I actually really like the top...
Might consider it.

No dye, no buy
Not outfit of hers I wanted. I want the one she wears now that was in the video. Also if can't dye it sure not worth no 12 dollars. Maybe worth 6 dollars for it if can't dye it.
Yus, as long as it is not dyable I don't really want it. I want it to fit my character, not the other way round.
The rest of my post states that's a typo- as I said they have no excuse to be making female only items. (including the bunny outfit)
It was just a grammar error of me forgetting to type "no reason"
I just didnt go in and edit it out because I thought people would see what I meant.
Square dosent care about subs anymore, Just cash shop. New content has been getting smaller and less quality where all the work goes in to cash shop items.
Heres a question to make you rack your brain. What FREE TO PLAY GAME has a more expensive cash shop then FFXIV?
After looking around at pricing, items, and the cost of the games and or subscriptions (if available) Star Wars the Old Republic is the only Free to play MMO with a BIGGER and More expensive cash shop. Even though the game is free and sub is optional.
But all the other mmos out there with no subscriptions have a smaller more reasonable cash shop then FFXIV. So what are we paying are subs for? so they can pout better items on the cash shop?
This isn't about the outfit, but why the HEY is a LANTERN worth $15????? I'm hoping that was an error of some sort.
The thing is SE does not care anymore they will say "aww but we do care" and their fan boys will believe it but of course they won't admit to not caring they want our money.
Now they might do our most outspoken requests because it is what we want but they will do the bare minimum of it because they know they can get away with it aslong as they give us something and that people will still buy mog station stuff regardless and at the same time make it less work for them to do.
The sooner people see this the sooner those people will pack up and leave infact some people already have I see it almost every patch.
The only reason I play this game at all anymore is because 90% of the amazing people I met back when I enjoyed the game only play on pc and I only own a ps4 and right now we seriously lack cross platform play with mmos.
I am more disappointed that they did not bother to release the other character's Outfits.
This is just nonsense. All the recent Cash Shop outfits have been promotional stuff for the Korean version, cosplay or past event items. The latter is also why SE appears to have a larger cash shop catalog than most. Few games in general bring back past exclusives. If you weren't there for the event, they're permanently lost. It harms nothing putting them on the cash shop a year later for those who missed the event.
It has a glow animation or whatever. So they listed equivalent to the huge Moogle lantern and Bahamut Miniature.
I doubt it. All their prices have remained fairly consistent. What they usually do is announce a sale of some sort and that likely attracts all the fence walkers. I know I'm guilty of holding out for those sales. It's what prompted me to get Bennu. I would have bought the Moogle then too, but a friend gifted me it. Speaking of, I hope this "Mount Madness" isn't their winter sale for the year. I'm tempted to get some outfits for my alt but don't want to spend full price. Yes, I know, I'm terrible. >.>
Uhhhh that's not the Ala Mhigan dress! No thanks.
You want to know what's funny? Someone already made a set of recolored skins for the Scion Liberator's Coat, WITH-IN THE FIRST DAY OF RELEASE (they changed the color of the bralette too):

Please note that these are reskins/recolored texture files and were NOT made dyeable.
This post will probably get deleted by admins but oh well... >w>
Actually, I wanted that top from the moment I saw it. And I got it. And I am happy, yes, but I VERY much share the sentiment that it ought to be dyeable.
Let's face it: it looks great. Lots of people are gonna want to wear it. But no one's going to want to look the same wearing it. When I got back into PvP, I self-styled myself as "The White Hot Machinist" - a tenacious MCH player who wears all white - in order to stand out and be recognized either by skill, or simply by appearance. I would LOVE to be able to dye this Pure White! I'm not broken up that I can't, and part of me hopes SE sees that many people aren't going to want to buy this or other standout glamours in the future if they aren't dyeable. (Hien's attire is awesome! But I don't like yellow. . .)
As for the gender disparities, while I perhaps don't share the same passion because I don't play a male character, I do very much echo Serilda's opinions on the matter. It really isn't fair, especially with repeated assurances that something is coming, then this happens.
totes reminds me of Kid from Chrono Cross just a hair.
It's MSQ NPC outfit
F2P games = want everyone to buy stuff in their shop
FF XIV = only a bonus and optional luxus, not neccessary to keep the game running
Open up a thread and demand the outfit from Conrad (a male NPC)
I really hope that they wont sell Lyses red dress in the mog station because that would just be another hint that we will get more stuff there instead of the game. She said that this was a traditional dress in Ala Mhigo and in the past we got the traditional common clothes in the Gold saucer. If they now put even those things in the mog station we are getting less and less glamour content in the game itself.
Also I still find it bad that they cant be bothered to create an unisex version (or a version for both genders) when its even a paid costume..I mean they get money back from selling it and once you have it done the cost for selling it is kinda zero since its a digital good. So for me it feels more like they are selling this to make easy and fast money without a thought about us as a playerbase. How hard is it to change this if you directly get money back from it? How hard is it to make it dyeable?
They truly implement this the easiest way possible without much change to it and yet want quite the money for an item that was already existing in the game anyway..
We already have it, it's generic dungeon gear. Girls can wear it too. All of the design enthusiasm went into the unique (overwhelmingly female) story NPC gear for Stormblood. Since we're obviously going to get passed over when Lyse's battle dress is released this would have been a good one to make unisex.
I think we'd rather have a detailed open jacket like Lyse's, and some actual all-job shorts, than a cash shop version of a beige level 60 dungeon drop.
I like how the JP Twitter account is currently trolling us more by celebrating 'nice knee-highs' day with a bunch of pictures of popular female glamours involving kneesocks. Just be honest and delete us from the game, S-E.
I am just waiting for her dress and hair to be released...
I avoid the likes of Twitter, so I'm not up to date with anything related to the official FFXIV Twitter pages. Though I'm genuinely curious - is there a lack of focus on male characters there as well? I know a lot of the seasonal event and teaser art has a habit of 'hiding away' male characters especially if it's a beach scene...
honestly I'd want Lyse's other outfit in SB....the more formal one? I guess you could call it.
:)
When you stop to think about it, last summer event used the female gaze as an actual fail condition for a quest when you're spying after what Gegeruju was looking at. Male characters being presented in a sexual light, least of all showing skin, is condemned and abhorred by the game and its developers. Which is wrong for so many reasons.
The preference for cute girls is pretty universal lately; they use cute (and only cute) female characters to show things off in streams and as you say, female characters in the seasonal artwork with the occasional dude as a background prop (convenient, since our event gear is usually sloppier and less unique so they wouldn't want it front and centre). Even the male NPCs get shafted with two of the male Scions getting no unique HW gear and most of the key male NPCs pulling outfits together from generic items.
Choosing to celebrate 'knee-highs day' specifically when they know only half their playerbase can get involved properly is the usual tonedeaf foolishness. Their Twitter uploads are full of female characters in nice outfits. And then there are events like the gear design contests, where the staff picked out the female versions of most of the designs for the gallery and never even showed off the male variants, making huge walls of gorgeous dresses for people to visualise.
The wording on some of the cash shop betrays the opinions of the writers; it seems to be a companywide systemic bias. I've mentioned this example before:
“While guys are only sporting a standard pair of spiderweb stockings, the ladies can also enjoy a stylish short skirt."
Guys, who even cares about them? I actually liked the stockings in question but the description was directly insulting and it's far from the only example :/
mehhhhhhh don't care XD
It's not as if they're incapable of creating great looking sets for both genders during seasonal events, either. My current glamour, for instance, is the male variant of the songbird attire. I ditched the hat, though. :p
I like it a lot because it looks conventionally attractive on a male character, it can be dyed and it can be used as a glamour set for any job in the game. Female characters received their own unique set as well - so everybody was happy across the board. The irony is that the event in question is called 'Little Lady's Day' yet ended up being one of the fairest events to date where gear distribution is concerned.
Yeah, the songbird event items were great, and actually gave me hope that SE was earnest when they said they were trying to address their gender bias in gear. If they could keep things at that level instead of taking the lazy way and recycling a common set for males while designing unique items for female characters (*cough*Valentione/last year’s All Saint’s*cough*) I think everyone would be happier.
It would help so much if they just unlocked all gloves/hats/boots (including variants with separate names and models like the werewolf boots for both genders, assuming that we could buy the other version at the scavenger). Everyone would get something new and even though the guys would get more initially, it would be a good sign for players with female characters in future. Then the gender disparity is much smaller; the bunny suit and a couple of additional body/legs pieces to match the rest would be all they needed to do to achieve parity for everyone. As someone with a big character model I know they hardly ever retexture things when they increase the size anyway (sadly) so it's certainly not impossible for them to unlock the gloves/hats/boots. They did it once before very quickly after a backlash.
Agree that the male Songbird outfit was very nice. It looked good on every body type too. Whoever designed that needs to be given more work.
That is mere flavour text. Both of Lyse's outfits are wholly unique to her whereas the Gold Saucer outfits are what you see on random NPCs throughout the world. Can we stop with this whole "they're taking content away!" nonsense? They routinely add free glamour; often far nicer than what's available in the cash shop (Ao Dai). In fact, the only "unique" outfits added have been the Korean sets that were designed for a different version with the sole intent to sell. We only got them because people kept asking, and the prices were set by a separate company. Either way, I guarantee Lyse's second outfit will be on the Mogstation just like Trancred and Y'shtola's eventually made it there.
As for unisex options. They likely just don't want to spend the time to redesign a whole outfit, especially since it apparently takes quite some time to do. It also hearkens back to the whole authenticity aspect. They seem to prefer cosplay outfits to stay exactly how they are. Can't say I like that stance, but it doesn't look like they'll be changing it either.
If you could dye it I wouldve bought it...alas....
I bought the outfit and I'm happy with it cuz I always wanted her jacket. Another set of gloves for me to use besides Punching Gloves (Hands down the best gloves in this game). The no hair part does annoy me because it feels like SE is very anti long hair or they're saving it for Lyse's Formal wear. Either way, the game needs add-on support because nowadays, the community ends up fixing the game for the Developers.
I've been without internet for like forever, so finally logging in and seeing the stuff thats' gone on is so upsetting. Serilda I support you and the gender equality in gear, I always have. Some of the arguments you've had to deal with in this thread and others - people just don't understand, because it doesn't effect them, and it's sad. We should all be supporting one another, god forbid when they start making race locked gear too and only X race gets stuff, they'll know how we feel then. Giving you a big internet hug my friend, and if you do decide not to resub, all the best.
Then they should not use such flavor text if only one NPC wears it. Also Ala Mhigo is still building itself back up and the dress is kinda more formal too. So its not that suprising that we are not seeing so many people that are running around with it right now. But at least it was important enough for the people of Ala Mhigo that she choose to wear this in battle.
Yet we also still have way more Asian styled sets in the Mog station than the game itself. (And on top of that the one set that was even released before Stormblood is worn by quite some NPCs in the game itself) Yes most of them are from other campaigns but its just bad that we still have barely any costumes for the theme ingame. (And lets not talk about all the unique house items that cost a lot of money, or the unique mounts) I really hope for them that we will get the carbuncle mount in the game...if this will be another cash shop mount..
The problem with not taking their time: This is not something that goes "for free" into the game. Its something that is released in the cash shop thus they get extra money from that. If that is not reason enough to create an version for each gender than I dont really know what will make them do it. (And on top of that they already have one version ready instead of having to create them both from the scratch)
