I openly admit that i don't want my character wiped either. i was thinking as for when 2.0 comes out attracting new players (but SE knows that they are taking care of current players first then trying to get new ones).

We don't need a character wipe. With v2.0 add tons of 1-49 quests and stuff to do, and give R50's HARD, LONG instances that will keep us busy for awhile. 2-5 months later, raise the cap. The only advantage older players would have is money.
I do play, i do understand the game and the release notes and i enjoy some aspects of the game. I love this game I want it to be the game that drives others to put thought and detail in to their games too.
5 materia was an example i know that you cant have 5 atm, and yes its incredible tough to even get 2 or 3 but when you do it can be better then anything i have seen so far, i have seen some stats for af gear but have not seen stats on the darklight gear yet. i was just tossing the idea that materia be more like Intelligence Materia I gives +1 INT and Intelligence Materia II gives +2 INT makes it easier to stack. Or even the materia I gives +1 or +2.
Good post I too am worried about many factors brought up here. Everyone seems to come back for patches, do them and quit again. Usually because they are rank 50 everything or close to. 2.0 Will offer much more to the table but i foresee it being another "Patch and leave" because those lovely lv 1-49 quests mentioned wont do anyone like me or the majority of the players who are also r50 all DoW/W any good. I keep myself busy but I contemplate restarting at 2.0 so I can fully enjoy it, not be bored of it a month in.
I'm talking about pre-bs jobs lol -the original "16" or however many it was, when speciality jobs were first introduced. DNC/NIN, though, is a perfect example of what I was talking about. It was one of the *many jobs that exploited the sub job system.
Although, again, that shouldn't deter SE from trying to improve upon a similar system, instead of these shi%%y preconceived ideas of what classes/jobs can and/or should be combined with one another. It's eliminating all hope for character uniqueness.
If changes aren't made, the only thing that'll separate "your" ARC from anyone else's ARC is going to be the color you choose for your outfit.
