Apart from RP reasons, (I think Yoshi stated this as one of the reasons they're doing it) I think this is going to be their method to alleviate storage issues.

ya pretty much i have two account under my name but also my beta account because i forgot to link my beta account with my account so now i have Final fantasy XIV 1 Cancel which is my beta and final fantasy xiv 2 and final fantasy xiv 3 which are both the account i use and both got legacy and my gf account also so i'm pretty happy.

I'll probably use a character slot just so I can experience 2.0 fresh while keeping my original character for everyday stuff. Why 8, though? No idea. I'm not turning down free slots, however. The one big drawback I can see is that this will provide RMTs with more opportunities to farm.

I'm not, to be honest, but I won't look a gift horse in the mouth. Honestly, one of the unique things about XI and XIV was to have just one character that really represented you rather than a million alts. I might make some alts just to see how the different new cs look, but leveling even one class to 50 on one character is slower than a lot of other MMOs' single class character progression. You'd have to worry about the time someone put in if they had multiple characters with all 50s.

Correct. I have Final Fantasy XIV, which was my account for beta, and then I made Final Fantasy XIV 2 as my live account when the CE released. I forget why I did it that way, but I had a reason at the time.

Norack, if you have more than one possible email address, check them all... or go to Account Management and see which one you assigned for the account. I had forgotten I had changed the address at some point, and I was checking the wrong account. Of course it doesn't mean it will be the same in your case, but it doesn't hurt to double check.
