I'm a WHM main. I'm a bit dissapointed there's going to be no healer... But I'm super hyped for dancer. It looks like it'll be really cool looking and fun to play, and I'm super excited to see the different kinds of throwing weapons they get.

I can't way to be a Dancing Chocobo on the battlefield, as well as following too close to friends to make them uncomfortable, again.
I can't be more pleased.
Me before NA fanfest: I wish they add dancer buffing party while dancing is such a cool concept but maybe it will be a healer
My ire isn't directed at dancer existing. I think its a cool job and Ill probably play it just because if I /do/ dps, I prefer to be a caster or ranged over melee. That said...there should have been a healer. The 'we are going to work on balance' rings pretty hollow when we heard the same thing at the start of SB and there hasn't been a lot of indication that they made any real strides to do that. As a WHM I'm even more ticked and left calculating the odds of being shafted with inferior spells and mechanics, reused animations, and if I do get something nice, how likely it is that it'll be given to the other two healers as well only with prettier spell effects. SHRUG. Long story short I think they set themselves up for failure. Dancer may go over well but they'd have to pull off a magic trick of epic proportions to satisfy the healer player base now. Perfect new spells that are useful and unique to each job rather than carbon copies, a revamp of useless mechanics and spells like the lily system, new animations and spell effects that feel good to use etc. Somehow I'm skeptical that is doable. They've admitted that adding new tanks and healers doesn't often convert dps players to using them for very long but that makes it even more essential that they hang on to the healer and tank players they have. I don't get a sense they're doing that and I imagine we'll see people jump ship if they don't come out of the gate strong for the role.
I know that over the years on these forums, when I posted in a "What Job Do You Want" type of thread, I normally listed that for a healer, I wanted Dancer. Part of the reason was that I did enjoy it in XI, however, I was more interested in using a non-caster healer. I'm not sure of how it would work in XIV, but I was excited to see it at least attempted. I would have certainly have given it a try, and who knows, if I had fun I would have returned to being healer main in a FF MMORPG.
Though with that said, I have settled in as a Bard main in XIV. And it has been mostly fun being a ranged DD, minus those pesky Heavensward years. Having Dancer prance onto the stage of XIV as a ranged DD suits me well, as it is a role I enjoy. I'll definitely give it a try, and who knows, if I enjoy it, I may have a new main. If nothing else, if it shares the same type of gear as Bard, I can save some inventory spaces. I am going to try keep my expectations in check though given how Machinist has turned out.
I do share, however, the sentiment that it has been too long since healers have had a new job to play with. And though it suits me more to have Dancer as a ranged DD, I do feel for the healers that just want a new way to experience their favorite role.
As a healer myself, dancer did not sound super appealing so I dont care that it is a dps. Need to see the skills to decide if it will be my ranged dps of choice instead of bard.
I mean honestly? I'm not sure why everyone's so upset, dancer has historically been a DPS/Support job, it was sliiightly obvious this would end like this?
Dancer Ronso, nuff said~
I mean, i've seen pictures. it looks okay, but it seems like one of those classes that only looks right on female charactors.
I am happy that it's a DPS, but I do want to see how it plays. The basic concept of a battle dancer intrigues me, so it's inevitable that its gameplay design will not click with my limited brain. That's usually how it goes with me and MMO jobs. LOL
If they made dancer a healer, one of the healer sets would be influenced aesthetically in the direction of the dancer artifact gear ... and I strongly dislike it. So as a healer main I'm glad Dancer is not a healer. Still want another healer though.
AST is my main since HW release and through out SB
I am quite glad dancer turn out not being a healer role
1. I never want it to be healer role, it always feel more buff and debuff class for me
2. I might be uncreative, but I fail to see what possible healer SE could come up with when WHM is the traditional big hit big heal, SCH being the dmg mitigated and AST being the joke between those two
Do I want to see a new healer job, of coz I do. Yet, I just feel dancer fit the buff/debuff DPS class more, and I would want to see a more unique healer than is not carbon copy of what we have
All I want in life is for SE to give us the ability to launch glass potion bottles at our allies to heal them. Sure there might be the issue of glass shrapnel, but hey that's what they get for not wanting to take their medicine. Is that so much to ask?

Well that can be fixed with the Chem launcher assuming the container for the chemicals doesn't leave any sharp objects when the container explodes....

Oh and some DPS skill such as the ability to set enemies on fire with a Incendiary round.

FFXI made it work just fine and XIV can as well. Dancing outfits can be tweaked to suit either gender and still get across the same feel and flavor.
I find it strange that people can't believe that players might be both pleased dancer is a ranged dps AND annoyed that healer was over looked for new toys yet again, with the same excuse that was given in SB.
Making DNC the dps was the right choice.
Because as dps I can choose from ranged or melee, magical or physical, or a combination of both, for a total of only 10 different choices I can do. And frankly, if I want play Physical Ranged DPS, I only had two options, so a third one makes things right.
I'm super ultra mega excited about dancer! Like most people I was fully convinced it would be a healer, which I didn't mind because I do heal, but when I saw the reveal video and the way she was throwing those chakrams, it clicked almost instantly that it would be a ranged dps before it even finished. As a bard main this is extremely exciting -- I'm interested in seeing how dancer stands up to bard and all the ways they are different and the same and if I prefer one over the other.
I tried my hardest to like machinist but it's like... that and I only really enjoy playing it in pvp so it'll be nice to have that second option not being machinist anymore, that's for sure.
This is a real hot take considering we've seen somewhere between 3 to 5 moves utterly divorced from a real fight. I am relatively pleased dnc is a ranged dps though. I would have preferred if it was a melee healer, but I definitely am happier to get a ranged dps over a more standard healer.
pfft Salt Mage has been around since 3.X when AST got the Balance buff
Anyways, I'm glad we got Dancer, and it doesn't bother me that it is DPS. I'm actually wondering if it will play kind of like a ranged Ninja, and we'll have to do some DDR to get off dances (like NIN has their Mudra) to buff the party.
I am disapointed that I'm going to have to go at least 6 years without a new healing class to play, but that's not related to Dancer existing and being DPS.
Dancer looks great. And while I would have preferred a new healer, a new physical ranged was next on the list IMO. So I'm a bit torn. Hopefully 6.0 brings a new healer.
I’m part of the camp that’s more disappointed about the lacknof a new healer than dancer being DPS. See if Dancer can take Bard’s spot on my roster or not... it’ll probably beat Machinist with no issues tho, hate playing it.
Really hoping we get an FFXIV unique healer now tho.
