lynch mob in British
(lɪntʃ mɒb)
noun
1. a group of people who condemn and punish a person without a fair trial
He claimed that they had been the victims of a racist lynch mob.
2. a group of people who criticize someone severely and try to bring about the person's downfall
Something approaching a lynch mob has been gathering against the Chancellor for even daring to consider higher interest rates.
It is in the public interest that sleaze is exposed. But it's time to call off the lynch mob.
Okay I think the idea is bad and not worth implementing but obviously they didn't mean lynch mob as a literal mob of people literally lynching them. It's a figure of speech.
Not here to bash, but, an idea: if people are still replying to the original post without seeing the replies where you came to a different point of view (and let's be fair, at nearly 10 pages in, it's easy to see how people might not have read that deep to see that)...perhaps a quick edit to the original post updating with such might be in line. Hope that helps. :)
Wasn't this fairly common for BLMs during HW because playing without Fire IV was just blasphemy?
That is a hard no from me boss. There are literally hundred of thousands of reasons why someone could need to depart from a dungeon/trial/raid/any other content. You have no way of knowing why they left. You can only assume they left once they hit 80.
What you are suggesting would do far more harm then good if implemented.
I've been guilty of this.
I hit 80 after first boss, why should i stay for no more reward? What if they offer a small bit of tomestone if you hit 80 during the dungeon?
I Don't feel like sticking another 15-20 minutes in a dungeon with no reward at the end. Replacements are usually really quick to get anyways.
IMO, i'd rather leave and get a 30 minute penalty doing something else that i wanted to do than drag along the rest of the dungeon for no reason.
I can do some hunts, grind fates on another job for a bit, go poop, work on my crafters
I dont mean to be negative or anything, I honestly do not see any benefit to staying for the rest of the dungeon, is there something I am missing?
exp penalty, imo, no.
but the system and design is rather bad.
Id imagine giving them a sort of bonus in place of exp, such as tomes or something.
(imo the X9 leveling dungeon should have been the final story dungeon, giving roughly similar amounts of tomes as the actual X0 dungeon, but thats a different argument)
This would be a bad idea. Because...
A: sometimes real life happens and you need to step away.
and
B: Sometimes an ice mage, a smn who wont dot, a brd who wont sing, anyone who won't aoe, etc happens
and heaven's forbid you say anything about anyone's playstyle, even if your intention is solely one of trying to help that person better their rotation and become a better player, because you may get a ban for harassment thanks to the people who cant handle something as small asking why no aoes or someone having to leave a dungeon mid way through.
Sometimes its easier to take the 30 minute hit than carry a troll or someone who refuses to play better because they would rather hit 2 than 3 or just refuse to hit 4 at all.
