Do the math on how long 200 SR5C runs actually take, add in zero of the rare drop, where the hell do people get sayings like "just handed out"? This is the retarded type post i was talking about before.

Actually most of the people that I know who have legitimate concerns about FFXIV, and who are above the age of 18 with an IQ higher than mayonnaise are sticking around because they have high hopes for the future. This is all that matters currently.Quote:
It's amazing how "bad" the idea is yet these same people are still actively playing the game trying to obtain it. If the system was so messed up why keep pursuing it? Why not everyone stop and massively complain on the threads about it, like other subjects that made the game a horrible experience(this thread is far from massive...)? That goal of yours obviously has you addicted regardless of how annoying it is when you don't win. It's like those people that actively play the lottery for 60+ years of their life.
While you don't need gear to complete content in this game atm why wouldn't you strive to better your gear? I don't know about you and your people but we have higher standards than doing content looking like a pack of scrubs. If that works for you then more power to you brother but the laughter you hear drifting over your shoulders is aimed at you (*'-').Quote:
The fact is you don't need the gear what so ever. You can go into 2.0 never getting it and still be able to accomplish content without being gimped for it. Most MMOs balance their content around the "best" in game gear which is why it's so easy to obtain or more effort equals the closer you get to it. In FFXIV the gear needed to compete is thrown at you while the best is not. There is no tier style of gear like you would find in WoW/SWTOR to progress towards.
Nyzul Isle is a grind. Everything in an MMO is a grind to an extent the difference for some over others being the grind is more enjoyable. Nyzul was enjoyable because of it's random puzzleness, random rare spawn NMs and challenge to beat the clock with an epic battle every so often. But it was fun because it wasn't the same mindless drone run through each attempt.Quote:
It's also amazing how people agree with the Nyzul Isle style of doing things. Oh how I remember so many people calling that a grind also. I might be ignorant for having a sense of understanding, but I know any system they add to obtain gear will turn from a luck based grind to a progressively long grind. If they increase the drop rates other bs will just be thrown at your face and a different group of people will complain about that.
When did I ask for it to be handed out? You are seriously like 8 hours late the conversation.Quote:
So yes, it is handing out a [I WIN BUTTON] if they allow the gear that's better than the current content to just be handed out. They would then have to balance content around said easy obtainable gear.
I vote there should be a drop rate increase if you do SR5C.
(dunno if someone said that already)
What I do not understand is... why does everyone want the best possible in game equipment imaginable in such an easy/quick manner? If they demand to get everything within one month of patch (or sooner!), then this means its impossible to have any content that is MEANT to not be obtainable for a year or longer after release.
Is it that everyone wants content that can be fully consumed immediately and do NOT want content that takes a long time accummulate? Or does not everyone understand that some things are not meant to be achievable in any short amount of time?
The other thing I do not understand is: Why are people stressing themselves out to do 200+ runs of the same thing over and over and over to get one piece of equipment? That's... rather sad to be honest... The content is there to have fun. If you ENJOY doing things 200+ times, then great. If you do not, then stop. There is nothing that is being rewarded that you MUST have to enjoy the game.
(If you needed full darklight gear in order to get a Grand Company promotion, for example, then I would understand... but you don't.. it's just to show off that you have it).
Perspective, {Can I have it?} {Please}??
.
Don't throw mindless insults if you go on about something I never stated otherwise. Of course we all have high hopes for 2.0 and the other MMO communities think we're all insane for doing so.
So your pack of "IQ higher than mayonnaise" are worried about laughter from other people on a luck based gear drop?
"lololololol OMG LOOK GUYS THEY DON'T HAVE DL GEAR YET!!!! EVEN NUBBINS OVER THERE HAS IT!!! lololololol"
Even though nubbins suck at the game and you could still TANK, DD, and HEAL better than him. You could still demolish content with less wipes than him. You can still do and run everything smoother and better than him and his lucky shell yet you are sad because they have better luck? Seriously Richard_BG? I'm starting to doubt you have such a "IQ higher than mayonnaise" if you let pre-school bs upset you.
Ok and we currently don't have a "Nyzul Isle" style of content system yet. All MMOs have a luck factor for gear somewhere that is bs. Luck based system says hello. Hopefully later we will have better systems in place. That's what the thread should have be based on and not the QQ of not getting lucky on gear not needed.
That is what you call a general statement since it wasn't aimed at you directly. If it doesn't apply let it go.
there is a clear dps increase in DL geared players over non-DL geared players in a static fashion. Even if player A and player B play at the exact same level skill wise and player A has DL and player B has AF, player A will always come out on top no matter what you say. Same goes for group A and group B. If Group A is better geared than Group B, Group A will always clear more efficiently and faster than Group B if they play at the same skill level. This is not a hard concept.Quote:

My question to you is why you set your bar so low with a game that you obviously still play otherwise you would not be posting here? Masochist? Troll? General baddy? I'd really like to know the answer to that and then move on from our conversation before it sh*ts up this thread any further. This thread has great direction with a lot of awesome points being made yet you seem to just want to HURFFDURRHURFFDERP speak in it.
This DL gears are really hellish for the one who try to collect them.
One set might take you ages, and all sets might take your life..
When I calculate my play time vs the drop rate, I already stop thinking to collect them. RL worth more.
P.S. is there any person in this game who have obtain one full set yet? I wonder how much time did he spend for first set
If they are equal in skill of course then the stats come into play. The one with DL gear should come on top if not then stats are completely worthless.
How is understanding the bs that comes with a MMO "setting the bar so low"? There are luck based grinds and possibly longer progressive grinds in a MMO. We currently have a luck based one and the latter will probably be in the future. This thread should have been about ways to implement the other kind of grind without the QQ about the luck based one.
The thread was already trash as it's started and continued with QQ with a few decent posts that should have probably been the OP in the first place.
You state "you seem to just want to HURFFDURRHURFFDERP speak in it." as if I can not have an opinion on this "Exclusively high class" thread. It is interesting because regardless of the thread I post in I always just give my opinion on the matter and drop it unless someone like you decides to reply and sh*t all over my posted opinion.
That was my first post. If you would have let me state my opinion and leave quietly, I wouldn't feel the need to "HURFFDURRHURFFDERP" and stand by my opinion.
lmao you are truly a funny guy Richard_BG. Lashing out with insults and throwing in your own bs in the mix. It's barbaric posts like yours that brings down the credibility of what you stand behind. Less people like you and more mature posters would do a thread some great justice.
If this thread was about less QQ and more ideas about better systems I would probably be behind it depending on what is proposed.
This will be my last post on the subject.
So basically:
Adventurer A: My sword is bigger than your sword!
Adventurer B: Yeah, but.. I still win my battles... and 1000 other battles while you were getting your sword....
Adventurer A: My sword is bigger than your sword!
Adventurer B: Yeah... i'll.. umm.. leave you alone to play with your sword now....
Sure, it may be bigger, it may be flashier, but it is more than you need.
When it means you can one shot kill Ifrit, or Chimera, or what not... then we'll talk....
We're happy with the drop rates.. lost count of total pieces in LS (I'm guessing ~30, with 7 bodies; 2 corselet, 1 cowl, 3 cuirass, 1 heavy). We run every damn day though.
actually when you boil it down its more about effectiveness and efficiency than any sort of d*ck waggling. To some top tier linkshells doing things efficient and speedily is one of the most rewarding things they have. If you don't understand why that is it's ok, not every mmo player does.
It's Ifrit all over again.
I would say rebuilding a game from, essentially, the ground up would be a pretty significant reason. Once 2.0 hits you're right, they won't have a reason anymore. However up until now they've been putting out some pretty ridiculous fixes and changes to the core systems of the game. That means that they don't have as many people working on content as they could as they're split between 1.X fixes, 1.X content and 2.0. I get what you're saying but you also have to understand the context under which these patches are created.
I don't have a problem with the drop rate. I don't have a problem with doing the same dungeon over and over. If it's becoming boring for you then you can set yourselves your own challenges. Try and shave a little off your time each run, or try it with different strategies or as a different class to your usual one. Spend time teaching people new to the dungeon how to do it. The drops will come when they come. I enjoy playing the game, thats my drop.
If there is a problem with the droprate, it's the randomness that is frustrating. Some see 3-4 drops of DL on a run, others see not a single drop on 100+ runs.
Make droprates low but more consistent. For example: have hidden counter of the numbers of wins, (and chest counts), and have a guaranteed drop every so much runs, with a very low random droprate on top of that. Just so that the average droprate stays the say, but the consistency of the drop rates is higher.
If you do 300 speed runs, I think you deserve a fullset. That is my opinion at least. You and the rest of your party both.
I've done over 100 5 chest runs and have 0 DL to show for it. Saw 5 pieces drop out of 500+ chests and lot 1 2 5 6 10.
Basically SE knows their raids suck and want you to GTFO ASAP, which is why they made speed run in the first place.
Anyway who cares about darklight when D3 is coming out in a month~
This is SE's way of saying, "how do you like the primal drop rates now bitch"
1.22 will have AF gear upgrade right? be careful if they are come out better than DL!!
(I doubt it, but it is still possible, seeing how item in this game is planed to be replaced every 3 months)
Even if this 3 months 1.22 won't have anything to beat it, 2.0 which is coming in around 6 months+ will have R60 R70 gears that beat this to the ground. and These set probably become... seal exchange. Hope you grind this with awareness of the time it cost. and not complain about losing 400 hours of your golden time during young to it later.
I had fun beat it first time, and I enjoy doing it with LS helping people who want it. But even now DL is a bit underwhelming. Eye patch, heavy gauntlet, and both DD body are pretty much best pieces you can have while mage glove, boots and heavy armor are good situational, others are just easily replaceable.
Darklight usually is awful in terms of drop rate, but last night it was great.
Got BRD/WHM/BLM darklight boots and darklight helm for LS.
Then in a static group I run with filled with mixed players of different linkshells we got Heavy Darklight Body for our tank. I think it'll be a few days til any of us sees another piece. Except those awful Aurum Vale gauntlets. Ugh.
The best part about it.. is those elitist who brag about their DL gear.. which I'm sure they've spent days trying to get, there's one specific character in my server who doesn't realize the jakes on him, especially his LS members who are just his peons.
P.S. if you're reading this.. stop stealing my verbiage and be original, poser. :D
I think we have more Dark light pieces than all the NA linkshells combined on our server, funny man. @28 atm.
Me personally, I'd rather a 40 hour quest that rewards you with a piece of Darklight armor, then doing the same raid over and over for a random drop.
So even if I had to spend 160 hours to get a complete set, I'd take that over the repetition/random system we have now.
wah. i can't get the best armor currently in the game in two weeks, wah.
Sorry, my suggesting was aimed at how to make the process more enjoyable.
And I guess I should put it in perspective, 160 hours is over 2 months of play time for myself.
I'm sure it would rage most players, but I wouldn't even mind if it was possible(0.03%) to discover rare loot while fishing.
Games with higher lock-out timers, just to answer your question.
