I'll bet you the chocobo barding designer got their hands on it at some point.

This reminds me of that black/white/red caster lvl 50 set, the one that looks like a jester and mad hatter combo. The tail on a miqo archs up. xD First time I saw it I was like o_O.
What I don't get is why are these so expensive.
I know they're also expensive on the korean and chinese shopa but I was under the impression those versions were F2P?
Shouldn't we get some compensation since we actually pay a sub and all that?
I don't know what i should feel anymore , i really wanted to believe the Mog Station glam gear is fairly priced and acceptble quaility but I keep losing more and more faith as I see each new mog station item. When my friends gave up on the way early i saw this coming , even if I did not want to admit it. Lately I just come to see this as they start droping glam after glam in short amount of time it feels like they are just milking the playerbase for money at this point. I'm really sad to see this, and seems to impacting quaility and that it might be a sign that XIV will die very soon if they do not change something on the processes, either be more failry priced, more account wide options or show higher quaility.
My friend that really likes princess themed things was ranting to me all day about this, from not liking the hands clipping the dress (she admits it would be hard to fit weapons in it, that is what the hide weapon option is for) but she is really bothered by the price and hand clippings. In the end she does want it and can afford it but is rejecting on buying it purely based on prinable that her view the mog station is too cash grabby.
i find it funny the uproar with this set when the male set is decent to pretty good while female set is pretty awful (top atleast)
i bet if it was the opposite this topic would be dead.
I have to admit, this dress is rather sad. Why are we getting body pieces that are extremely poofy?! I remember a dungeon body piece that made us look pregnant as well. ><
Not sure who was in charge of this, but they dropped the ball on this one, and like others have mentioned, the clipping on both the hands and the tails, for us that have them, are horrible.
Luckly, the rest of the pieces are quite wonderful. Especially the shoes and tiara. (See SE? You CAN do heels, now do more, craftable INGAME! ^^) I can also see the gloves and skirt maybe being used too.
Should mention that the long gloves are the only ones I think that allow accessories to be seen too.
I understand this was probably said as just a joke, but i feel because we pay for these items as optional extras, they should be made to a higher standard. The request for longer hair options shouldn't be denied just because of already, obviously, ignored clipping issues when it comes to gear design/ implementation.
I actually quite like it and was hoping for more ballgown-style clothing, so this made me really happy to see available so quickly.
As someone said in the Reddit thread:. "Yes, during beta (if you partook in it) they said explicitly that clipping is going to be present in this game, some more than other on items because of trading off physics for performance. So it's sadly just something we'll have to get used to." - Razaroic MCH
It's so poofy and looks horrible in-game that I just want it for the skirt. xD
Would anyone who has bought this mind showing how the skirt dyes? That alone is super pretty... not $18 pretty, but longer skirts in this game seem hard to come by.
the price is highway robbery, period. I can spend less on RL clothing items.
You know, I wondered about that when I saw the data-mined dress. It looked perfectly portioned for a lala's three head tall body. On the other race's bodies, the dress seemed off to me. Nice to see that it wasn't just me thinking the princess dress was made primarily with lalafell females in mind.
The male version looks so much better then the dress... I would actually spend 18 bucks to wear that on my highlander.

I have the dress on my character and I don't think she looks pregnant (if she does, she got pregnarted by Aymeric). Regardless on where the bulkiness starts, I still compare this dress to a Disney princess dress because of the poofiness. Can't change my mind :>
Now I see what makes it look bad- Neither the skirt or the bunched ruffles at the bottom look like fabric. Theres no definition to it at all so it looks like a cartoony scoop of ice cream. It like they forgot to add textures to it. Sad tablet doodle to hopefully explain what I mean :

:edit:
After seeing the male set in game...wew. Those capes, oh man. The outfit would be almost cute without the awful "capes". They're like two pieces of cardboard glued to your back D:
They are not F2P, I believe they pay per hour? But isnt it sad that they got them this low quality? I mean they seemingly give them that many outfits because its not doing that well there..so shouldnt the outfits be at least of some quality?
Well the male one does not look like high quality either (thanks to the pic in this thread). And I at least would still argue for better quality even if the female one was better.
Its such a shame because if they ditched the capes it'd make for a good RDM/BRD/PLD glam hopefully modders can fix it lmao

I still hope that one day they'll cough up this frilly monster because ruffles on ruffles are my jam. The male set is almost there but those capes ;-;
I... I kinda like it.
I mean, there are high bustles with really big crinolines like that in Victorian era, right?
Or perhaps this is just me trying to justify my impulse purchasing.
Or, it is supposed to be tacky like this, leaning heavy on the dresses that princesses of lore and fairytales used to wear.
I mean, look at Disney alone with their roster.
There is texture to the bottom of the dress but its subtle and requires good lighting

This is the best example i have atm
Congrats... this just reminded me of Suikoden... lol Now THIS would indeed make an awesome set...

All this stuff should have just been added to the Gold Saucer. It would at least have forced players to run that content :)
I can see what they wanted to go with and the idea is kind of cute. The male one even is half as bad. But sadly the whole clipping and the overly puffed look on any big race ruin it for me.
I hope that anyone who bought it is happy with it though. Meanwhile I save money. (Though I haven't been that impressed by any recent outfit...)
well here is some samples in pastel pink

it does dye nice it is something I would buy if it was not overpriced at 18 dollars while having some of the clipping issues be less. No reason it should be eating people's hands. If you care about weapon clipping, then you are stuck having it as a SCH/SMN glam. If they allowed wand glams ( 1 handed weapons for thm/blm, cnj/whm) then those 2 jobs could use the dress fairly well too.
The male version looks decent enough though I'm concerned by how 'stiff' the bits at the back look during movement. I might buy it, though I do wish male characters would receive more glamour options that aren't just different varieties of frilly shirts. One of my favourite items added to the game in terms of Mog Station items so far is Thancred's 'newest' outfit. It compliments the male physique very nicely and looks especially great on roguish characters.
It's also why I'm gunning for Hien's set to be added. Hopefully along with his hair and stubble...
Sadly it seems they no longer care to do this kind of stuff. They're putting more and more things into the Mog Station that really should be from in-game. Good example is the Distressed Manderville attire. That should have been part of the Hildebrand questline but instead was shoved into the Mog Station at the exact same time the quest was released. I can't think of any recent special glam gear that has been given in game instead of being $18 cash grabs in the Mog Station.
Again those dresses have the puffy part begin under the waist

The dress added in-game has the puffy part begins where your stomach is making you look like you either have a massive stomach or you're 8 months in pregnancy.
