.

I actually had a silver dragon character in Istaria. On top of that, I actually had my own HOME (well, a glorified cave to be honest).

I didn't know you could combine with your Dragon, too, in XI! All the more reason to let XIV Dragoon have their own dragnet partner! :D

would be neato, but if we have several existing races getting neglected if not outright abused by the modeling and design teams, legit I don't want to subject any others to the butcher's shears of ear-clippings.

That came later in the game's cycle. They made that skil and had it replace Call Wyvern as the DRG 2h cooldown ability because of how easy it was at times for the wyvern to get KO'ed during battle which let them put call wyvern on a much shorter cooldown. Essentially what it did was just provide a short duration stat boost.

That seems like a pretty significant and beneficial fix. At least to me, it does. Haven't played XI (yet), but I can only imagine the sheer frustration and anger that caused before the DRG fix. xD
