Please change Road to 70. Forcing new characters 90 days bonus exp is a punishment.

Doesn't matter if you say new player or old player or whatever. It implies illegitimate intent. Therefore, anything trolls say can be ignored. Because psychopaths like that are the only thing baseless.

If somebody did have legitimate intent, they would reply respectfully. Including offering their points in a constructive and respectful manner. That aside, I don't entertain BS from or pay mind to toxic waste.

Either way, the discussion has gone way too far off base. The essential point had to do with double exp being forced onto new characters being created on preferred servers. It has a major affect on the game. Otherwise, so many users wouldn't be saying how much it has benefitted them in leveling an alt. However, this effect ends up ruining the game in a much bigger way for anybody who actually isn't trying to bypass the base game content in order to catch up to expansion content. Hence, should be an optional buff. Like consuming a potion. If you take it, you're stuck with it for 90 days. But as some kind of consumable, you have that option to not take it. Rather than the game just forcing you to be stuck with that buff for 90 days no matter what. For no other reason than wanting to play on a server your friend is on.

A toggle works just as well, which is something other games have used either through use of a NPC or through something in the character profile.. Don't want the buff? Toggle it off. Find you're starting to get behind on levels somehow? Toggle it back on so you stay caught up.

It shouldn't have to be an all or nothing situation at any point. It's supposed to be an incentive so players chose less populated worlds for their new characters. It's not much of one if players feel it negatively impacts their game experience despite wanting to play on the preferred world.

I’d be more concerned about the new player that inadvertently turns/cancels their xp boost than the exceedingly rare individual that doesn’t want it to begin with.

I mean, if people want to level slower then more power to them. Not really anyone's place to tell them how to level. Do I feel that a toggle for an exp buff is necessary? Not really, no. Most people WANT to level fast. But I'm also not against the idea. I just don't think it would be worth the time and resources to please a few random players.

Honestly? I'm not against it either, ultimately. I just think OP's reasoning for it is wacky and bad. The idea to have it as a toggle or an opt-in is ultimately harmless and wouldn't hurt.

I don’t know. I don’t see the issue with making it an option to toggle the EXP buff on or off depending on your preference. If you’re leveling and alt or alt jobs and want to bum-rush things and get lots of EXP, toggle it on. If you just want to take things at a slower pace and not massively out level the current MSQ—this is particularly egregious in ARR—turn it off. Don’t see the big deal in making this an option. I’d actually like to toggle off extra EXP gains if I just felt like it.

I actually have an alt on another server—standard world—that I have not used any EXP boosts on (e.g., Brand New Ring, Aetheryte/Ala Mhigan Earrings, food bonuses, not doing daily roulettes...I’m even avoiding rested EXP) and so far have only been level-locked once (at level 40 MSQ in Coerthas). And that was only by half a level. I don’t know. It’s been quite fun to do things “at level” rather than massively over-leveling things. But I’m weird and enjoy doing stuff like that.

Just clarifying that a transfer isn’t an option because any and all characters created on a preferred world cannot transfer off of the preferred world for 90 days. Which is the duration of the Road to 70 buff.

Also you're using ad hominem attacks to dismiss their entire response, just like you have been your entire post history in this thread - they're a troll therefore, they as a person are baseless. And because they responded to you in a manner in which YOU deem disrespectful, they're a psychopath and therefore they as a a person are baseless.

Anyways, in regards to anyone who came to this thread for legitimate conversation, I personally am not necessarily against some sort of trigger to turn off the exp buff, but only because it's not something that'd affect my gameplay. Instanced content is synced down, and if I for some reason wanted to ruin my self esteem with "cHaLlEnGiNg" content, I'd just purchase some gear from a vendor that's either at or below the level I think would challenge me. I enjoy being able to walk or ride from place to place without being needlessly attacked by overworld mobs that give like... 500 EXP. Also, while I know that levelling my character has been relatively fast despite my like two week break, it will slow down, as is normal for MMOs. Se la vie.

Um. Making an alt is the only way anyone who has already gotten their main to max can even experience ARR as it is now. So it is relevant. It's the only way I can try to experience what you are experiencing because you can never experience what I experienced in ARR because THAT ARR no longer exists.

At this point I think the creation of an item that stops experience gain, like the nixperience band from FFXV is the best option. That way you can cap it off. I think too many new players would forget to activate their Road to 70 item for that to to be effective or fair but I'm not opposed to the idea in general. Sorry it's bothering you so much. And yes, ppl in dungeons can be jerks. Hope it gets better for you.

Considering this is a story based game, you are already hit with the massive brick wall from the start of the game to endgame being the base game and 3 expansions. I legitimately would not have played this game to the extent that I have if I was constantly hitting level locks due to being underleveled for the story, mainly cause ARR has the pacing (even after the 5.3 cut) of a dying turtle. I love this games plot, but only after getting to 2.4 when things actually start picking up.

And the irony IMO is that, well for alts exclusively, the 2.1~3.0 transition became worse thanks to the mandatory alliance raid adding more time than the quests they trimmed.

I think OP misunderstands a lot of the things they're complaining about and doesn't seem to understand that they'll be level synced down every single day for the rest of their playtime in FFXIV no matter where they go or what they're doing, that level sync is unavoidable unless they only do cap level duties or sit idle in town all day.

That said, I don't see a problem at all with letting people toggle off the road to 70 buff. I can't really agree that it's a problem having it, but it seems reasonable that someone should be able to turn it off if they don't want it.

The likelihood is that the option won't materialize because there's no real reason to turn it off.
