I wasn't in a rush, I completed the MSQ in 2 days. I watched the cutscenes and know and enjoy the story. If I was here only for the story, I would be upset that there isn't more of it. I've been playing this game for nearly 3 weeks and only 2 days out of the 17 days I've played thusfar were in the MSQ. So far the MSQ has only comprised of a little less than 10% of my playtime. The other 90% has been in dungeons. I can't speak for everyone. But I really like FFXIV dungeons. They are literally the best in the MMO genre. WoW doesn't have the varied mechanics and diversity. ESO is pretty but you simply use a 4 button rotation and randomly dodge or block mechanics.
Who said anything about rushing to endgame?
The problem is that approximately the same amount of skills that used to be spread around 50 levels are now spread around 80 levels.
Getting skills over time as we level up is fine, but it can be done at a faster pace then we are getting them now.
Having to wait until level 26 for a basic 1-2-3 rotation instead of just 1-2 (as is the case for some classes) isn't going to teach me anything more useful than if I had got the 1-2-3 rotation at level 15, just in time for the first dungeon. Just as an example.
For some jobs it used to be the case (not sure of the current state) that their whole rotation changed at level cap. Getting a whole new rotation to use at level cap means that all the time spent learning rotations while leveling was pretty much wasted time.
Ahh, yes, the "If its broke, why bother fixing it" approach.
I dont subscribe to that one.
Its fine, you wont really learn anything about an actual rotation until mid 50's or 60 at this point.Quote:

You can 1 button dark knights until mid 60's if you want, and you're still hardcasting heals most of the time as a healer until about then too.
My friends and I (along with other random people from other mmos) have stated this. There's too many restrictions now forced on you because of "lore" and being forced to read the story. People that want to read the lore will, people that don't want to simply won't. It's a ton of people in this game right now that don't have the slightest clue what's going on lore wise and they're okay with that.
Why force lore on people?
People can ignore lore all they want, and avoid reading any and all dialogue if they want. Nobody disputes that.
The game should not be changed to accomodate those people though. No game can make everybody happy, and it is madness to try. As it is FFXIV is a story-heavy game with the main story very central to everything. People can dislike that if they want, but that is no reason to change how the game works.
For those people who really don't care at all for the story - either they find the rest of the game fun enough to stay here anyway, or they are perfectly welcome to find some other game that does suit their tastes.
At the time of playing for the first time I didn't have any issues with the game play. We all probably didn't like the abundance of fetch quests in ARR but apart from tweaking these quests by removing some of the filler quests the only other thing that would be nice if to have the 1-2-3 combo as early as Satasha. Feels bad only having a 2 hit combo when you are level synced and have to run old content.
From my experience with new players or people who've gotten a recommendation to pick up the game... it feels like it's hit or miss. Sometimes I get people telling me "oh man yeah it's a blast! I'm at Lvl 28 and can't wait to see what the game has in store!" and sometimes I get "yeah, I'm almost Lvl 35 and it feels like such a drag..."
I think there's definitely an element of this being a "fresh" genre to a lot of people who've never ever played an MMO, so they come in, wide-eyed and willing to immerse themselves in the world. These are the folks who get really hyped when they get their first chocobo. Others aren't exactly dazzled and are quick to point out many things which they find are dragging their experience down, many of which are in the OP.
This comment's just a bit of a tangent, but I do agree with the OP. As the game moves forward, it's entirely possible that the tail end of things is affected negatively. SE really needs to take this into consideration.
its bad for new players, and its even worse for max level players, doing low level contents with 3 skills to use is really sleepy.
I don't understand why they can't change it, especially since it doesn't effect any other player. They changed raids to make them easier because people complained that they wanted the story in Coil but didn't actually want to do Coil.
They changed skills and how classes work (toggling buffs) because people complained about other people forgetting to put their stances back on when dying.
They changed cool downs to where they reset upon wipe.
They gave echo to raids because of people complaining about others still not being able to clear old content with higher level gear.
They've changed so much to accommodate people, even making the game way easier, yet when people don't want the story to be mandatory that's a problem? Where is the logic in that? It literally effects no one else.
SpeedRunner42069 Is not going to know the lore if they don't want to, regardless of if it's forced or not. Plus it not being mandatory, who does that affect? You still get to do your quests. While SpeedRunner42069 and his crew gets to make it to end game and not drop the game in the first week.
ALL MMORPGS ARE LORE HEAVY. I really wish people would stop trying to bring that up as if it's a point. There is absolutely no mmorpg out on the market that doesn't have important lore. That doesn't have reasons for why factions are at war, for why you're entering x dungeon and for why you're doing everything you're doing. A lot of mmorpgs even have hidden lore that you can go out and learn more about through books and Easter eggs, all of it essential and important to the story. All of it is optional.
