This was a bad change. Please change it back!
Please change it back. This just makes it harder for everyone. If they really want a specific piece of loot, they should just be running it on that class :/ now it's difficult for EVERYONE to get what they want
Its bad enough when you enter one of these dungeons as, for example, a SMN looking for a specific piece only to see a BLM in the same party. I'm sure everyone does the same thing:"let me examine this guy to see if he already has the piece I need."
It sucks when you have to roll again one person. Now, we have to roll against seven. And it is not just the one time, mind you. Every time you queue for these new raids, you'll always be rolling against seven other people. But it doesn't stop there. At the beginning of the week, the weekly is flooded with people who want their loot and at the end of the week you'll be lucky if you even get to see the inside of the place since anyone who has their loot isn't queuing.
This is a terrible system and does not actually address any problems with the system. I don't want to have to spend 30+min in a queue as a healer only to lose all my rolls to tanks and dps.
If you want loot for a job, play on that job. If you can't then you get a chance at loot if those who are playing those jobs don't need it themselves.
so give us back need > greed > pass loot rules
This change makes it extremely hard to gear up alt jobs because now you're rolling against 7 other people on every thing.
Honestly this loot change is one of the dumbest things they've ever implemented into the game, and whoever thought this was a good idea should immediately be fired.
If you want gear for a particular job, you should PLAY THAT JOB.
I am taking the long way by doing hunts for books to get my 360 to 370. I refuse to step foot in that POS dungeon after doing a couple of bosses. Too much anxiety for me, gettin' old here hehe.
Your loss Besame. Im rather enjoying Ridorana. The fights are decently tough, but each is very recoverable. The bosses have some interesting(and new!) mechanics, but none of them have more then a half dozen moves. Things start to speed up and overlap when the fights go long enough, but it never gets to the level of a soft enrage. I saw a group that was struggling outlast the third boss - it took them more then 20 mins(and 4 or 5 healer LB 3s), but they never wiped(came so close) and eventually put him down. Same group actually did the whole raid with only a single wipe(last boss add phase - too many dead DPS when they spawned).
And im still on the "its a non-issue" side of the loot change. If it goes back, fine. If it stays, fine. I did 4 ridoranas and 4 alliance roulettes last week. Not once did someone complain in group or over alliance about losing an item they wanted. And both times someone asked for an upgrade to be passed to them it was. Could someone have been silently furious that they lost a roll they never asked for a pass on? Unless they say so, i have no way to know. And yes, most of the loot from the new one still hits the ground with no rolls. Lockout plus the fact that itll be 2 patches before any of the stuff can be turned in for seals or used to desyn.
I am wholly against this. This is the second week in a row someone gearing a secondary class has taken a piece I sorely needed to upgrade my main class even after I asked for the piece. It's always only been one other person that greeded on the piece. This new system is ridiculous and disheartening.
After two weeks of losing pieces for my main class, to other players who gleefully bragged about wanting them for glamour, I'm done with this game. We pay for time to play, and this system flat out waste our time. There was nothing wrong with needing for pieces that you need. There were plenty of dungeon sets that were easily obtainable by alternate classes, to gear up to the alliance raid level.
If they change the system I'll come back, until then I refuse to pay to have them waste my time.
This new system has left a very bad taste in my mouth. For personal reasons I had to leave the game for a while, so trying to get gear to catch up on current content is a chore. Make the game more friendly to people catching up in some ways, and screw them over in others.
I wasn't around for much of the last patch, but decided to try to catch up in case I decide to raid next patch. I would also like to do the new extreme primal.
It's frustrating that I can't need on healer gear. I didn't have any problem doing the dungeons and raids on the classes I want to gear up. I've ran this dungeon 3 times and have seen 2+ healer pieces each time and haven't gotten any of them. It's really frustrating. I don't want to run this dungeon more than once a week because it's not worth it if I have to roll against 7 other people instead of 1 other healer plus there's the added chance that a healer item won't even be dropped. I'll run it once a week, get my coin and be done with it.
SE please change it back to Need/Greed/Pass.
I'd like to at least suggest you ask in chat before you roll on something you need, and hope that good manners will help ease the trouble.
On one hand, I don't like trying to get into 24-mans on a class not in demand (Tanks are fairly shafted on the days after patch), so being able to come in as a needed class and roll for something you can't need fairly is good... but I don't think that makes up for the cornucopia of problems it presents.
It has been 4 times I did Rabanastre trying to get Samurai Set, and yes I was doing it with Samurai Job, not that it matters now. I saw several times many pieces of the set, and even before I asking the party that I was in need of these gears, none of then passed or said anything. I don't feel like doing any raid anymore for getting gear for glamour, not until the they change this back as it was. Thanks for making my gameplay experience frustating, now not only I have to deal with rng I need to beg others for the gear. (Clap clap clap)
This Greed only system is terrible. Seeing a piece you need drop and then getting out rolled by people that don't even have the job leveled sucks. I even tried to asking the party if I could have a piece and was literally lol'd at and told, "It's Greed only, so get lucky."
It's now as frustrating to get gear you want as it is to get the cards and minions. I refuse anymore to run 24 mans any more than once a week at this point. I used to queue again and again until my piece I wanted would drop since the odds were slightly more in your favor with Need.
At least the upgrade coin hasn't become a loot item again...
I don't get why not bring back Need and offer a bonus to pass loot like more tomes or etc. Going Greed only especially in the older 24 mans that are unlocked is silly...everyone is punching that Greed button on every loot piece.
Just had my Ninja friend lose out on gear to a person that was literally AFK for most of the fights. When they came back they rolled greed and when we questioned them they said "sorry, I wasn't paying attention to party chat, I had something going on." This idea from Yoshi P that the player base will yield to requests simply isn't true. Now more and more gear goes to bags or seals that other players could use. I won't even farm old raids anymore because it's pointless.
System is total shit. Farming gear was already frustrating enough because of the randomness, especially in 2.xx raids, where only one item per boss drops. Now, there is basically no chance left to get the items you want, so why bother outside of doing the Stormblood ones once per week and the daily duty roulette?
Have to add my voice here since I saw this wasn't addressed in the last version update. I would like to leave feedback that greed only is annoying in Ridorana and just plain rude in other raids. I would really prefer that greed-only be removed entirely, but if you insist on keeping it in, then at least disable it for ARR and HW raids, so I can at least attempt to farm glamours. It was frustrating enough before when I could hit need but required anywhere from days to weeks just to see a piece drop. Making that RNG even worse is just cruel...
Going to toss my input in here too. The new Greed Only system is proving to be nothing but a stressful, drama starting setup from the onset. I've done the Lighthouse twice a week (2 characters) since it came out and it's been a fight every single time I've been in there because of the greed system. It really should go back to the Need/Greed system. There was no reason to change it in the first place.

Please look forward to it.
All this change has done, was re-affirm my decision to NOT run Raids.
Sigmascape is bad enough where you to do 5, 10 runs and not get anything at all.
Now, instead of getting a generic item that can be used to purchase an item of your choice, it's the armor itself that is dropped, but it's still free-loot everybody can greed regardless of class.
So basically, a huge "NO THANKS" from me. I'm not putting that kind of time and effort into losing items to people who aren't even the right job to use it.
Screw that.
I would love to hear what Yoshi-P had in mind when he made this decision, and whether or not the outcome matched his prediction. Is this what he wanted? People to walk away from raiding because they are losing items to people who aren't even the right job to use them?
EDIT: I saw the link in the post above mine, but I still have questions about what made him think this was a good idea, why he even got the inspiration to try this in the first place, etc. No disrespect meant or anything, but I'm trying to understand his thought process here, but it appears to defy any kind of logic I can come up with.
Maeka, they answered your question when they announced the change. The 24 man raids arrive in the "catch up" patch, and they dont drop higher level loot then currently available. In their minds, its a good chance to gear up alternative classes(afterall, a whole major patch is more then enough time to get a full set of tome/8 man raid gear for your main class). But the difficulty of some of the raids means that some players would only be comfortable playing on their main class. So "Greed Only" was supposed to allow people to take the class they know best and still have an equal shot at the loot for their class that needs it. They also announced that they were open to reverting the change if it wasnt popular, and now theyve announced that they will. I never thought this was a big deal either way, and ive still only seen 1 person upset about losing out on loot to someone who wasnt on the appropriate class at the time(and i average 8 alliance runs per week between the roulette and the new one, so thats plenty of chances to see people affected by it).
Well, nice to see the old system back. Was able to actually get a couple pieces for my Sam.
Though I find the whole set weird. I know it's based off Vaan from Tactics A2, but I don't get the point of heavy greaves and gauntlets paired with... a light cloth shirt. Why protect everything BUT your torso?
I thought this was for the Savage, but yes I'm glad to see Need return.
For SAVAGE raid however, I'd wish they'd make it to where you don't relinquish loot if you skip tiers or reduce chests after completing it. I mean, you already get your loot but want to help others clear, why punish other people?
Comparing to Destiny 1 & 2, you can clear raid, get your loot and run it as many times to help others clear and their loot table gets no impact. This design seems stubborn and doesn't really help players.
One suggestions I would like to add is to shorten the roll timer on the loot because it's getting tiresome getting to the end of these raids only to have on person not roll hoping others are gonna leave and just sit there for the entire duration of the timer it's honestly wasting everyone time. Even if you currently factor in cutscenes there is still so much time left on the timer and it's really annoying.
