Also to note, as I was watching the video I was thinking "Is this a developer build? The Mnk is't losing Mp while using Wind Fists". Someone noted that the Bard MP refresh recovers 34 MP a tick, effectively making fists permanent. While we don't know the MP drain of Kick Attacks, this is a pretty huge deal for Mnk. Someone in my LS even noticed how Mnk was doing about the same damage per round as Lnc with damage.

On the Chimera, MNK is doing about 40-45 per hit (2 hits per AA is 80-90) while the other classes range from like 8 on PLD to 17 on WAR.

Seems like Chimera is weak to Wind.

This ability almost made up my day after the "no wolf heads for this patch" disappointment :P

Nice! They changed fists of wind. This should make it easier to chase those moogles.

Seems like Kick got gimped a bit.

Adds kick to auto-attacks. Damage of auto-attacks is reduced.
Cannot be used simultaneously with Hundred Fists.
Recast Time: 120 sec.

Might be good for building TP and looking badass

Well the old notes showed it as consuming MP while active, and unable to use Fists of XXXX with it.

I'd say the change is better, depending on how it works (and if I understand the damage formulas correctly) it might be a net DPS gain on squishys, and net loss on GLA types (if Fist of XXX isn't active)

At first I thought kicks would be similar to fists of elements where we can keep it up as long as we had MP, but since it has a pretty long cooldown I'm thinking it may only last a short duration

Wow I didn't notice the change to Fists of Wind from the info we were given before, that's really nice. It probably will be useful in Ifrit, too, since he's weak to Wind and it will make it easier to get out of the way of eruptions, and you could get back into position with Shoulder Tackle.

Yup. I called it well in advance.
The elemental damage boost as well as movement speed and shoulder tackle are set to make it effective in Moogle as well.

MNK's looking to be flavor of the month.

Oh good, it seems Yoshida got my hurt butt in the mail today.

Well Ballad of Magi, unbuffed by Battle Voice, recovers 34 MP a tick which more than cover the drain of the elemental fists.

When buffed by Battle Voice, it looks to recover 71 MP per tick.

Don't think we're gonna need to rely on Sucker Punch at all - at least not so heavily.

Rely or not, it's part of Dragon Kick. Furthermore with Mnk getting Keen Flurry, Kick Attacks to build TP, and Wind Fists to reduce recast of WS, Mnk will need all their combos from all the WS spam they'll be doing.

Not impressed with stats on AF gear. Only piece that beats my current gear is the feet. Darklight piece's are nice though

Apparently the stats they showed on the AF weren't complete. Reinhart linked something that shows the AFs with some AF-worthy stats

stats are correct they just have a hidden part

Monk's AF is pretty boss, if you ask me. It's got a TON of Attack Power buffing (the most of all the AF armor), and awesome Evasion bonuses as well. Not to mention the built-in skill buffs like lowering MP cost on Fists, buffing FoW and so on.

i would like to see the full set on a player, it looks bad ass

While the feather doesn't give me as much int as my current hat, the eva is a nice bonus so IDK which one I'll use. Other than that the gear is so nice X.X

It is but depends on your current gear.

Most 2 meld gear will beat Temple's depending on how good the boost are.

Feet with boosted fist of wind and atk power are amazing.
Legs with Shoulder tackle recast to.

Hands (2meld raptor gloves beat)

and head (2 meld int hat/tricorne beat)

Body will be interesting to see.

Darklight gear is amazing though (but hands)

Fist of Wind gives something like 120-130% movement speed+ (and if not engaged you can keep it up forever).

The Kick attack skill lowers damage to equal out. Say your fists do 150 (so 300 per round) with Kick attacks you do 100 (300 per round). So essentially its just a TP boosting move like Invigorate.

Shoulder Tackle does 3-4x the damage of a hit (hits for ~700-800 if you hit the mob for 200 normally), and it dashes you if the mob is not engaged to any one. So once the fight starts its just an extra 'attack" you can use to boost DPS.

I didn't make note of the WS recast reduction yet, nor how effective the JSE is. The Helmit is better than Paragon's Crown, but really isn't better than double INT melded hat (which I don't have anyways).

I think pants are slightly worse than what you can meld but the Shoulder Tackle Recast might be worth the small loss. Feet are most likely better than everything.

I think Gloves? Are worthless. Body is probably useful ONLY until you get the Dark body from the raid which has uber stats (same with the headpiece).

We now have 3 elements to choose from, and most of our damage comes from exploiting mob weaknesses. In the absence of weakness, it would be nice to know whether Fire or Wind are okay to boost ATK/reduce recast.

So I wonder: is there a chart detailing mob elemental affinities?

Preferably something up-to-date and accurate.

I feel like the feet are boosting the movement speed too, could have just been my mind playing tricks on me.

Regrdless I have been enjoying this so much... It's just SO fast. I was walking past sneak aggro while doing the Dzemael af piece and people were yelling at me to stop running >_>. Took them a while to get that I was, in fact, power-walking.

As i see them, the stance,

Wind: for damage based on duration (Shorten recast)
Fire: Give a good burst damage (attack+)
Earth: Defensif (Defense+)

You mean for the AF quest? Yeah I took him down with some LS mates to get the final piece. We did it by having the tank kite the boss the whole time, while the damage dealers knock off his cronies. Best order to kill them in that we found is kill the THM first, then ARC, then MRD, then LNC, then the boss.

Be wary of his Dragon Kick, as it's an AoE unlike ours and can wipe you if you're not careful.

So much nostalgia.. The monk quests were awesome. I enjoyed the diced difficulty and story.

Its ok Ive got my Body piece a few minutes after I posted by using the Kiting way as well :)

So I've noticed that Fists of Wind significantly cuts down recast times on WS. I think Howling Fist dropped from 80 sec recast to 60 sec. Also, that perma-quick is amazing. It probably makes MNK the best kiter if hate isn't an issue. I always default to MNK in towns now.

If you alternate between the three 3-part combos there is practically never a time where one of these won't be ready to use. With Ballad and improved Sucker Punch, MP costs on fists are manageable. 3 types of elemental damage, 3 ways to stun, and that amazing Second Wind. I think MNK is really powerful atm and potentially the top DD for any situation where they can take advantage of elemental weakness.

500+ evasion and being able to run faster than anything else sure is fun xD
But the effectiveness of evasion on some mobs seems bugged or at least badly designed. Especially the newly added enemies (from job quests) seem to hit 90% of the time even with over 500 evasion. Why sacrifice defence in favor of evasion if it doesn't work versus higher leveled mobs? :/

Fist of wind doesn't enhance evasion (as it was designed first).
So we still at 300~ Evasion

And some mobs couldn't care less about it and still hit 90%
Wasn't talking just about fist of wind but about mnk in general.
