Of course not you! :)

Stop interacting with him. Hes feeding off these posts. Let's get back to the original point of the post.
God you guys are all a bunch of nerds.... fighting over digital crap.
It's easier to think of me like a half breed from twilight. At my core I'm a nerd and I am welcomed amongst them but I have the potential to survive among the cool 1% elite as well if my survival depends on it.
https://gist.github.com/theabhishek2...0479fbc0463570 if you thought it was rough w/o this kinda thing, expect it to be even rougher now that they can bot it ... SE FIX THIS BULL .
Still hoping for an answer to my questions about openly attempting to buy an FC with a house for gil.
Gotta agree with Ethan, botting for housing is nothing new. People set themselves on busy, so they can't be interrupted, then bot to their hearts content.
The sad part is a lot of the people botting for housing are legitimate players and not gold farmers who have been driven to near insanity trying to get a house, the result is pushing legitimate players into cheating. I remember complaining in my FC on a different data center about having to compete with bots for a home, and one of my FC members advice was to PM me on discord where and how to bot like the people I was complaining about saying it's the only way to get a house.
I blocked him of course, but it was crazy to see a top tier savage raider advise me to use a bot to get a home... It was honestly shocking for me to me to hear that, I'll just stick to complaining in the forums and in game about the housing situation instead of cheating.
You blocked him, but he's telling the truth. Unless you're on a JP world where plots are plenty, you're going to be fighting with multiple people botting at the same time. But it's a lot like mods. SE will absolutely tell you you shouldn't, but they can't monitor you and force you not to. Therefore, it will just be a thing until a true solution comes along.
It sucks, I report, but truthfully, how can you prove it?
Unless it's something like a website's open script, they can't hack your screen and say, "there's the traitor your majesty!"
Sadly, it is the truth if you want to increase your chances of getting a plot you either bot or stay up for hours trying to snag one yourself. It was honest and helpful advice that they gave you. Complaining only gets people so far, and people have been listing off complaints for years regarding housing and SE has done very little to change it so it is safe to assume SE is either fine with the current system and the lengths it drives people or they simply do not know how to go about offering a salutation to the problem. Either way players should just try to make the best out of the given situation instead of complaining or belittle those that resort to botting to get a plot. Better to work smarter not harder when the system is stacked against you.
Long story short your FC mate was right and blocking him for offering you a reasonable advice and fair chance to get a house is a bad character move on your end. Also just because you bot a plot it doesn't mean that you automatically win, i see often enough no lifers on my server competing against 10 or more other ppl (some of them are bots of course) and winning the plot. So its still possible, all you need to do is sitting 12h straight in front of your screen, clicking the card nonstop and get a bit lucky. If thats ok for you np, but dont mad at people that refuse wasting their lifetime for such bullshit system that treats them like a bunch of brainless monkeys.
Of course i dont report plot botters, for me this people where smart enough to find a acceptable solution for unacceptable situation. Reporting and punishing people for having a life is not right.
I joined the forum finally for the first time because my frustration over housing has reached it's climax. I already posted the suggestion in a different thread, but really why are automated systems being allowed? As a PS4 player, it is frustrating going with little sleep and continuously mashing buttons only loosing plots to people that set up some automated system on their PC. Instead new buyers and relocaters interacting with the placard within a set 12-24 hour timeframe (instead of the devaluation countdown) to be entered in a lottery for the plot would be fairer plus we'd be able to get back to actually playing the game instead of spending so much time standing by placards.
Dont ask me how, since i dont play on console, but i have heard and read several times that there is also some kind of automatation for people using a controller. I have no idea if that works with every controller or need a an additional addon for that on your console, but it seems possible doing something similar on the console.
This. This here, is solid. If you have 10 people at a placard and 8 are botting, 1 will win. That means all the other people lost. Did they lose because they botted or chose not to? No. They lost because of the system they have to deal with and that single person be they botting or no had the magic click.
They aren't allowed. They're against the Terms of Service. But that doesn't stop those who want to cheat from doing so and it can difficult for SE to detect whether the player is using an automated script or if they are doing it manually themselves.
Lotteries have been brought up before, with all the pros and cons listed. They aren't going to improve your game experience when the core problem is there are not enough houses on NA servers for those who want them.
You don't have to stand at a placard clicking for 12 hours straight to get a house while ignoring the rest of the game. If you want to be playing the rest of the game, go play it. You could always check back at the plot once an hour and spend a few minutes clicking before going off to do something else. There's always that chance the timer will expire while you're there and you'll be the lucky one to get the house. We've seen the stories of players who come to complain that they spent 8 hours camping just for someone to show up and start clicking then get the house when the timer expired 5 minutes later.
Up to you what you want to prioritize. Rather than spend all your time placard camping, wait for Ishgard housing to open when your chances of getting a house will be dramatically improved. Get an apartment to sate your urge to decorate, there are some amazing things being done in the small spaces. Get a couple of flowerpots if you want to grow things. You won't be able to crossbreed but you can grow for yield/HQ plus you can grow the decorative flowers that can't be grown in the outdoor gardens.
Lottery system will lead us back to this point but instead of bots people will complain about RNG. If it has a chance to roll zero someone will.
No system outside instances expandable housing that has all the functions of a house gardening, work shop etc . . . Will ease the issues we are having. The issue is supply does not meet demand and people are upset. Your lottery system for some will just be as bad, I do not think many would be in favor of going from a system where they have a bit of control and influence over to one where they have no control over. Our current system blows, but SE has had years to fix it, and they have chosen not to. Maybe they are holding out for when they need an infusion of players idk, but people should not bash those willing to try and game a broken system.
I know this topic must've already been talked over since forever but I don't get why there still hasn't been any change to the System yet. I personally can't possibly hate the Random/Luck Factor for Plebs that don't own a Plot yet more than I already do. This whole system is absolutely unbalanced, which Square Enix is most likely aware of.
In my opinion it would be a much more favorable system if there was just some sort of waiting list concept.
A waiting list, in which you sign up for. Be it -any- plo when you don't have a house at all or specific districts/plots for relocating. I also think Relocating shouldn't have any advantages, a Plot is still a luxury in game in my opinion. It would probably even be the best to just distinguish FC Wards and Private Wards.
Of course that's not nearly realistic at all, at least not now, but that'd give everyone a fair chance to get a housing plot without being forced to camp Placards for hours only to have it stolen by Relocation or just damn luck when the timer runs out and someone else buys it. That'd also reduce this form of harassment to a minimum.
Now I obviously have no programming experience, but I think at least the Waiting list part should be easy enough to implement.
This past weekend there was one plot open because an FC member transferred to another server. The plot was camped almost immediately (the first one open in a week), then someone relocated. Myself and the 10-15 other people moved to that plot, which was relocated to. This happened three times, with all of us chasing the one open plot from which someone had moved...sometimes the relocation was quick other times it was after we had been at the new place for several hours; then we would get to start all over again at that plot...it was insane. Eventually I gave up, but when I left I know there were at least 15 people at that plot that had not opened up for purchase all night.
Does the hidden timer start all over when you have to go to another plot due to relocation? No one seemed to know.
I want a house as do the other 15 people who were chasing plots with me. There simply has to be a better way. I know everyone dumps on the lottery suggestion and I doubt anything will be done, especially considering the track record of fixing housing, but holy moly SE, please do something to give players relief. Yoshi P and the dev team have made a game we thoroughly enjoy. All but this one area is really bad and one that many players would want to get to participate in. I know there have been raids and the like bandied about as comparisons and people get upset that one should not expect to be able to participate in everything and to an extent I agree. If I'm not going to put forth the effort to gear up, then no I should not go on raids, but I know raiders who are not omni-crafters and I am...should I get a house and they shouldn't since I can craft most of the things I'd want to put in it? Of course not...however, this is content that the only pre-requisite is the gil to make the purchase so it should be for everyone who wants to participate, and right now it's not. Being able to decorate my own house is my raid. it's not for everyone, but obviously it is for quite a few people.
Those of us trying to get a house just want a reasonable chance to get our foot in the door without this insanity you seem to find as a reasonable solution to the problem on NA Datacenters. As far as making it a huge gil sink, I don't think at this point they should change prices. Why punish people just getting into the market? I know several who could not afford it if they were to make small houses 10 million gil or more. Many have already gotten their homes at the lesser prices and I', not sure a gil sink at this point will really matter much. It seems as though the ship has sailed on resolving the in game economy.
Each new free plot has its own hidden timer, it doesn't mean anything how long the players already waited on another plot. If someone relocates they waited for nothing and timer for the plot that is now free starts from zero.
If plots and house where really meant as Endgame Luxury (which they arent) i wouldnt have an issue paying 50m, 100m or even more for a small plot. But than i would expect in return that there would be no auto demo and my house and plot is still even if i take a break for a year or stuff like that.
With the current limited resources/plots current prices are way to cheap, even new players can save up enough money to afford a plot before they even reach the max lvl. Given how easy it is to make money in this game plot should generally be more expensiv, they should be some kind of Endgame content you need to work towards and takes a bit of time and effort like other stuff (raid gear for example). This may sound a bit arrogant but you shouldnt be able to get a plot as a fresh lvl 80 char, if you want the best gear you need to work for it and same should go for houses and plots.
Raising prices adding a lottery system will just shift the complaints. I think the vision between the devs and players differs greatly here. I do not think it was ever their intent for housing to be widely available, that is what apartments are for.
I can see the point with the RMT and Whale stuff, but i think even with it would lead to less people wanting a house than now. But of course thats just a thought, it would also require that you can only get 1 Personal and FC house per server and that all plots would be free when this changes would take place and that of course will not happen.^^
I suspected as much on the timer. Thanks for the confirmation.
A handful of greedy people should not be the cause to punish the actual hundreds of thousands. Escalation is not the key, just a better system. What that system is, people ague about for days. But escalation and culling interest is like devs shooting the playerbase in the heart and themselves in the foot.
I'm sure I'm going to catch heat for this but I'm genuinely curious what all the hype is for housing. Is it like a symbol of wealth and status? Is it just something to do when there is nothing else?
I get it 100% from an FC stand point due to its utility but from a personal stand point? I spent my last 2 weeks camping houses like everyone else. I wanted it bad just because everyone else did and I'm competitive by nature. After having spent maybe half a day playing around with it I dont really see the excitement or appeal. Yes it's cool and slightly beneficial from a convenience stand point but unless you are hardcore into custom decorating it seems over hyped.
What am I missing?
Then SE should take RMT more seriously.
Originally housing was way more expensive and FC only. It was meant to be an achievement. SE introduced player housing and made houses cheaper due to player complaints.
Am I a fan of limited housing?
No. Since I've played other MMORPGs which provide proper instanced housing. But we gotta work with what we have considering SE seems averse to changing the persistent ward system.
Demand for housing will drop if prices are higher and considering you can make over a ~1m from 100 crafting leves.
Beating a dead horse here but possible solutions:
1. Upgradeable apartments with balconies for gardening
2. Make the workshop individual content and link it to the GCs
3. Introduce premium wards alongside existing wards. Each plot in these premium wards will be in scenic locations, like Lav Beds waterfront medium 11/41.
Premium smalls to cost 50m
Mediums to cost 100m
Larges to cost 250m
Maybe even add a super mansion the size of Hakkue Manor for 500m.
Premium housing for gil will act as a significant gil sink. Additionally as people move into premium wards, plots in older areas will be freed up.
Most likely because they either haven't found a solution they feel will improve the system, or they're still working out the programming for that solution so it can be implemented.
No point in making a random change that won't improve things and may end up making them worse.
Not having definitive solutions doesn't mean they don't take RMT seriously. Every MMO has a problem with RMT. None have combated it successfully (not even WoW despite the WoW token - gold sellers simply adjusted their prices to remain competitive). It's hard to prove that RMT has occurred since the real money part of the transaction takes place through avenues that SE can't access. Banning an account simply because they think someone might have engaged in RMT without proof wouldn't go over well with the player base, especially if some of those banned had not engaged in RMT.
SE publicly stated on several occasions that the extremely high cost of housing when it was first introduced was one of their many attempts to bleed the enormous amounts of gil earned by legacy players in 1.x from the server economies. The prices were not so housing would be some sort of special achievement or wealth prestige content.
Demand for housing won't drop by increasing prices. Players will still want it because it's part of the game. All that would increase is the demand for RMT among those players who want a house but are too lazy to put in the effort to earn the gil or who are too new to the game to have had a chance to accumulate it.
Instanced housing is the only real solution. I suspect whatever aversion SE had to instanced housing has disappeared since the current ward system clearly isn't meeting player needs while instanced housing in other MMOs with it has met the needs of the players in those games. But other than we'll eventually be getting some sort of housing out of the Ishgard Restoration, we can't know what SE's plans for the future of housing are. Only they know.
Of course a better system where everyone can get house would be the best, but to be honest i dont think that will happen, at least not in this mmo. Thats why i think, given the current circumstences, housing should not be something thats so easy to get, you need to earn it like raid gear, rar mounts/pets or relic weapons for example.
I saw one last night up for sale in Goblet and thought I had more time to potentially get it, went to sleep for 7 hours woke up and someone had gotten it already, that's the nature of the beast, which I can't complain about. Doesn't change the fact, I feel certain things need to be changed. I'm gonna have to step up my game and check more often.
I just wished they'd go back to the old system where you could sell your house to someone and people didn't have to be at the mercy of this aggervaring new system, I got a few friends who are desperate for any size house and if I could I'd buy a small one or two and give it to them.
It sucked wen people would overcharge but at least you had a better shot at getting a house, plus I've seen shirogane small houses go for 3 mil back then, so not everyone was ripping peeps off.
May feel impossible but it is not, just takes time, patience, and maybe some moving around.
Depends on the player. I spend a lot of time at home. I craft a lot. I like Triple Triad, so I have a board that allows matches in my house. I live in the mist, and I have benches in the yard where I sit and watch the sunset sometimes. If I'm leveling a new job, or pulling out a job I haven't played on a while I use the practice dummy. I've crafted all the miniatures in the game and have them in a room with other trophies and items I've collected over the years. I get a lot of use out of my house.
On the other hand. I know plenty of people who don't care at all about housing. They grind raids, dungeons, etc, log out.
This is where SE is stuck. Probably half the players or more on average on a server do not have a house. Tens of thousands of people. How many care? If you gave the player population a survey and with list of things.
New Dungeons
New raids
Savage forms of raids
New gear
New story content
New Jobs
Job balancing
Expansions
Housing
Then told them to list these things in order of importance. Where is housing going to finish? Probably near the bottom. So if you're SE and you're deciding where to spend your resources, where are you going to put them? Probably not into revamping the housing system, or making an entirely new instanced system. Especially if demand isn't high in every region of the world where you have a player base. So they band-aid when they can. Add some wards when they can. They just keep kicking the can down the road.
