Why we have to rethink the way we allow Limited jobs

Can confirm having done some sybced trials with BLU, as a fill in healer its not awful, but its certainly not great. Good luck replacing any tank, its damage can spike in burst but most of those are 1 hit wonders wiith a long reuse. Angel whisper is the worst res hands down, and 1 use, non instant(still requires swiftcast) every 2 or 3 minutes. It is the opposite of overpowered imo.
They just need to adjust stat scaling, and give it a proper damage scaling weapon, it really isnt all that broken

Many thought it was casual mainly because of the Masked Carnival and Blue Mage Log. These 2 are the casual part of Blue Mage and let's be honest everyone skill level is different. Just because some of us excel or perform better doesn't mean others can perform as consistently as us. Whilst the achievement is savage only, since it involves doing Bahamut and Alexander Savage to obtain the achievement. However again what is easy to some isn't easy for others.

Which is why the limited status must go, people don't want to use party finder for a dungeon as they use it for serious things mainly for Ultimate or Savage current tier raids. That or for Hunts, events (Made by a player), RP cafe (Yup... still exists), One job party (All PLD A4S), FATEs (Fate farming), Recruitment for FC or Static. Finding a Blue Mage spell party is difficult so the better option would be to use Duty Finder, but we can't.

yeah i agree. at first glance when rdm was introduced we thought RDM was op too. dps caster that can heal, raise, do melee etc, seems like RDM can do everything when it first got hits stormblood. but over the time it got toned down to balance.. and now rdm is actually a bit underwhelming. with proper potency and effect planning nothing is overpowered.

hmm yeah i mean in the end it's up to personal taste, personally i don't really like the challenges, Carnivale is kinda fun for me but you can just binge it in 1-2 days and finish it. The skill collecting, i'm never really fond of, i hate that you have to find other people to help you out to get your skill, given how rare a BLU skill grind PF after like the first 1-2 weeks of new skill releases.
The synced savage raids you have to do to get the Morbol mount are not exactly easier than how they're used to be for normal jobs, sure you can cheese tons of mechanics, but the tank and healer BLU mechanics are so janky it makes a lot of things harder, and how a lot of mechanics in raid are supposed to be given strictly to job roles, and with BLU it'll all be randomized cause they're all dps, i think an easy fix for this is that they should make Aetherial Manipulation change your job role instead of just a stance.

to be fair all job has casual content like leve or guildhest. but nobody do those anyway, those are merely label, bluemage version of casual content can be masked carnivale, and still be a normal job.

The difference here is that the Carniavle is both casual ENDGAME content and also specific to BLU, no other jobs has exclusive content and the Leves and Hests taper off after a given level (unless you craft or gather) and are more used for leveling.

Combat Leve(s) are trash, mainly because there is no more combat leves after Heavensward and only crafter leves. So yeah they really aren't endgame and more for quick leveling for crafters. As for Masked Carnival it is Endgame but... its not like a dedicated endgame compared to what we have with a normal job endgame content. At best it is a puzzle box and once solved once you don't need to touch it again (Achievement is also a one time reward).

I am fine with BLU being the first and last limited job.

Better idea, how about it becomes a normal job and SE never pulls another Limited Job ever again. :3

to be honest i'm not strictly against the idea of limited jobs, i just want BLU(or other's favorite jobs in the future) to be playable in normal contents, they can just make it both limited and normal job, sure it's extra work but making side content is already extra work from the get go. i can't imagine the disappointment people will get when something like Beastmaster is locked behind say, a monster collecting "limited job" side content.

if anything, masked carnivale was a neccesity to reach the true end game for blue mage (8man raid content bluemage) since you have to do masked carnivale to get angel whisper. so yeah i agree with you about masked carnivale isn't really an end game content. at the end of the day, masked carnivale started off as a good concept
for a content that sadly only ends up as a stepping stone because you lock the real rewards behind another content. i mean the puzzle box thingy where you mix and match skillset to finish the stage is cool and all but in the end people will just look for guide and then blaze through it for the skills then go for savage..

I like blue mage.. the only thing I dislike about it is that it’s a total solo experience right until the end, then suddenly for the Marlboro mount and best titles I’ve got to be raiding savage content at level and I need to find enough other blue mages who are willing to put time in for that...

It’s ridiculous. But that’s actually the only thing I’d change. If they did a ‘beastmaster’ or similar tomorrow I’d level it on day one and enjoy the quests and the experience.

yeah that's why it's kinda confusing it's own identity.. before the BLU savage raid achievements, you can KINDA solo it(because when collecting skills you need a party, without a party the learning rate is so low), and Carnivale is a totally solo instance that i can get on with, it tests people's creativity(even though people will end up using guides anyway) but still it's fun to see people tackles it different ways, but that's about the only "solo" part of the current Blue Mage, the rest are Party Finder content. They really need to decide which one they want the job to identify with, though it's pretty much decided with the Savage Raid achievements anyway.
