Will you start/go back to playing WoW if they add housing in the next expac?

WoW has a lot more issues than no housing. The fact that it caters to the 1% of the players, has ridiculous forced grinds and engagement mehcanics that don't carry over to alts, borrowed power systems that are constantly removed from the game, and a crap story are bigger factors.

Housing won't help WoW if the core of the game is still bad. Just like if FF14 got suddenly 100 new relic weapons to grind - only those currently engaged with the game would be interested.

They could add palaces, castles with fortresses, wouldnt matter.

I dont play a game where they consider anyone OCE as a fourth class customer. I also dont play a game where the day night cycle is tied to US time. In FF 14 I get to see glorious daylight and stunning vistas..on OCE WOW servers its night all the time.

Blizzard has refused to even DISCUSS the matter for:

SIX

FULL

YEARS

Any and all OCE issues are ignored, brushed aside, even direct questions on issues are ignored by their so called "community managers" who have time to discuss cute pink gnome hair or funny puppy stories, but wont reply to genuine gameplay issues.

WOW is old, out of date, obsolete, its gameplay poor by todays standards, its graphics are primitive and quite frankly, the current Blizzard team are incapable of maintaining any serious quality standards. I did not just leave WOW, i NUKED my Blizzard account.

Well no housing, but a new class combined with a new race, back to roots with a real talent tree, get rid of borrowed power, not to bad. With lich king classic starting end this year also a good move to reduce waiting time for dragon isle.
All in all smart move by Blizzard what probably will bring a lot of players back if casual players will have enough content as well.

I see a lot of people hyped about it. I really hope this is a good expansion launch for them, and a wake up call for SE. I kind of hope they would do housing, as that would also make for good competition.

I did cancel my sub when all the news came out but then I re-subbed when the news came out that Microsoft are going to take over next year and that the current CEO will need to leave (which has already happened).
Personally though, I hope they will NOT add housing and instead put more focus and effort into doing things 'right', basically the opposite of what they've been doing for the past 10 years.

Though, I don't put my hopes up too much, an expansion is made in a day and this was/is still heavily influenced with the past leadership. I only hope that once Microsoft takes over they can make it better agtain.

Housing is something I often really enjoy in a game/MMO, but its no way the only reason why I play. It could be one of the reasons why I start playing a game (The customisation options was a big draw and reason why I played Animal Crossing) but despite my disappoint in how housing in FFXIV is gatekept behind luck, its not gonna be a reason for me to switch MMO home.

Besides when it comes to WoW, the Blizzard would need to do ALOT more (Both inside the game and outside) then just improve housing to even get me tempted to return to that world… I would also need a PC that was not basically a potato on support. That would help too.

Seeing WoW implement GW2's award winning momentum-based flying mount system makes me sad that FFXIV will never do the same thing.

The whole ethos around WoW of borrowed power you gotta charge up this expansion only to become obsolete next expansion killed it for me.

I'ts possible that for Devs , Covid complication is laziness and being out of touch ? Got feeling like SE and Blizzard suffering from it .

They got their own servers, then pissed and moaned about the real-time day/night cycle. The community is never happy.

It's because they're region sharing with NA, cross realm party etc with NA, and it'd cause issues. You spend all your time in areas that don't have daylight anyway (entire expansion, dungeons, raids) that it doesn't really matter.

I quit WoW after WotLK and while I went back a few times specifically Cataclysm and Mists of Panderia there were brief and the whole experience felt very hollow. Since that time I have never gone back again.

Definitely early WoW are some of my most memorable experiences I had a lot of fun so whatever.

GW2's mount system is not just unlimited flying in 3 dimensions like your bog standard MMO flying. GW2's Griffon has you press spacebar to flap your wings, which uses up your mount's energy. Diving has you gain momentum, flying forward loses momentum, and flying straight up means that you lose momentum very quickly. It takes skill to be able to maintain height and travel long distances with the Griffon. WoW's dragon riding seems to be imitating this. Such as setup requires responsive netcode, which FFXIV and its input delay does not have.

I may go back to dabble in Classic again in a few years, but I'll never go back to play either version with any seriousness. I'd much, much, much rather play XIV with only my FC room and apartment than play any other MMO currently available.

The WoW presentation? I thought it was actually really good. The biggest issue is Blizz never has an issue with releasing expansions, it's issues it releasing patches afterwards.

And no WoW adding housing would have no affect if I were to play it or not. If it were added though I doubt it would be as terrible as FFXIV's housing, it takes true effort to make a housing system that bad from that start and progressively make it worst over time. WoW if added, would make it instanced, and never add anything to it again.

The day night cycle was changed in 2016, TWO YEARS after the launch of the OCE servers, which started in 2014. i was there.

No it isnt, and its already been stated as to why they did this. We had crossrealm for the two years prev with zero issues. They broke it deliberately to keep their American customers happy.

if the only thing for me to do is basically log in once a week and clear the alliance raid its not really worth it, so i'm basically done with this game outside of looking at the forums on my phone. the only reason id even consider logging in is if very specific people need me for something; and ill probably cancel my sub once it's clear those people are also done with the game until they unfuck housing


edit: i know i have to pay for a sub, but i can save 11 bucks every 2 month and take up space, without making any other purchases or contribute anything else, i guess?

or if people think the lottery system is ideal, i could just unsub entirely and let my house rot after 45 days, in which the crummy small i have that nobody probably wants anyway will demo and be lost to FC housing so no one can have it regardless lmao. its not like ill need it to bid on larges that become available

or they can admit their vision is stupid and just add instanced homesteads with exteriors and interiors that are functionally isolated plots in an inaccessible backdrop

housing is actually alot of fun, its not as simple as "theres a new housing item, i put it somewhere and log out" because you can make alot of crazy weird rooms using mashes of furniture. it doesnt sound like you really care about it at all, so go look it up.
housing in smalls and apartments suck because of the low placeables limit. its only a small facet youre missing if all you care about is gardening lol

Sad thing is, when you get a house you have to resub every other month and log in and go into your house. All it really does it lock you into a sub more. And it's not really this huge amount of missing content that will keep your game play lasting for ever. You set your crap out on your house and every now and then a new item comes out and you get it and put it some where. You may as well play animal crossing, the sims, or really anything else if you want to have fun with housing that isn't attached to a monthly fee.

Played from launch up to MoP then left full time for this game in early 2014. Poked my head in for Legion. Poked it right back out. They couldn't pay me to go back.

I do have a house here in XIV I've had for 6 years but if I didn't then I've got multiple instanced houses including a whole darned castle back in EQII. I can get my fix there.

No, the only thing that could possibly tempt me to go back to WoW at this point is either a Guildwars 2 style time skip, or a total, hard reboot of the setting like they planned for Everquest Next. Plus, a massive showing of good will that they intended to stop putting all the important story content inside of novels rather than in the game, and that they actually put some level of effort into planning out the narratives of their game longer than 1 patch ahead.

I burned the WoW bridge long ago. Played it at vanilla launch and got bored. Gave it a second and third try when Burning Crusade and Lich King came out. Both cases I got bored again within a month so it was deemed no longer worth spending any money on.

I tried playing WoW twice. Second time was a few years after the first. The game did absolutely nothing to stand out from the countless other mmos I've played in the past so I quit both times. Nothing can get me to start playing that game at this point.

If you are going to play a game for housing, this is not it. ESO has an amazing housing system that allows you to own all houses in the game at once and allows you to be much freer in how you decorate all those houses. And all you need to do is have the gold or real money to buy them. The housing system here is not only hard to get into due to restrictions but incredibly restrictive with furniture as well. All you can do here is spin an object and sometimes set things on top of each other whereas there you can move and place things freely, not to mention have mounts and pets roam around your property. Now there are other things that SE does much much better than ESO but if you are here strictly for housing, then you are in the wrong place. Unless you love the super saccharine chibi aspect, which is thankfully non-existent in eso.

I wish this game had a housing system like ESO, which is likely the best housing system on the market right now in terms of mmos. But instead they rushed getting it out because housing was a highly requested feature. They made tons of promises, like wards auto-generating as they were needed and being able to use things like free company points to expand your house, add towers and rooms, and a lot of unique city-state and zone themed furniture. But the game was still in its infancy and they were doing everything possible to appease the player base, so systems like this were rushed and content was nerfed, and its been downhill since in many ways with some systems.
