Hey guys, I'm fairly new to FFXIV and mainly playing tanks as of right now(70 WAR, 68 PAL, 61 DRK).
I have a few ideas I've been thinking about lately and I wanted to share them, good thing this thread exists.
Champion
Weapon: Dual wielding swords
Quest NPC: Raubahn
Requirement: Lv30 Gladiator(I believe the tank drought exists because people don't have many options picking a class when it comes to tanking)
It has like the other tanks 2 stances, Brutality(DPS) and Entertainer(Tank), its gimmick is entering counter stances and depending on which stance you're on(DPS or Tank) you buff yourself.
Necromancer
Weapon: Scythes
Quest NPC: Nybeth Obdilord's spirit(maybe?)
A true caster tank, it could raise corpses for a limited time, they'd have enmity generating auras. It can also make them explode directing the enmity towards itself, a skill that counts towards how many dead enemies are around the caster enabling it to summon a flesh golem.
While I'm at it...
Dark Knight
I have to say, this is probably the most boring class I've played, ever. Why does it exist exactly? It swings a great sword around like it's a flag, the animations are so long that everything just looks silly and most of all, it doesn't even feel like a dark knight.
Anyway, when I think of FF's Dark Knight, I think of Dark Magic, drain abilities and blood sacrifice. it'd have 2 active bars, Shadow Blade and Blood Shield which you can toggle between with a single skill, whichever is inactive slowly starts to deplete. I haven't really thought about what kind of benefits Shadow Blade might give since it's a tank class I've been mainly thinking of Blood Shield, this would essentially be your second HP bar, you fill it up by using your ordinary skills which cause you to lose actual HP otherwise the healers would have nothing to heal, there'd be skills with a large CD that'd dramatically increase your Blood Shield meter by sacrificing a large chunk of your HP, so basically it's a high risk high reward type of class. Oh and no more waving the sword around like it's a flag, when wielding a great sword it needs to sunder and smash!
Like everyone has been saying, Beastmaster and Blue Mage would be really cool as well, though I think it'd be better if the Blue Mage polymorphed parts of its body to cast the spell instead of just traditionally casting.

You can edit your original post to bypass the 1000 character limit.

Thanks, it's still a weird restriction haha.

it was a tank in ffxi it was also the group that was built use to going fishing for mobs
my thought on blue mage is to make it a tank mages.
have intellect effect how improve it ability avoidance have it ability use spell like fire breath to pull mobs. have them wield duel scimitars.
as for beastmaster I would rather have it dps pet jobs.
