If the game environment is unpleasant, it hurts their bottom line. What matters to SE is dollars, not whether or not you feel stifled.
You haven't ruffled my feathers at all. Read my posts in a monotone if you must.

The flip side of that coin is that too much censorship can also lead to an unpleasant game environment, which could also lead to people leaving the game and therefor negatively impacting the SE wallet. I am not saying you are wrong necessarily, I'm saying that too much in either direction is a bad thing; and that too much censorship tends to be a really bad thing.
My mistake then.
Sure, but I've already addressed that. There's no evidence of "too much" outside of the forums, which naturally lend themselves to magnifying negativity. The in-game experience is what matters and I see little evidence that the TOS is having any discernible negative impact on that. The overall nature and quality of the chat isn't drastically different from any other game I've played, except as a consequence of how chat channels are structured, and some of those games are practically free-for-alls for one reason or another.
Which is bad reasoning on your part. As I already explained, the forums naturally lend themselves to magnifying negativity. You also only get one carefully-presented side. Astonishingly, people tend to feel their actions were justified and frequently unabashedly lie even when they know they were in the wrong.
I think you miss the point.
Some of us have already seen first hand how ridiculously easily you can get in trouble here.
As i said earlier, i already got a warning for the term "trash tier" cause it offended a special snowflake.
In any other game if someone reported someone over that the GM's would roll on the floor laughing at how touchy the said person is.
Report abuse/giving in to whiners is a problem in this game no matter how much some people want to decline that.
The question is if SE gonna notice that before or later the damage is done to the games reputation.
It's also ridiculously easy not to get in trouble.
Don't immediately call other players "trash tier", "idiots", tell them they suck or any of the other insults that you and others throw around happily. In other words, be a decent human being. That's all you have to do and there are still people up in arms about having to behave.
It's nothing about being touchy. Some players seem to feel they have a right to insult others because it's the victims responsibility to grow a thicker skin so therefore the fault must lie with them. It's not ok to be rude. In the real world there would be consequences.
I'm glad Enix has decided they don't need the rude players. It's hilarious that you feel that would damage their reputation. Like people would comment on the game "ew ff14? that's the game where you can't even be a huge jerk, don't even bother, WoW is way better". As if games like WoW don't have a bad reputation because they're toxic.
well, this went downhill pretty fast.
Saintly, coming across as provocative is not really helping your point anymore.
The differences are much bigger than that, and that is an experience on a personal level.
Though it is true that death in non-end content is less punishing (though on the overworld it is pretty punishing), wich makes players less adamant about a mistake.
Yep, I heard people are going to housing section to try to annoy people into starting fights in order to report them and try to make them lose their housing.
lucky I don't own housing but I do have a apt and have noticed wander icons on people in the housing area's from different servers roaming around.
so maybe some truth to that shout I seen.
Also yes people get very hurt now days they were not brought up like 80's and 90's we were told words didn't hurt to be tough there were no laws in place when you got your spanking and took it.
these days, no spankings- set their kids in front of pc or a cell phone let that raise them nobody tells them to ignore harsh words and they are coddled till the age of 18 its why people are sensitive now days.
Just because I have a different opinion to your own, does not mean I am unreasonable or bad at reasoning. Just because you think the forums lend themselves to magnifying negativity does not mean we can discount people's opinions; also does not mean that it's always an isolated instance as you suggested in one of your earlier posts in this thread. Just because you think someone is lying does not mean they are lying, nor does it mean they are lying unabashedly and despite the actual truth.
For some reason, and I'm trying to only go by what you're posting in this thread, it seems you have taken the stance that your truth is the only truth. What I see, however, is that you are mixing up opinion with truth. Just because you think the forums are only showing bad and rare of examples of an issue within the game, doesn't necessarily mean that is the objective truth. You keep citing yourself, as if you are some absolute authority on this issue; you are not.
I hate this immensely. I'll go to a hub city and ask a question and not one person out of 100 even bothers giving a "Sorry, I don't know." response if I get an answer at all.
And I agree. It's sad seeing Shadowbringers areas empty already when the expac just dropped. I feel like ARR areas are more active.
WoW's world chat?
You mean political propaganda and everyone trying to offend everyone?
My problem is, in City Chat, it's like your barging in on a private conversation like at a party.
However, in a World Chat-type environment, it feels more like you're part of the conversation even if you're not saying anything. So dropping in a comment isn't considered so rude.
I don't harbour any notion that a world chat system is forthcoming. It just isn't FF14's culture.
I'll just have to learn to either live with it or not. It does keep me from playing more often, though.
my first and main reason why i prefer FF14 is because i dont like wow cartoony graphic, maybe i came from ragnarok online and lineage era so FF14 is far more pleasing for my eyes.
Accepting a contract is one thing. In this case here, the contract has been altered and the actual wording is absurdly vague to the point that "unilaterally dismissing a players opinion" is a bannable offense..
Sorry but no matter how much character you have, you currently cannot abide by the rules SE has set because essentially: they are insufficiently defined.
They are worded as they are so SE can ban anyone for whatever they want whenever they want, all on any given GM/Mod whim. There is no appeal system either. No matter what, they are always right.
14 is snowflakeville, where taking measures to actively improve your gameplay is bannable, and you're actively rewarded for not saying anything in chat.
WoW is loud, vocal, and people hold you to a significantly higher standard while making sure you know exactly what standard you're being held to in less than cordial ways.
I've never been suspended from Blizzard or Sonys forums for quoting someone, but I have here.
These seems to be an ongoing thing of trying to push the idea that people are getting banned/suspended for on good reason. The only people I ever see using phrases like snowflake are bullies who like to be rude and unpleasant to people but then get really upset when they are called out on it.
You run 0 risk, of anything, saying nothing or next to nothing in game and handling all your communication in discord.Quote:
What are you talking about? How are you rewarded for not saying anything in chat?
~4 months ago, I figured I'd see what the tangible difference was between actively communicating in roulettes, raids and open world activities and not saying more than hi, in terms of what you can accomplish.
Turns out, its pretty much 0, since I have no desire to pug savage content and statics generally use voice comms.
In a game where a not-insubstantial amount of the playerbase is gifted with thinner than normal skin about anything from emotes to tips on how to play their class ("You dont need to cast fire 2 on single target boss fights at level 70" as an example), its actively worse to speak in chat than it is to not.
Good, at least more people here knows the meaning of word of “Respect”. Less type of people that smells like they never brush teeth for
Months every time they talks in WoW
Seeing some of the “why can’t I be a hate filled jerk, it’s so unfair that they will ban you for anything [hate filled] now” responses in here...
Every time I see people complain about “snowflakes” I am reminded of the same sorts in RL who make that complaint after getting caught in some racist or sexist rant, and calling others snowflakes is usually part of them complaining about nobody liking them anymore after they spread hate or anger all around the place...
If you think they will ban “anything “... buy a mirror.
Must be doing something against the license agreement to get "tattled" on, as you so call it. I think you exaggerate just a bit on when and why people report. Remember this is FFXIV not WoW. if you want to be obnoxious and bully go back to WoW, because in this game you're made responsible for your actions if that's what your main complaint is. If you expect people to let you disrupt their game play and make it an unpleasant experience then you better think twice. Nothing wrong in that what-so-ever. Act with some maturity and you'll be just fine in FFXIV.
This thread is so bizarre. If you're honestly so afraid that anything you say will get you banned if you say it in chat, maybe re-evaluate how you communicate with others? I've been playing this game for 4 years, given plenty of advice and criticism -which I'll note was sometimes not nice because I'm human and get frustrated, but I've never received so much as a warning or even a clapback from the person I was talking to. Mostly people either take my advice or ignore it, in which case I drop it and just hope we can finish the duty.
The only way I can see getting reported is if you're making pointed criticisms about things the person can't fix at the moment (buying new gear, getting a stronger connection, rebuilding rotations from the bottom up etc. aren't things you can just do real quick in 30s in an instance) and/or getting personal, which you shouldn't really be doing in the first place.
Also "People are such snowflakes now!" = "These people have no right to get upset when I verbally abuse them!"
