I feel like the amount of players should be downsized from 72s to 48s on this map due to its small size but overall a very enjoyable mode with a lot of action
actualy do we need to have a mess ? how its enjoyable.
its more suitable for 48 players or even 24, i think this map would be perfection if not with 72 players also it would pop easier with less players.
SE i know the population of japanese server is higher but think about euro and na, 72 players is just too much for his community anyway.

I am finding that if I am not in a pre made party I have an extremely hard time doing anything in front line right now. it feels extremely imbalanced for solo players. the queue times alone are astronomical for only Maelstrom and it seems all the PvP players are in maelstrom so all the non pvp players who want to get into pvp and are solo get thrusted into groups with the same people and lose constantly. I feel that in the past there was more balance among the pvp groups but now it feels like all of the pvp players are only on one team. I also feel that as a DPS I dont do as much damage as I would want to. the tanks and healers alone are over powered and my attacks do little to no damage.
1) Solo queue literally has nothing to do with it. I solo queue all the time, because premades are forced into Freelancer queue anyway it rarely matters and they don't really end up on Maelstrom a lot because it's an overpopulated GC.
2) Then queue Freelancer. That's why it's there.
3) This perceptions of Maelstrom being some kind of god tier GC (it isn't by the way) has long since been a meme, because all the bad players join Maelstrom thinking it's the best. It isn't anymore. It hasn't been for two expansions.
4) "All the PvP players are only on one team" checking the scoreboard after pretty much every battle since the premade change tells me otherwise.
all the matches I keep going into now is just "im here for exp" and then dont even try to capture the nodes they just want to pvp. it sucks because premades get put into other teams when I go freelancer and I always get stuck with an under performing team it feels like.
You do realise the ladder goes off your actual GC and not what you play as? So if you freelance, you could have 5 out of 20 wins in a week be as Maelstrom and the rest as flames/adder, but ultimately, you will still ladder as Maelstrom.
This is exactly how people fall into the trap of changing their GC to Mael expecting brighter days btw lmao.
I very clearly understand how wins and achievements work. This thread or another thread I questioned how someone could not know how they work.
Trust me not very many of those are freelancing. The few Mael in parties say they just freelance so they get better pops. Just the other day I had the joy of 11 straight losses to Maelstrom. Not even close. The score will be close and then they will farm several hundred points in kills. Several of those games and a lot of games since battle high change they have 15+ kills by multiple players. If they get the privilege of a Flames team with a few healers I have seen matches with 6 players 20+ kills. Before the new mode I have seen Adders and Flames both finish Seal Rock with 0 points.
I leveled Adders up to rank 50 on Aether when seal rock launched. They lost a lot. It was never this bad. The games aren't competitive. I never used to mind because when Mael was in 24s they were garbage. I don't remember them winning any of the 24s I was in on off hours. But once it gets to 72s the balance completely shifts. You can believe I am making it up and that those people are winning freelance. But the people on the Data center know what the outcomes are like. On day 2 ques were up to 30 mins just before prime time already.
The way I also see it is look at your queue times. Mael on Crystal is generally a 30 min queue, however Freelancing usually cuts the queue down to 2-5 min in prime time. If a match takes around 12 min in most cases you could fit in two matches during that time. Double the chances you can win as a FL.
The only problem PVP has is this awful idea that Mael always wins. A color does not determine who wins, player skill decides that. If people are expecting easy rides on Mael, I'm sorry to say if you don't put in the actual effort you will cost your damn team. Meanwhile a smart team on the others will pinch and be annoying as possible, why I've seen Adders take the win multiple times.
In general from my experience Mael has not been doing so hot with the new map at least on Primal and Aether. Going from general opinions, the Adders are killing it. Maelstrom is guilty of excessive deliberation and passivity in the past which is definitely not helpful in this very action-packed map.
On Aether its Flames who dominates, they have a majority of the GC sync groups. Followed by Adders who has the same GC Sync group that everyone was bitching about. Mael is usually forgotten. They either are used as fodder to get BF trains going or are completely ignored and end up winning by passively capping Ovoo.
It is simple.
Maelstrom has more PvE players therefore a Hive mind.
They have less lonewolves and basically move around as a major zerging group.
When it comes to the new map in which is much smaller and forced other GC moved as a group too; Maelstrom lost their advantages because other two GCs have more PvP oriented players (those lonewolves forced to stay in group)
Maelstrom will be the punch bag in this new mode
I am glad you like it; unfortunately I don't
I would rather to play Fallout 76 in which a game that is already in a dumpster fire; but it is more enjoyable than this mode
To me, this mode is simply a mind-numbing care bear mode where players don't need to think and just follow the crowd.
It is more fun and challenge to farm those lvl 87 or 120 Ghouls that could 2 shot my lvl 20 characters at Whitespring Glof Club than play this mode.
Don't get me wrong.
I am not saying that there shouldn't be a mode like this one for someone those who in need.
If it is a mode that i am not interesting with (Seal Rock for example) I would just play less than complaining here.
What triggered me is that they disabled other 3 modes in roulette that pretty much forced me to play this mode
Especially when they get rid of 24 men and pretty much killed Secure and Shattered.
Frontline is Garbanzo PVP and players abusing the system by doing solo Q as a certain Grand Company on EU its Adders so they get into the same game then just go ham on a team get 10 ppl with battle high nothing can stop them, team usually consist with Ninjas because they are OP and a few healers on top of that.
It's really shitty for ppl who want to try get the mount achievment and have some actuall fun even matches while at it.
Feast at least had some kind invidual skill involved in it but they seem to wanna focus on Frontlines instead.
a Simple Hotfix to the Grand Company abuse would be to set everyone as freelancer no matter what Grand Company you are in at least that would make match making abit more randomized.
Mmm, I don't think so. (Primal) Mael just has recently been overwhelmed by bandwagoners who put in minimal effort and were hoping to snag "easy" wins from the overused preconception of "Mael always wins." You get enough of these people bunched on one team at a time and what you end up with is a group who can neither adapt to shifting objectives nor properly focus down the correct targets together (and hence never kill anything/feed). It was a problem plaguing Flames and it is gradually carrying over into Maelstrom as these players are all congregating from Flames onto their perceived "strongest" GC. Honestly, if you're one of these people wandering between GCs and looking for more consistent wins, you're best off joining Adders.
It really just boils down to what kind of people are queueing. But at it's worst Mael behaves exactly opposite to what you described. The only thing "hive mind" about them would be over half the team chasing the losing team to the middle of nowhere just because it's the closest thing to them. You say there's less lonewolves but it's a struggle to get people to even focus on a single objective so they end up as free points/battle high to the other teams scattered all over the map. If by "lonewolves" you meant people that know how to actually use their whole PvP kit to secure kills/stay alive, then yeah, no argument there, but again that's due to the influx of low-effort players hoping to secure wins just by being another face in the crowd.
Looks like kills will be nerfed, not sure how much in 5.18. Ques are going to be even worse though. They releases this new map and feast season almost on top of each other.
