Saronia is quite active server imo. always people running around:) I personally dont post often on forums cause its usually a whinefest about every little detail that happens.

In game I'm too busy with doing leves so I don't really pay attention to what's going on with the others.

No most Saronians are not a bunch of whiners! I really hope the average age of Lindblum is higher than 16yrs.

I love my server and the ppl on it. We have a lot have great linkshells with great Leaders. Its pretty drama-free server I'm hoping we can all keep it that way with the merger. And btw I think the new server name is FANTASTIC! As well as all the others. Great job SE!

As for server state, I hope it remains its nice and peaceful atmosphere :) I was so scared when I saw the initial method of merging servers and thought, noooo Saronians will scatter all over the place.

Sargatanas might be our new home, but im born and raised in Saronia and proud of it :3

I'm excited to be meeting all of you Saronians! :)

I spent a while on the forums and on FFXIVPro/XIVPads trying to look for people/linkshells I recognized, since I can recognize lots from other servers, but I found no one! It's good to see Saronia isn't a total wasteland, haha. We Lindblumites are a generally nice bunch of people, I think we'll get along very well!

And the name Sargatanas is finally growing on me! ;)

Yeah, I like it a lot better now that I'm pronouncing it correctly, lmao. At first I thought it was Sar-GAH-tun-nus instead of Sar-guh-TAN-us. Sounds muuuuuch better! :cool:

i guess you guys are blind because you didn't see that NAMES WILL BE ANNOUNCED AFTER MERGER APPLICATIONS ARE COMPLETE. so as far as the names that were listed, they are NOT set in stone, meaning those might not evn be the names, or that they are not necessarily associated with the worlds listed. As far as the two worlds being merged to form the new servers, those may be accurate but for instance Rabanastre + Cornelia could not necessarily turn into Durandal they could turn into Ridill, or maybe even something not even listed on the post.

Saronia is pretty small from what I can tell, only about 3 major endgame linkshells. Pretty much everyone on the server gets along well and there is not really any major drama or anything on this server. I'm actually excited to meet all the new people from Lindblum. But I'm sad/mad about our new server name...

Why would SE purposely shoot themselves in the foot like that? They've announced this information as if it will be the final decision. Why would they go back on it now?

Edit: The text underneath the merged servers even exclusively calls the EU server "Ragnarok", as if it is already an official name change. I'm fairly certain this will be the names now.

The line that says: "The new Worlds will be named after the merge has taken place." Simply means that the new servers won't have the old server names like "Bodhum," etc. They will adopt the new names SE has already given them for when they do merge.

You're referring to the old merger announcement. These names are indeed set in stone, nothing on the new announcement suggests otherwise.

BUT it doesn't say that the names will be random.. All I get from this is, "After the merge, the servers will have new names."

He's refering to:

The new Worlds will be named after the merge has taken place.

Which means, the names of the servers won't be changed until the merge takes place. Meaning Bodhum won't be called Excalibur until the date of the merge... The names are staying though, unless enough players boycott it.

Correct. It says the merged servers will have new names. It doesn't say the names will be different than how they have it listed now. It just means we won't be called Bodhum, or Besaid, or Saronia, anymore, etc.

you could take it that way but as they said before, they didnt want to name the servers to prevent people from Flocking to specific servers, causing some servers to be over crowded and others to be too empty. Which is why i think it means these names are just examples.

If they meant what youre talking about, where the servers just wont take their new names until merge, i think thats kinda obvious, cuz they arent gonna change 2 or 3 existing servers and refer to them as the same server for 2 months. also i think they would have used the word "renamed" if they meant it that way.

From what I read I had wondered if they were reconsidering that whole idea, and possibly deciding to give the names if using a different merge method (as they are now.)
I could be mistaken of course.

I doubt that there will be such an influx of new players between now and March 27th that the servers couldn't handle it. Are you just disappointed with your appointed server name? lol

nah im not, I'm going to Durandul apparently, but if i dint like it i wouldn't cry about it on the forums, id simply talk to my friends in game and move to whatever one i wanted to go to. which is why these probably arent the names cuz Sargantiousnesasshatbullshit would have like 100 people on it if the names were what they are on this post.

Honestly I think they let us know the names during the announcement because they want and need people to go the Ragnarok server. They say they have plans if the world is underpopulated but I really wonder what that could be.

I don't think we have to worry about server names going random on us. Sure, we could have misunderstood.. It could be a poor translation. But I really don't think SE'd make a mistake that big, showing us an example without saying it's an example, and freaking everyone out. lol

Also, they're not labeling them 1-10 anymore. It seems that idea died.

Are you really just that dense, or do you need to go back to elementary school for basic English comprehension? It means that all servers will have new names different from the ones we currently have. The new names are the ones in that list.

EDIT: For further clarification, the French translation says, "The current names are not retained." In other words, "All new worlds will receive a new name."

I'm pretty happy with this new name. Dragon's Aery holds some classic moments for me in my MMO career, and I'm glad they kept the FFXI vibe with our server name.

ok by releasing names now they run the rsik of having one or more servers underpopulated again. Say no one likes the names Sagatanas and Gungnir, so 50% of the people going to those servers all move to different servers just because they will take anything but those names. so then u have 8 servers at max and 2 servers with the same population as the current population. that ruins the reason for the server merge in the first place. And as i stated earlier Yoshi himslef said 5 days ago that Names wont be released till after merge is complete. I highly doubt they would all of a sudden just change his mind and release them.. thats exactly what this thread is about. some people dont like their name so they make retarded petitions to have it changed, or if they really dont like it theyll move. im pretty sure they dont want that
