What Age Are Most of the players here?

I'm 38, as far as what generation I'm in then I'm not sure.

I consider myself generation x cause that's what I heard growing up but a friend 3 years older then me said I'm the oldest of the millennials generation, so I don't know, I guess whatever generation a 38 year old falls under.

It sucks non-gamers preceive us as child just because we like games, I'm turning 35 this year. Gaming has been in my heart and hobby all the time.

Fanfest is = Super Bowl for me. I have no interests in real world sport. Gaming is a hobby just like Sport on TV. Watching Movie/TV shows is also a hobby.

In the end, every single one of them is an Entertainment - either you sit in front of TV don't do anything (shows, movies, sports) or interact with the still on screen with people = gaming/mmo.

I think gaming is more engaging and keeps my brain moving and thinking. I can't imagine myself just consume stuff show on screen while eating non-stop.

My parents were fine with my gaming but they only complain because I have no control of my time during my childhood. Games are very addictive - consume your entire day.

41. I guess I'm what you'd call a Xennial. My teenage years happened before social media (thank God) and the internet in general was just starting to take off.

That is very true, but a lot of the communities in game I've been apart of regularly used skype/discord, and i've never caame across any kids, at least I hope I didnt given the topics people talk about at times.

Sadly MMOs like this do attract those who would prey on children rather often, so people here are simply trying to look out for you. So if anything just keep your eyes open.

We have one person in my social LS who has younger children who play when she or her husband are on, but ONLY are allowed to play when they're on, and their communications are tightly monitored. She'll give a period reminder to the linkshell that "Ferret is on" and that would be our cue to keep the profanity and other adult subjects to a minimum for a while. I am 35. The people I play in my guild range between 28 and 40, which I would say is probably the average range of mmo players. Seems fairly constant in Archeage, Rift, and ESO as well. The genre has been really stagnate and not really bringing in new ppl. I do know a few younger people in the game and some really old farts (<20 crowd and > 50 crowd) but they are easily in the minority.

I also echo the use of caution giving out your age on any online forum or ingame especially if you are younger then 18. There are really messed up people out there. I do not think mmorpgs are bad as other mediums though, in my 18yrs playing these kind of games I have not came across 1 person I felt was targeting children. There are other venues which are more attractive to those kind of people such as Minecraft servers, VR Chat, Roblox, Fortnite, and so on. Aka the games that attract a lot more of the middle school and high school age brackets.

And especially in those fandoms that have been around longer than they've been alive. I can't enjoy Pokemon to them because 41 year olds shouldn't be playing it in their eyes, but I've been a fan since I was their age. Even longer for things like Final Fantasy.

We had a similar setup in our FC sadly it did cause some drama cause some of our members were not too keen on having to watch what they said in FC chat.

I did not mind so much was nice to see a child and there parent play video games together.

There's nothing wrong with trying to see the good in people, but...with age comes wisdom and experience. Some of us simply know how the world works, and it can be a really ugly place. Just be careful and don't take what anyone says at face value, especially on the internet.

31 currently, and most of the people in my FC are slightly younger or older than I am. I think the youngest is 24? Don't quote me on that. This style of game doesn't seem to appeal to many teens these days so it's increasingly rare that I'll see someone under eighteen playing unless they're doing so with their siblings or parents.

My sister is 52 and still beats me in the game :p

Outside life is shutting down - I'm going to world travel myself to Eorzea but I need to stay at level 35 as I age yearly.

Surprised by the responses. I'm 31 but I've given up doing statics because 90% of the discords I ended up joining sound like people are hardly over 18, if that. Not an insult to those who are that age, just too old to be hanging around that obviously.
