Probably because it has been stated over and over again from the company since 1.X. I would be "SHOCKED" if they don't use that excuse at least once next expansion.

Personally i hope they remoced ultima completly, im so tired of mecha trash and consindering almost this entire expansion as been mecha trash i hope we see 0 mecha stuff for 4 years

MMmmmm yes, another MPK megathread. I imagine extensive research was done, specifically into the kind of content MPK was wishing for. That content was cut, enjoy bunboi stuff everyone else.

Because it's true. You don't need to know their resource management. All you need to do is get an idea of how much work it requires, because work doesn't just magically get done.

Most people asking for Male Viera either do not understand or do not care that they're asking for ARR + 4 expansions worth of cosmetics to be made to work with Male Viera.

I can think of a few things that was sacrificed for Male Viera and Female Hrothgar.

Expanding visible head gear for CURRENT Viera/Hrothgar
Expanding hair styles for CURRENT Hrothgar (possible unlinking face and hair)

But MOST importantly expanding ALL character creation options such as beards, tattoos, scares, etc.

I wish SE had the stones to say what was cut or not cut due to this undertaking. Though if I had to say I do agree that overall customization options were cut due to them working on male bunnies.

I'd agree with the hairstyles but disagree with the character creation options. Those are completely separate things and we already know that the character creation options are limited by how characters are loaded into the server. They've said that they can increase the amount of character creation options, but that would involve cutting the number of players that can load on the screen, due to ARR spaghetti code. You're loaded into the game as a series of values and apparently the pools from which those values come from are limited, somehow.

That sounds less of a modeler-related workload and more of a server coding-related workload.

New viera hairstyles> male aura rabbit form for 20 people

Around 2% of players actually do Ultimate so if more than 2% of the players change into male Viera then it was well worth it if that is what they cut out or delayed.

I was hoping they'd fix the headpiece issue with Hrothgar/Viera, hopefully they still do.

I'm cool with male Viera cause it gives me another option to fantasia to when I get bored, but the ones they showed off, minus the white hair guy, looked way to lady boy.

But I'm sure you can make a masculine looking male Viera, probably just gotta full with it a few min but can be done, had to do the same with my Hrothgar cause I wanted to be a tiger.

That said MPK is a low quality troll but given how easily trolled this fanbase happens to be it's kinda the perfect fit. They don't even have to try anymore to get someone upset. Just fill out a madlibs card and post it to the forums and let the denizens here do the work.

I hope you dont mind me adding this to my signature because this is probably the best summary of the forums i've seen in all my years here.

I personally will be changing to male viera one day because I've been waiting for any Final Fantasy game to show us what they look like.

I've always had the suspicion that the dev team was gonna do the missing genders. It didn't sit right with me at first because they originally undid the ones for miqo, roe and highlander.

Then I saw someone post that they were going to use them as a selling point. It makes sense. They didn't have time or resources to both races with both genders (being unfinished is an entirely different issue), so they on the sly said that these were probably the last races added but nothing on the genders missing. So they reveal it along with the promise that female Hrothgar will come some time later.

They were never not going to release them, they just didn't have time during Shadowbringers and didn't want to make a promise if they couldn't come through. With Endwalker coming, they knew it was the right time to implement them despite covid eating their dev time. While not everyone will be going male viera, nearly all of my friends list will be. And plenty of others will too just like when female viera came out. It's insanely popular and SE wants those fantasia sales.

While it probably ate some glamour dev time, it was worth it. They look really good and while they likely have the same hat/hair limitations, I'm patient and can wait for them to add those things later. I personally am impressed how they turned out.

Also people wanted to know what male viera would look like and FFXIV having female viera, it was the right moment to showcase them. Mind you that we've never seen male viera ever in any of the Ivalice games, only text. This is bigger in the sense that the dev team managed this.

Long short short, it was worth it and I will always push for SE putting more emphasis on more customization.

I am already considering rolling one to make a Reaper.

Even though this is a semi troll thread, I kind of agree. When the video started with a Viera putting their gear on I thought they were announcing they’d fixed hats and helmets. Instead it’s just another limited race.

I’d rather they fixed what’s in the game already before adding extra restricted stuff.
