I don't think since release that 12,000 people have been online at any given time. Maybe 6, on a weekend. I'm sure we have server counts somewhere.

There may be alot more than 12,000 players, but I'm talking about "active subscriptions" (people paying to play)

you are still comparing an established MMO that started out in an unsaturated MMO market that didn't attempt to rebuild itself from ground up. I could say the exact same thing about WoW vs FFXI.

At this time in Final Fantasy XI's existence (2 years in) the game had 190,000 active subscriptions. Care to debate your prior statement?

WoW blew FFXI out of the water in every possible instance if we are talking about Subs. It is the largest MMO in the history of, well.. ever.

you just made my point, does that make WoW a better game? No, and neither does your comparison of FFXI vs FFXIV sure I liked FFXI for about 6 months and I was done with it, I have stuck with XIV since beta with no absences. even with FFXI's amount of content I still like this game better and numbers will not change that, just like people liking XI better then WoW.

there are on average 12-15k on at any given time right now in game....people are reporting easily 1k-2k people online on there servers at random times during the day

10 servers...do the math(rag reporting about half of what others have)

you just obviously dont pay attention and like to spit out bad info

Good call lol. my apologies, /s was not enough.

The shouts for 10-14 parties every 20 seconds.... or the shouts for power leveling 40~50 w/ 100k per level are both equally annoying ~_~"

I really hate the "i'm lazy invite me to a party because I know you have one started" shouts. But anyone trying to form a party (as long as it isn't every 10~20 seconds for an hour) is fine by me. Randomly having a few pages (printed) worth of dialogue in /sh is also annoying, but that's like asking kids to put their toys away. People like to do what they want without regard for others.

EDIT: Just as a clarification, the person I was referencing shouted for over an hour for a 10-14 party at 3/8 members.

Clarification for those debating the subscription numbers. I am a FF fan and dislike WoW (just not my cup of tea.)

The verdict? WoW holds the most active subscriptions in the MMO world. However, one thing can be said about XI which is consistency. That consistency only dropped off with the release of EQ2 and steadily declined for a 2-year time period. Note that this does not correlate with WoW's numbers. This indicates that the FF franchise and the WoW franchise do not detract from one another.
