There are no maps to unlock in the current version only gates. What she means is that when you make the maps unclouded from 0-100% you get achievements.

Well I think, unlike our current maps, the new ones will probably have a smaller level range in them. Can't find any source but I thought this was mentioned at some point. Instead of each area being 1-99. Early maps will be easy to explore at cap I'm guessing.
Like Discovered 100% of the map kinda achivments kinda like FF4 DS?
Instead of Achivment Rewards in items this time, can we get something like a Keytitem. Maybe something like add 10mins extra on Food buffs costumed in the areas that you have 100% Achivement or +2% more exp or improve Treasure Chart scans for DoL once they obtained the Treasure Charts.
Be nice if these Area Bonus's change time to time in all areas. That way gives players options to go to other exp camps and gathering DoL spots to use the bonuses.
Other other topic. Can we have Treasure Charts Spawn the following...
Special Enemies, Chests=EXP/Popitems/Equipment/Gil/Materials that Grand Companies are requesting for seal exchange.
When a Special Enemy is spawn in a treasure chart location can we have that NM to stay there for a good hour~5 hours before despawning until its killed. Maybe have it none agressive so when they do spawn it by mistake it doesn't kill the DoL. This of Course be like 3% spawn.
NM=3%
Gil=30% Like 10k/30k/50k/70k depending on location and rareness of the chart.
Lesser Equipment=30%
Spawn Items=10%
Exp=27%
Grand Companies Materials will alwas drop. Maybe new Chart only items to be exchanged and pay out...
400/800/1200/1600 seals depending on item.
Huh? That isnt how it works, the map will unlock as you explore, like Diablo 3 or FF13, you have to run around, you will only make a section of it visible.
So sure you could tele there, but you will only unlock like 2% of the map since you'll only unlock a radius around you at a time. You still have to go gallivanting around.
I hope its not blacked out in the way RTS games do the fog of war. I would prefer say.. reaching a crystal reveals a good chunk of the area surrounding it. I can see this being a good thing or a bad thing. I hope for the best. Another Idea to this is purchasing maps if you dont explore them by foot. Because the areas are going to be big right? I want to know where to go in general.. So if they do this make maps purchasable, with the truely hard areas still fogged because they have not been explored so much since they contain HNM or boss areas the map makers would not go there... really I dont know if I like this idea

(It says it in the OP lol)Quote:
When you first play 2.0, the 2D world map is covered and you will have to actually travel to that part of the map to unlock it
i just want the maps to feel alive.
Awesome! Good desicion devs
Well for me that could mean both. Travel to a part of the map and reveal that hole part, travel to the next part and reveal that hole part (like Wow where the maps are divided by invisible borders, if you crose them you get a part of the map revelead). Or it could mean like the Diablo 3 System. I don't think which one it is is clear form that statment.
I've read that too. But still thanks for the quote.
I think a diablo like system is harder to implement with an achievment. In a wow like system you just need to check which parts are revelead. Diablo stile would kinda mean you need to check every pixel on the map if you ever touched it. Imagine a big field with actually nothing visible on the map and you running around to figure out which pixel of that big empty field you missed.
I think it would be silly for them to make it unlock whole map by visiting area, they must know we have all teles and that is just easy, we would do it in like 20 minutes and that be it, back to square one, making it an absolute pointless design, a waste of resources, but SE like to do that for some reason so who knows!
I think it will be Diablo style.
It's not like they have never done it before....
If they could do it in Final Fantasy X in the Omega Ruins...where you had to run around to see this optional dungeon and where you're going......why can't they do it here?
If Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy XIII-2 had NO maps when you started in an area, and you either had to navigate every corner to get the full map, or buy a map but was greyed out in areas where you haven't explored.....why can't they do it here? FFXIII-2 even had a fragment reward for 100% completion in most areas....
I'm sure they'll come up with something that doesn't unlock the entire region around it when you take one step into the zone. Heck, half of Coerthas will be lit up with a steps away from the aeths then.
Was it stated that the already existing aetherites will stay? Like, if you have Camp Dragonhead (w/e) unlocked, will you be able to port to its counterpart? I pretty much doubt that.
Oh, and I also hope you won't be able to port others to places they haven't been before come 2.oh. I don't want to be able to reach all city states within a few minutes on my first day of playing XIV as with v1.0.
I think they mentioned that the areas would still exist... complete with their Aetherytes... they would just look different after having been transformed by "Something" (back then we didn't know it would be Dalamud)
they never specifically said if we would be able to teleport to these "new but old" aetherytes but my personal opinion (Which doesn't amount to much) is that we will... but like PV said, you'll only have the map open for the 2 yalms around you at the node and still need to explore the zones
For some people it's an incentive to play more. Look at PS3 and Xbox. Some people even buy games they don't like just to get more points.
I must admit, I like it. It's an encouragement of some sort. And, you also get items (the best part!). :D
Some people require a reward for doing something or they don't find it worthwhile. While there are people who play a game for the enjoyment of playing, there are others who seem to play primarily for the rewards. The required activities for them are merely "a means to an end", or a "necessary evil".
Well every MMO does this blind map thing, and I liked that FF14 didn't. I guess it's better than FF11's map system, where you had to travel all over the freaking place to buy maps.
