I mean, considering how much they’ve been going on with the unisex things and trying to be more about “gender equality” you’d think that would include having some male oriented glams for healers no? Or does that not count?

They're mot as pretty as the elegant rimless glasses tbh, but I'll frikin take it, I've been wanting to wear glasses with some hats/horns since forever! Hopefully more designs are added in the future
I admittedly was lowkey hoping, but not expecting, that part of the chest would get adjusted for male characters to expose even more of their torso [the Hroth in the previous...preview of that set made it look like his whole pec was out lol] . But nah /sigh
Either way, I guess what makes it look "feminine" would be that it kept its ...'corset bra' outline, for lack of a better word - the chest has a soft V shape, rather than a U, so it implies there's meant to be boobies there, even if the wearer has none.
HP and damage, values used in battle calculations have been downscaled
Please note, however, that these changes will have little to no effect on game balance.
Epic Echo status effect increases player attributes in order to maintain a level of difficulty similar to that experienced before the introduction of downscaling. The strength of this effect varies by duty level.
Does the second line not mean that they didn't balance content? That they are just throwing echo around instead of actually balancing content? And while the game isn't broken(hopefully), it is lazy design. Let's not do it right we will just throw an echo on anything that is broken.
Law's Order Corselet is a nice Healer Glam for male characters and not just females. Good luck dying it though. No way am I grinding that all out.
An issue I had with Memoria was that the reward for just dying AF gear wasn't enough based on what it was. I was hoping for some sick Garlean Armor like Varis was wearing and that was a huge letdown to me. Especially with how dirty they did Varis as a character.
Even if he essentially is an Expy of Gestahl from FFVI.
I agree, this seems like a really stupid idea and very counter intuitive.
If it was a toggle switch within search... sure, I can see people wanting that.
But having to switch through 20 jobs to see what you can queue for seems extremely asinine and will slow down PFs filling
With the plethora of unisex attire especially with Veteran Rewards having costume sets of male characters for everyone Female characters very much can wear a large majority of gear while male characters are locked out. With most costumes being something you can replicate in recycled gear with a few outliers such as Aymeric's Coat.
Females are catered to when it comes to Cash Shop extras which gives greater incentive to play a female character if not for just having more options then males do.
The only baller looking Male only gear has always been HW Thancred and Ser Aymeric.
The thing is, there are multiple ways to "balance" it.
In one way you can say it is balanced because everyone can wear the costumes that were selected as veteran rewards.
In another way it is completely unbalanced because they have favoured selecting male characters' costumes to be those rewards in the first place.
Straighten that out to be "even" with male and female costumes. Now people are unhappy because "women still look good in the male outfit but men look bad in the female outfit".
Back and forth. Balanced and skewed. Someone is going to be unhappy with it at all times.
(But this is the patch notes thread and I am going to try very hard to not turn this into another identical debate on this perennial subject.)
Someone mentioned Tellah earlier in this thread but why anyone would want to dress up like this as a healer is beyond me:

Rydia/Rosa's gear just looks better for both men and women.
Here you go.

Now I think for Female FF character costume sets they would need to include the hairstyles as well and Tifa's hair as well as Garnet have waist long hair which the Devs seem hesitant on including. Especially since we still do not have Iceheart or Hilda's hairstyles either. Which I'd prefer majestic long hair even if it would end up looking like a cheap blanket.
Not to mention Fran's long hair either.
Moving on regardless of how many male/female sets there are many can agree that girls look better in them in more ways then males do. And this is primarily for a looooooong time all the new gear is some kind of dress, robe or overcoat instead of actual armor.
Which the men and larger characters absolutely SHINE in armor.
Unless it's Halone's Armor because on men that chest piece sticking out is the ugliest thing on the planet making the female version much better by a mile.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure if they gave us Tellah as "the" mage pick from the FFIV it would only bring fairness because it would be complained about by both genders. I'm not interested in dressing up any of my characters like that.
Also, both the caster and healer glamour are the same model (Rydia). Rosa is far more revealing.

I don't think I'd use the body piece on any of my male characters, but some of the other pieces of Rydia's outfit should be useful. The boots look cool, the gloves are probably just the hand piece and not the flared sleeves and more headpieces that aren't flowers are always welcome.
The pants might work with something, though the "just took the women's thigh-high stockings and filled in the bare bit" look always annoys me when they do that (as does the women getting thigh-high stockings again in the first place).
Ah, interesting but still a difference nonetheless. And that isn’t even including again all of the feminine style healing gear. All in all i just wish they’d put more effort into at least the male side of things in this case for Rydia’s outfit, or at least made the male version a different outfit like say Fusoya or Tellah or hell, even Golbez. As it is it looks pretty horrid as we can see on that au ra.
No, you're missing a few keywords in the patch notes here. The 1st line refers to all content when its synced. Pre & Post stat scaling, all content should feel the same as it was balanced before.
Epic Echo is referring exclusively to unsyncing content. Due to the fact our current scaling is exponential rather than closer to linear, each expansion's level cap is about 2-3x stronger than the previous one was. Meaning you're roughly ~15x stronger than you were at the end of ARR. This is why ARR & HW stuff is so trivially undersized, because you're so crazy strong comparatively.
With the new scaling, gains will be closer to a more linear scale, meaning instead of being 15x stronger at 80 than you were at 50, you might be like, 3-4x stronger. this will have the unintended effect of making everything harder to undersize since you can't bulldoze through everything as you could before with insane stat lines. Epic Echo has been implemented to reverse this undesired effect when undersizing by emulating the strength you have currently pre-stat squish. Allowing them to keep their downscaling, while not butchering player's ability to undersize ARR/HW/SB content.
It means they put in twice the work to maintain the current level of balance in two situations, synced or unsynced.
Everything is rebalanced for the stat-squish while level synced. There's no echo for your duty roulettes and current-level content. Enemy HP and damage will be lowered to match the lower Player damage and HP that we will have after the squish.
But that would create a problem for unsynced content. For instance, we can currently one-shot ARR Extreme primals with Blue Mage. This is only possible because we have ~15 times more damage with Level 70 gear, than we would with synced level 50 stats. After the stat squish, that difference will be much lower, because that's the whole point of the stat squish: to keep high level stats/damage/HP from growing to insane numbers.
But that means it would become harder at level 70-90 for people trying to solo old content unsynced. So SQEX is giving us an extra Echo when doing unsynced content at much higher levels, so that is equally difficult as it is right now.
Basically, they redid the stats to be naturally balanced when SYNCED, and had to do an additional balance pass, adding the Epic Echo for UNSYNCED. There's no way to keep the current balance in both situations without an Echo buff.
So no, it's not broken, and certainly not lazy, considering they put in extra effort to keep everything as close to the current difficulty as possible in all situations.
I'm not sure, but I hope this only applies to the Filter Search mode, where you can pick what class(es) you want to join as. So if you're not filtering, or you have all the classes selected (default), then it won't change anything.
I always appreciate the theme'd UI windows, the ones I've seen so far are pretty cool. It's not that I really dislike the 'traditional' FF simple colors box rounded corner UI that is pretty much ubiquitous to the series, it's just that I prefer and like those theme'd windows more. Also really excited for a few UI changes that I, and others probably, had asked for in the UI forum, which to me seems like further evidence they do indeed listen :3 (like four different unrelated items at least). Thank you for that!
A lot of other neat changes too, noting many polite to player's time ones (focusing on fun over grind rather than 'grind makes them take more time', which to me is one of many major reasons why FFXIV is *chef's kiss*), or like epic echo was another example of a requested (and received) change, but just thought to comment on the above- so far (it's a big list, and I just started scanning).
Also want to say I appreciate the time put into making the notes readable and visual too (nice pictures, even front / back slider).
So the stat squish was/is a nerf. It says only certain duties will have the new echo. So if I was running some random content to help someone or for WT and it took 4 mins before. If they didn't deem it important enough to get the new echo it could take way longer. That is very disappointing. Since I was sure every time I saw them mention it they said it wouldn't be a nerf. :(
Stat squish is a nerf when you consider damage potencies were reduced by 20% and you see most of the high end damage being at most 15k. And that the highest geared Tanks could reach 200k HP and got knocked down to 65k. Huge loss.
There is also concerns about bumrushing content unsynced which I think come Endwalker only Blue Mage with Basic Instinct + Mighty Guard + Self Buffs will be able to achieve.
I wouldn't be surprised if they nerfed Final Sting/Selfdestruct again.
No, you are misunderstanding.
If a mob had 10,000 health before the stat squish, and you hit it for 5,000 before the stat squish, it would take you two hits to kill it.
That same scenario, but after the stat squish, would be the mob has 1,000 health, and you hit it for 500.
I just see more of the same... a shame!
Do we know where the MSQ starts at yet? The two new jobs as well?
At least everything looks pretty!
i only see one new added hairstyle for viera , what about the rest or will be added on another patch ? anyone knows?
It had been confirmed female Viera are getting hairstyles. Specifically the ones shown on the Letter from the Producer being:
- Controlled Chaos
- Ponytail
- Battle-ready Bobs
- Pulse (Lightning)
- Scanning for Style
Anything else is up in the air if they have any of the other hairstyles unlocked. No one will know for sure until Friday.
